Summary: Good chickflick.
Review: As far as books-turned-movies go, I've never felt it was realistically possible to compare them point-by-point. This movie is what one would expect an MTV version of a classic novel to be-- teen angst-y and different. If you expect a novel on film, see a different version. But judging this movie separately from the book, it was enjoyable.

Review: Does not follow the book in the least. If it's supposed to be made from a classic story the least that could have been going on is trying to follow the book at least a little bit closer. Don't buy this. If I could give it zero stars, I would.I bet Emily Bronte is rolling over in her grave! Poor thing. I would too.

Review: don't waste your money on this atrocity. it was okay on television, but why anyone would want to watch it again . . . i think they could have made a decent movie with the actors and some of the storyline if they had not tried to make it "wuthering heights." the ending? i'm not quite sure what happened there. aside from the ending, i could tolerate the movie as long as i didn't think about what it was supposed to be.

Summary: Emily Bronte MTV Makeover!
Review: I don't know what Emily Bronte, one of the best literary minds of all times, would have made of MTV's adaptation of her classic Wuthering Heights! Almost everything would have appeared alien to her, and imaginative guess work can only offer a very modest speculation about what she would have thought of fancy cars and rock music.But one thing is for sure, she would have certainly known the difference between mediocrity and creativity! And alas this newest and loosest of interpretations of her classic masterpiece of love, passion and betrayal would have made her wish she never wrote it in the first place.
Modern interpretations of classics are by no means a bad venture, as the examples of Baz Luhrmann's Romeo+Juliet and Alfonso Cuaron's Great Expectations clearly demonstrate,but the problem with the MTV's version of Bronte's classic is its mediocrity..just a plain, lifeless and average direction and acting. Had the film had a different title, and had MTV did not market it in an 'in your face hip, cool, trendy and young' way, then maybe it would have been much more bearable.
MTV's venture into the world of movie making has not been a glorious success so far, and simply because they are following the same approach and mental frame that they take in their musical and reality TV productions, and this is a big mistake.
Anyway, the overbearing and passionate Victorian world of Bronte and her dramatic but sadly short life were very much part of her work, yet her stories with their universal themes do indeed belong to all the ages, and make good movie material, if only the script, direction and acting are good enough to retain the spirit of the book, while infusing it with a modern outlook. The only success of MTV's Wuthering Heights was probably to turn one of the best writers of all time in her grave. Avoid!

Summary: No comparison to the book. At all.
Review: I feel generous giving it simply one star... This MTV interpretation focuses mostly on bland, mediocre romance and doesn't even hint at the original, dark themes of the book. The characters have been malformed into stereotypes, especially Heathcliff. Instead of a dark, unkempt boy, "Heath" is a Californian blonde who likes wearing dirty shirts but remains good-looking at the same time. Also note that he's not shown as violent or callous at all; they save all of that for Hindley, erm, "Hendrix." I wasn't impressed by the score, which amounted to about three or four unremarkable songs being played over and over. In my opinion, it's not even worth renting. Watching a few pop videos will give you a pretty good idea of what it was like, without wasting as much time as the movie does.

Summary: If You Enjoy Film You'll Like It
Review: I hoped this would come back on MTV so I could watch it again. It didn't so I bought it here. I really loved the setting, costumes and music. I've never managed to sit through reading or seeing the original so the fact that it doesn't follow the story exactly doesn't upset me. It's just as good as anything else out there. You don't have to worry about nudity although there is a shot of a bare back from the waist up.

Summary: If you like drama and music...
Review: I really enjoyed this. At 23, I watched this with my Dad who is 59 (one of my friends is in it and we both wanted to see it). He enjoyed it as much as I did. Erika Christensen is lovely and I also thoroughly enjoyed Chris Masterson. It was well acted and well directed with beautiful loactions. The story was adapted well into present. It demonstrated the timelessness of the story while being different enough from the book itself not to take away from the book. It's not for anyone who doesn't enjoy a little drama, but I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Alternative music and drama.

Summary: It Had Potential
Review: I remember reading Wuthering Heights in high school. I loved the book, a classic tale of thwarted love and revenge. It always seemed to me a book that could be updated very effectively into a modern version, yet when MTV tries to make the classic into a modern love story, it loses much of the power that the novel has.
Heath is an intense foudling that is taken in by Earnshaw, who has two children of his own, Kate and Hendrix. Kate and Heath become inseparable and Hendrix becomes jealous as Heath seems to be a better son than he is. Years pass and Heath possessively claims Kate, who has started to resent the treatment. A series of unfortunate events cause Kate to end up getting married to Edward Linton, while Heath broods away in his music. Eventually the two are reunited in an ending that tries to keep some of the integrity of the story, but fails with the odd difference of the ending in the book and the movie, which takes out a lot of the power that the novel had.
Mike Vogel is surprisingly not a horrible Heathcliff character, with passion and rage, but with the cheesy soap opera style script, he isn't given much to work with. To make the main characters more likable, the writer changed their characters from the novel to the movie. No longer is Kate the frivolous, faithless lover of Heath as Cathy was to Heathcliff, but she is seen as rather a victim of circumstance. Heath is not the vindictive monster than Heathcliff was and his relationship with Isabel is seen as her originally trying to use him instead of the other way around. Yet even though they characters are supposed to be more likable, they seem watered down. Heathcliff and Cathy weren't really star crossed, they destroyed each other. Their love was a destructive kind, something the movie tries to portray in words, but not actions of the characters.
This movie could have been really good. The actors had the talent to make the story young, hip and tragic, but the writing that tried to give the movie a slightly happy ending effectively undercuts everything that the actors are trying for.

Summary: GREAT MOVIE!
Review: I saw the movie on MTV and it was G-R-E-A-T! I taped it on a VHS tape - which is getting kind of beat-up since I've watched it SOOO many times! The dramatic skills of these young actors/actresses is really good! The movie (Assuming you have not read the book/watched another version of the movie) will keep you guessing until the very end. I would definitely recommend buying this movie along with the soundtrack! It's really good! :)

Summary: MTV Need Assistance by Major Film Makers to Pilot Films
Review: MTV I feel can generate great movies, but all they need to do is just get the help from the Major Film Makers from Hollywood USA.
I can just imagine if this Re-Make of Wuthering Heights was done by Steven Spielberg, Mel Gibson, or even Steven Soderbergh; i think that the results were going to be something else. Erika Christensen is talented but she alone can't do it, she needs the Fine Director Starship in order to take the projects that she is in to new Heights. I would not mind watching this even though it is still not available where i am from. It be nice if Swimfan 2 were made by MTV Films, i wonder how that would end; the conclusion to Madison Bell, and her pursuit for Benjamin Cronin. As for this, i am going to go get it(wuthering heights CA) and see it, and i do hope it is good. If it is good, great if not well i am not going to bash it, but just accept it, besides Erika is in it. Mike Vogel is on here too[on wuthering heights CA], he is a good actor, And he is also in Texas ChainSaw Massacre(the re-make 2003). A movie that did so well at the box office, i believe 80 million dollars.
