Rating: Summary: "In your hands you each have a lethal weapon" Review: Clue gets top marks for ingenuity and potential, but unfortunately fails in its delivery. The concept is of course taken from the board game 'Clue' (or 'Cluedo', depending on where you live) and the publicity for the movie claims that "the suspicious characters and sinister rooms made famous by the popular board game have come to life". The characters however, aside from their nomenclature, bear very little resemblance to those of the Waddingtons game (the Reverend Green has been de-frocked, Mrs. White has transformed from a frumpy cook into a black-widow, and none of them wear the colour of their name). But the real attraction of the movie is its legendary alternative endings. Six unlikely guests - all of whom have secrets to hide - are invited to dine at a spooky old manor. The aptly named Mr. Boddy is the first to be murdered during the course of the evening, and, as the corpses begin to pile up, the race is on to find out who did it, with what, and where. The film offers three possible solutions to the crimes for the viewer to mull over. . . . . . . . . . There is no doubt that the plotting is (by necessity) very clever, but it is also far too complex to make sense of in a single viewing. Astute viewers will also pick up on several storyline holes that make all three endings unlikely, if not impossible. The movie is presented (quite rightly) as a farce, and while the pell-mell rush of the end sequences is excellent, it fails to fire for the first 30 minutes, by which time its audience will probably have tired of the stale old campy word-play. Perhaps this sort of thing is best left to the British.
Rating: Summary: A Classic - Probably the greatest movie ever made!! Review: No idea how many times I have watched this film but it still rules! The cast is fantastic, the script, the three endings, and the chamber maid is mighty fine too. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys an intelligent, high quality spoof. Watch it, you wont regret it!!
Rating: Summary: I DIDN'T DO IT!!! Review: But Clue does!!! This is a movie based on that popular child's game of the early 1960's. I guess I am dating myself to say we adored this as wee tikes and spent many a winter night or hot summer day inside playing it. So this being 'icon' of my childhood, I was leary when I heard they were making a movie of it, in spite of the powerhouse cast. Movies of this sort can be very very funny or miss altogether...fortunately, this one hits dead on bullseye! The cast is a who's who of talent, head by the incomparable Tim Curry. (The only people I think that could have handle the role with the same droll talent is Ian McShane or David Bowie!!). The jokes are painfully tongue through cheek, delivered at rapid fire pace, by a cast that knows how to do farce. Discovering who killed everyone is more confusing that solving who was responsible for all the murders in Bogart & Bacall's BIG SLEEP!! So do not miss Tim Curry doing his Butler-did-it thingie, the brilliant Madeline Kahn, the eternally beautiful & gravity-defying Leslie Ann Warren, Christopher Lloyd and Michael McKean in one hilarious romp. A definite repeat viewer with the laughs never failing to miss. Frankly, I would LOVE to have the outtakes for this film...
Rating: Summary: One of the greatest movies ever made Review: This is the greatest movie I've ever seen (and beileve me I've seen a lot of movies) the last reviewer said the endings were impossible btu he was in bathroom during most of the movie because they make a lot of sense. I've seen this movie a billion times and it still cracks me up every time I see it it's so great. A must have for everyone it's really cool.
Rating: Summary: Clue Review: I loved the movie clue so much, I give it a 5. I mean 3 different endings to the story. Of course, who though the butler was actually dead and the butler was Mr.Body all along. Tim Curry is so hot that he turns me on. Who would of thought that it was perfect. You really got to buy it or see it because it has laughs. If you played the board game, it is more funnier to see it on tape. Martin Mull is in it and he's a good comedian. Tim Curry is an actor that really keeps you watching. He reminds me of the guy from the Sylester Stalone movie. This is a must-see!
Rating: Summary: ...and you'd had a letter, and you'd had a letter... Review: If you like the game, you'll love this movie. All star cast, Tim Curry, Madeline Kahn, Leslie Ann Warren, everybody! Plus Lee Ving as Mr. Body, that suprised the hell outta me!`
Rating: Summary: Don't be left Clueless! Review: I've always been a fan of the late Madeline Kahn and that is the main reason I saw this movie back in the 80s when it was released. I'm glad to have this movie on dvd. Though it wasn't a box office success back then, I'm still a fan of this movie. There is a lot of hilarity through out the film and all the actors do well in there parts as the characters of the famous board game. My favorite scene in the movie has to be in one of the three endings when the characters are singing "For he's a jolly good fellow" to the murderer with Madeline singing harmony---very funny and worth buy the dvd for alone.
Rating: Summary: Great Fun Review: I've always loved this movie, even though I believe it bombed at the box office. The actors's chemistry is perfect and the set design is wonderful. I especially crack up when the characters pair off to search the mansion, they are so paranoid and weary of each other, I can't help but LMAO. The DVD picture is very sharp and clear. I wish they had put more extra features on here, like deleted scenes or bloopers, but I still felt I got my money's worth.
Rating: Summary: Great movie Review: This is an awsome movie with 3 endings. I had fun, first watching this movie, trying to guess whodunnit. very funny, and surprising ending!
