Summary: Underrated romantic gem
Review: It can be quite disappointing when a movie is not what it is advertised to be. The first time I saw Angel Eyes last May, I didn't care for it. Now that I have seen it a second time, I realize it wasn't the movie's fault. The problem was caused by Warner Brothers publicity department, which put together trailers that depicted the film as a supernatural thriller. It isn't that at all. It's a romance. The next time I watched it, I knew that and enjoyed it a lot. It is almost all about the relationships between people and has so little action and suspense that some viewers will give a rating of two yawns. Others will be fascinated.

Sharon Pogue [Jennifer Lopez] is a Chicago cop. She's good at what she does, and she likes her job. Her personal life barely exists at all, as much because of her childhood as her profession. Hers is a dysfunctional family, one which operates beyond the pat answers and cliches usually found in American movies. Sharon's father, Carl [Victor Argo], used to abuse her mother, Josephine [Sonia Braga]. Years ago, Sharon turned her father in to the police. The abuse stopped, but, much as in real life, the family turned Sharon into the villain. Now her parents are about to renew their wedding vows. She's been invited but doubts her father really wants her to attend. Meanwhile, a lost and lonely young man named Catch [James Caviezel] sees Sharon in the street. He is attracted to her, but is perplexed because it has been a long time since anyone has intruded into his very private world. Eventually, the movie reveals what is so special about her. It turns out Sharon thinks he's pretty special, too, but she also has built walls around herself.

Lopez, who is also a pop music star, has increasingly become a refined and assured actress. She was notable in Out of Sight and The Cell, but here she seems very comfortable whether she is in her cop's uniform, dealing with her family or involving herself with Catch. Caviezel is also someone to watch. He is excellent here, as he was on last year's Frequency with Dennis Quaid. He should do well in the next few years. There are few American actors who can be both tender and masculine as well as he can.

Angel Eyes has the slower pacing and emphasis on character development found in European films. This is probably why Warner Brothers marketed it so badly. It didn't fit the 'paint by numbers' selling mentality. We tend always to be in a rush these days, even when we aren't really going anywhere, and this applies to Hollywood as well. This is a movie that needed a platform release, which is one where a movie is slowly rolled out across the country. Warner had no time or patience for this and opened it on thousands of screens simultaneously, as if it were just any old generic movie. Perhaps it will find an audience on video.

Summary: Good romantic drama
Review: I have to admit that when I sat down to this movie I was thoroughly expecting 'Angel Eyes' to be excruciatingly bad. I was pleasantly surprised that it was actually, well, pleasant. In it we have Jennifer Lopez as the cop whose job is her life and speaking in an obviously put-on accent. One day on the job though she is saved by a quiet stranger (Caviezel), who she forms an interest in. Their relationship is gently realised as Caviezel almost grudgingly lets the Latin beauty into his heart. If this sounds boring then it's definitely nothing new. However, it's understated performances (once Lopez gets into her role) and treatment of horrific pasts on new relationships breathe efficient life into the movie to make it never less than engaging.

Summary: Nice review "Frank"
Review: "Frank's" review is an exact word-for-word copy of Roger Ebert's review. Hey man, if you don't have an orignal opinion, don't "review".

"Angel Eyes" is a great movie - heartfelt and most importantly realistic. It turns out to be about family, honor, and inner strength; all elements we seem to be missing from today's current films.

What this movie began as (as I thought it to be) became something entirley different - and I dig that. Don't delay. Plus, for guys, this is the ultimate date movie! It will even make you think.

Summary: Very good and touching Romantic Movie
Review: Jennifer Lopez and James Caviezel play their character perfectly. Jennifer try to find out about James' identity and life. She likes him but James refuse to tell her about himself. Both Jennifer and James has their own problems. They try to sort it out seperately. Anyway, I don't want to tell you any further because I don't want to create a spoiler. Overall this is a good movie! I am just a little bit dissapointed with the extra features in the DVD version. The English subtitle is very inaccurate. They rewrote the actors conversation in another way. For example: they wrote : "he has a problem sleeping" as "he has imsonia". Why? I know it's not a big deal but why don't they leave the subtitle just the way it is. Another thing is the director commentary is useless. He talks more about the technical aspects of making the movie rather than the story line. Anyway, if you can forget the special features part of the DVD, this is a very good movie! A good movie to watch in a date!

Summary: My favorite movie ever!
Review: Wow....this is personally the best movie I have ever seen! =) I loved it! Considering I'm the type who prefers comedies, I was surprised to find that "Angel Eyes" was an excellent, excellent movie. Jennifer Lopez delivers an awesome performance here. I never was really a big fan of hers, but I must say that she was great in this film. This may very well be one of her best performances. In this gripping drama, she portrays Sharon Pogue, a tough cop who is very focused on her job and nothing else. She doesn't really want to let anyone in her life, mainly because of a painful past she's endured with her family. The mysterious Catch comes along later on. He is a lot like Sharon in many ways; he is secluded, and the loss of his family has brought him to build a wall around himself. But when Sharon and Catch meet, it's instant chemistry. Through their individual decisions to let one another into their lives, emotional healing gradually brings about peace for both of them. Though some people consider this to be a ghost story, I don't think it is at all. It's just a very powerful movie with a LOT of action and occasional violence throughout. I'm not sure why I loved this movie so much, and I don't know what exactly attracted me to it. All I do know is that it's a very entertaining film with a good ending. I loved it and I hope you will too.

Summary: Movie Good, DVD not that good.
Review: I bought the DVD hoping there would be some interviews behind the scenes footage or stuff like that, but there is nothing! All there is is some commentary from the director which really isn't that interesting. They do have all the actors listed with all the movies they've been in. Don't get me wrong, Angel Eyes is a good movie, but the DVD is nothing special. If you're expecting a lot from the DVD, don't. Save some money and buy the VHS or just rent it.

Review: Excellent movie. I am not really a Jennifer Lopez fan, but I was impressed with her as an actress in this movie. I would recommend it to all thinking of buying a movie that has a very good, and surprising storyline, that is also thought provoking. Highly recommended.

Summary: WOW!
Review: I was expecting a ghost story, but what i got was so much better! A real love story, with real people. What could be better? You could imagine running into both these people on the street. And to be honest, it was a ghost story. A ghost who comes back to life. I love Jim Caviezel so much, and think he is seriously underrated. You have to see this!
