Rating: Summary: Next Best in the Series Review: The best in the series is "Pretend You Don't See Her," but this would be a close second. "Lucky Day" is a really fun mystery (and surprisingly moving) in which a likeable old man wins the lottery and is murdered shortly afterwards. His dear friend, struggling actress Amanda Donohoe, is determined to track down his killers with or without the help of the police. THe thing that distinguishes this film is the absolutely winning performance of Amanda Donohoe in the lead. She is terrific as an actress who is determined that her friend, a messenger who whistled show tunes and championed her dreams, will not be overlooked. Also charming is the man who plays the "unlucky" winner. The mystery itself has some nice twists and turns, but it's the characters here who really elevate this above the pack. One cares about them and as I say, Donohoe makes a heroine to root for. Recommended!
