Summary: Gnitseretni
Review: A movie unlike any I have seen (and I watch a lot). Very well written and acted. Similar to a Seinfeld episode but with a different twist and motivation.
I had to watch it and my son, who is studying to write movies/TV had to add it to his library as a great example of a mind twisting tale. Pay carefull attention, or go watch it a few more times.

Summary: great film
Review: lots of subtlety in the film, well beyond just a great film-noir styled plot with an interesting backwards-telling narrative device. many interesting themes--existentialism vs. realism, personal identity, memory, self-deception, social treatment of the disabled, etc. the conclusion is purposefully open-ended about who leonard really is, which allows for some interesting speculation.

the http://www.otnemem.com website's news-clippings provide extra background details and clues, that may change what some think of the plot. really nice. the memento mori short-story, which is worth a read, is available online at http://www.esquire.com/cgi-bin/printtool/print.cgi?pages=9&filename=%2Ffeatures%2Farticles%2F2001%2F001323_mfr_memento.html&x=62&y=8

i also think Carrie-Anne Moss makes a very sexy femme fatale :)

* small spoiler *
NOTE TO MSCOTTR:
you are wrong about Fact 5 and Fact 6 being learned in the wrong order. Fact 5 is learned during the black & white flashback sequence that is interspaced throughout the film. this sequence occurs before Fact 6 is learned--note that in this sequence Leonard has no scratches on his cheek (which he receives in the fight immediately before he records Fact 6), and he is still wearing his old clothes in this sequence (which he discards after the fight that occurs immediately before he records Fact 6.) additionally, he takes teddy's photo during the black & white sequence, and he has this photo in his possession each time in the film that he meets teddy (including before he records Fact 6.)

Summary: Great work by the writer- Very tough movie to do!
Review: If you thought it was hard to write script with a suprise ending, how do you think it is to write one with a suprise beginning?

It was an amazing movie, hard to follow, but amazing. It's definantly one you would want to buy so you could watch it over and over again to fully understand it.

Summary: One that will stay in your head
Review: Memento is simply amazing - a movie that sucks you in while you watch, deeper and deeper, then ultimately leaves you puzzling for weeks about what it was all about. The plot has been covered extensively in previous reviews, so I won't go into that. The performances are outstanding all round - Guy Pearce as lead character Lenny is perfectly cast as the confused, vengeful husband. Joe Pantoliano, as the shady police contact and Carrie-Anne Moss as the sexy bartender are also brilliant: Moss in particular seems to relish her role. This is a movie for the ages, one to be talked about with friends over drinks. It raises more questions than it answers - about the human condition, reliability of memory, the power of relationships and context and the confusion of the mental conditions. It is tough work to follow at times, but the satisfaction gained from thinking about the movie makes it one of the best movies of the last 5 years.

Summary: Unforgettable... ;)
Review: A film noir, with quite a few laughs along the way, told backwards about a man who experiences short term memory loss from an attack that also involved his wife. Since the main character can not remember people, conversations & locations beyond a few minutes he uses polaroid photographs, notes to self & tattoos to ensure his memories are as he can believe & trust. But are they really?

While Memento is primarily an enthralling suspense/thriller about a man in search for an attacker/killer, it also delivers intriguing, philosophical reflections by the main character about the accuracy of memories which we develop over a lifetime.

I've read that the DVD version would have the option to view the film in a linear, chronological order, however it doesn't. That would have been amusing to watch, however Memento would be a -completely- different film if we -first- heard Teddy's speech in the warehouse in the actual beginning of the film. Memento took a long time to reach people & gain merit which is too bad. It's without a doubt the most original, least passive film I've seen in 2001. Every actor delivers a strong performance & there is nothing weak about this film.

Watch it at least twice, Memento is mind-blowing.

Summary: PAY ATTENTION TO THIS ONE....
Review: I liked this movie alot, but I found that if I even turned my head away for a split second that I would miss something. It's the kind of movie that you really need to pay attention to at all times.
It was a very interesting idea that was well crafted. I think that Guy Pearce was amazing in this movie. It has a few twists and turns that are well worth watcing. The idea of telling everything in reverse was different, and there were only a few times that I truly felt confused. (I think my husband asking me a thousand ??'s during the movie didn't help), I just may watch it again to see if I missed anything.
It's a original film, and one of the better films I've seen this year. Worth a rental fee, just be in the mood it.

Summary: Way too confusing...
Review: The director went out of his way to make what could have been a decent movie into a confusing disjointed mess.

Summary: Absolutely awesome!
Review: Saw this movie in a video store and was intrigued so I rented it. It is an incredibly awesome movie about a man; played by Guy Pearce; who is after a man who he believes killed his wife. There is one minor problem, he cannot create any new memories. He remembers what happened before "the incident", but anything after that he forgets almost immediately.

The movie starts at the end of the story and goes backward, well sort of. Each scene picks up earlier and ends where the last one began.

Carrie Ann Moss and Joe Pagliano (sp?) do some incredibly interesting and awesome acting to help bring the story to life. This is well worth buying and owning, or at least renting to watch.

Summary: Are we clever or what?
Review: Well, this is a very dazzling movie with a very strong cast and script. The storytelling style is amazing and the dialogues are both humourous and cruel. The way the main character sets his life accourding to his dissability to not remember anything that happened to him before the accident is really smart. So why three stars? there is no way you can reach for what really happened before the end of the movie. So this is just a big show off for the director and the scriptwritter. Yeah guys, you are so clever you start from the end and finish at the beggining of everything so that we can't guess who really did the crime... Wise-arse...
