Summary: JUST CUZ IT'S A CARTOON
Review: Just cuz it's a cartoon, and about the holiday's, does not make it a family movie. The movie was everything I expected, no real surprises. That said I do not feel the adult content shuold be used to grade the movie. My kids will not be seeing this for some time. My copy has PG-13 PARENTS STRONGLY CAUTIONED clearly stated on the back.

Summary: 8 Crazy Nights
Review: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!! One reviewer states, "the funniest Christmas movie ever". This could not be farther from the truth. I like many of A. Sandler's movies. However, this movie sucked really bad. It was crude and not funny (reindeer pooping and eating poop?...come on!). It was irritating and not funny (the old man's voice was so grating, it made you want to scream five minutes into the movie). Most of all, the movie was boring and embarrassing to watch in mixed company. I still can't believe I wasted $4.00 to rent it.

Review: Adam Sandler's autobiographical EIGHT CRAZY NIGHTS (Columbia Tristar) is a rowdy, goofball mix of awkward sentiment and scatological humor set against a Hanukkah celebration. Apparently bad childhood memories compel Davey Stone (Sandler) to screw up the holidays. Will he find redemption? Hysterical voice work by Sandler, Rob Schneider and Jon Lovitz. Oh yes, it's a musical.

Review: I want to say first that I am an Adam Sandler fan. I loved him on SNL, I have enjoyed him in everything from "Billy Madison" to "Punch-Drunk Love". So with that in mind, I had high hopes for "Eight Crazy Nights". To say it was a let down would be an understatement. This is one of the worst movies I have seen in recent memory. The only thing remotely close funny is the old man named Whitey. He has a few lines that might warrant a slight chuckle. Sandler's Davey Stone character is so annoying, you will probably be tempted to turn off the movie within the first 10 minutes. If you don't, you'll be treated to jokes about hairy butts, a woman with three breasts, a man eating a jock strap and deer licking frozen feces. Sounds appealing, doesn't it? I am sure some diehard Sandler fans think this is funny, but I don't. Hopefully his first animated movie will be his last.

Summary: JUST a cartoon that tells a message.......
Review: I liked it very much! It not for the very young kids. More for teenagers and up. Adam sandler is very talented and it's made up of HIS sense of humor. So if people are NOT a fan of his,...I don't think they would enjoy it. I found it too be very interesting. At first I was tired of Daveys character being SO mean to everyone. But his heart softens at the end and it would teach any bully a lession! I loved the character of Whitey, (voice of Adam Sandler). He is so cute and lovable! His sister, Eleanore,(Adam Sadlers voice again), is SO funny!!! I love it when Whitey sings, "Technical Foul",...both so adorable!! This is JUST a cartoon that is NOT meant to be taken serious except for the heart-warming message/story that its trying to get across!...people can be so mean to the nicest people who don't deserve it!!! I REALLY liked it a lot. I WILL be adding this movie too my collection!!

Review: Okay, so the movie is crude and not suitable for kids. I have two things to say to that: (1)not only is the film rated PG-13, but in today's age of ultra-descriptive ratings explanations courtesy of the MPAA, they even let you know in the rating description that this movie contains crude humor. And (2) this is Adam Sandler, people. It's not Jimmy Stewart or Tom Hanks. It's a comedian/actor who's built his career on crude humor, so if you mis-gauged what the tone of this flick would be, it's your own fault. I thought it was great. I think it was purposely made to appear like a family movie but actually be crude, just to be ironic and clever. I'm surprised people are so quick to say all that's wrong with this movie, yet no one seems to give kudos to Sandler for making a holiday movie that's focused on Hanukkah, an often overlooked holiday in the mainstream entertainment industry. I'm not saying this movie has some deep, revelatory moral center that pays homage to the Jewish faith, I'm just citing it as another example of the refreshing way Sandler crafted an entertainingly irreverent holiday spoof flick. Take movies for what they are. If you don't like them, fine - we're all entitled to our own opinions. But to criticize a film for not measuring up to the misjudged idea of what you thought it would be is just plain silly. You'll get no sympathy from me just because you ignorantly plopped your 9 year old kid in front of this movie.

Summary: The worst movie ever made
Review: Yeah, it sounds like a cheery holiday movie for the kids, but it isn't. It's mean-spirited movie that goes nowhere. It's crude and rude as you would expect from Sandler, but not even in a funny way. Imagine Sandler pushing a little old man in a port-a-potty down a hill so that he becomes a frozen sh*tsicle...then imagine reindeer coming to lick it off him and getting sh*t stuck in their teeth. Yup, that was in there and was about the extent of the humor therein. Please don't buy this. And if you do, BE SURE to watch this before giving it as a gift or letting your children watch it.

Summary: Bizarre and a bit crude
Review: I'm usually a supporter of Adam Sandler comedies, even if a lot of them are the same. His films have innocent, escapist humor that just allows you to forget about your troubles and laugh at pratfalls. This time, Sandler dabbles in animation, and it unfortunately does not achieve the same effect as his live-action comedies. Sandler voices the three main characters in this cartoon: a grumpy criminal prankster named Davey, a tiny and kindhearted old man named Whitey, and Whitey's crazy wig-wearing sister Eleanor. Davey actually looks and sounds like Sandler himself, while the brother and sister duo have the most grating voices possible and wacky appearances. This could annoy you so much that you may want to turn the movie off...I almost did. The plot is unimportant because gross-out humor and mean-spirited jokes take precedent in this film, but I will explain it anyway. Davey goes around town terrorizing people until his crimes catch up with him: he knocks down huge Menorah and Santa ice sculptures. The town judge sentences him to be supervised by Whitey, who plans to get him involved in a youth basketball program to turn his life around. It turns out that a tragedy from Davey's past is what has caused his bitterness towards the holidays, and this topic is finally explored after much mayhem and many gags. It only has a few truly funny moments, and it is overwhelmed with product placement ad nauseum in a mall sequence. It kind of makes you wonder if all of those advertising fees were necessary to get this film produced in the first place. It's artistic and comic merit alone are simply not enough. This movie is pretty pointless and misdirected towards a younger audience. Parents be warned: the movie earns every ounce of the PG-13 rating. It has naughty language, innuendo, and plenty of humor centering around excrement. The Sandler purist may love this film and see it for the sometimes strange and sickening comedy it is. For me, it was just not as funny as I expected. The reason that I didn't give it one star is because I liked the cameos from Sandler staples Rob Schneider, Jon Lovitz and Kevin Nealon, AND because of the hilarious new version of "The Hanukkah Song" featured in the end credits. In conclusion, this animated feature is hit-or-miss, depending on your taste. Just don't expect comic genius.
