Rating: Summary: I love this movie so much I've seen it six times! Review: This movie, of course loosely based on the life of Carole King, is a 2 hour rollercoaster ride of emotions. It captures the color, fast paced changes and drama of the 50's and 60's as experienced through the life of this aspiring singer/songwriter. As usual Allison Anders is able to use this background to hit upon a variety of subjects having to do with social change. It's well crafted, well acted and the soundtrack is terrific! I'll probably see this 6 more times before its all over.
Rating: Summary: Grace of my Heart Review: This was one of the best movies I have ever had the pleasure of viewing. It is humourous and touching. I hardly ever get emotional watching a movie and I actually found myself in tears at the end. I won't ruin it for you but this a great film. The cast was wonderful especially Illeana Douglas and John Turturro, whose performance was powerful and intelligent. I recommend that any movie fan see and/or own this movie.
Rating: Summary: Grace Of My Heart Review: Though this film will probably not have much appeal to anyone under 40, it is a clever and entertaining look at the most exciting and creative period in pop music history. Many 'stars' of this era are parodied here, and those familiar with the music of the 60's will immediately recognize the characters portrayed. The original music is beautiful, and recorded with incredible authenticty. John Turturro is marvelous as the New York hot-shot music publisher, carefully nurturing his latest discovery, a female songwriter (played by Illeana Douglas) who turns out hit after hit and makes a fortune for herself and the publishing company, but wants only to make her own record as a singer. "Denise" finally gets to do just that, but only after losing two husbands and for a short while, her own mind. This is one of just a few films that I watch at least 3 times a year.

Rating: Summary: The best of the best! Review: While browsing through the video store I lucked out and came across this video. I am crazy about this movie! After about the 6th time of having viewed it, totally inspired, I went to my piano and wrote a song. Excellent story, great music and super acting. I love Illeana Douglas. She came across as such a likeable character. It's hard to believe that she didn't actually record the music. For Real did a great job and sounded so much like the music of the 60's. In fact I was disappointed to discover that there was not a group named "The Lumanaries." Realistic depiction of the music and clothes from the 70's. I'm buying this one!
