Rating: Summary: The Best Christmas Carol of All! Review: Every year our family's Christmas Eve tradition is watching this movie together. This is by far the greatest Christmas movie ever made. Albert Finney is absolutely brilliant, along with all of the other cast mates. The music is so much fun, you'll find yourself wanting the soundtrack as well. My favorite part of the movie is The Ghost of Christmas Present! Soooo funny! If you've never seen this movie before, make this year your first year of tradition! Enjoy and Happy Holidays!!
Rating: Summary: It's not Christmas without this movie! Review: On Thanksgiving our family tradition is to watch this wonderful movie. This officially starts the Christmas Season! The music is spectacular and will stick with you for a lifetime. The production is lavish and top-notch. The actors are WELL selected and play each of their parts exquisitely! We already own the VHS version but I can see that the tape just won't last through the years so we're buying the DVD. If you enjoy Christmas film classics like White Christmas, It's a Wonderful Life, Etc, you should have this one as a prominent member of your collection. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Finney the Fabulous Review: I saw this movie when I was in junior high school in the early 70's and have loved it ever since. I've also given it to several children as a Christmas gift. So relax with a cup of hot cocoa and enjoy this one. It's a keeper!
Rating: Summary: Waiting a Long Time for This One!!! Review: This has got to be my favorite Christmas Movie of all time. "SCROOGE" has finally made it to DVD! I have the Laser disc version and the VHS pan and scan version. The Laser Disc is okay but you have to turn it over when the first side is done. Of course it's in widescreen but I have been waiting for years for this one to come out on DVD. Albert Finney does an excellent job as Scrooge as so does everyone else. The songs and the dancing and singing are fantastic. I love the part when he is flying through the air with Christmas present. My favorite song is "Thank-you very Much" cause Scrooge does not know that they are singing about him cause he past on when the future spirit comes to call on him. Plus the sad part too that makes me set the waterworks going is when they are in the cemetary and you hear Tiny Tim in the background singing and his father is there visiting his tombstone. The only thing that I am disappointed in is that they didn't do a collector's edition on this DVD and have interviews with the stars of the movie. No special features OH WELL! But this is the Christmas DVD to own and to show every Christmas. My favorite movie of the entire holiday season. I hope that whoever owns it, will cherish this one forever. Anthony
Rating: Summary: The best holiday movie EVER Review: I am soo excited this is on DVD! Finally!! This is classic christmas for me. Enjoy this rockin' film!
Rating: Summary: Nostalgia Avenue Review: I can't even remember the first time I saw this great Christmas Musical 'Scrooge', but I do know that it left an impressionable scar that must be re-visited every year, just as 'Scrooge' is visted by his ghost. My ghost, however, are the lovely memories of watching this movie ever year with my family and I am so glad that this wonderful movie is now available on DVD. I will watch this more than just at Christmas time, because, as I said before, this is nostalgia avenue for me and I hope you buy this for your family and begin this wonderful tradition as well. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Finally! The best Christmas movie is now on DVD!!! Review: OK, so the story of "A Christmas Carol" has been told again and again, but this musical adaptation is simply the best. Albert Finney's Scrooge is a dastardly and loveable character, and the performances by all of the cast, set this movie apart from other renditions. But what makes this movie so special is the original music by Leslie Bricusse. The same talent that brought us the music to "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" as well as "Victor, Victoria". The music is catchy, beautiful and poignant, and so much within the holiday spirit, that I am surprised a few of the songs haven't become holiday traditions. Beautifully filmed, wonderfully directed and now in widescreen format!! I highly recommend this movie. Anyone I have ever shown it to, LOVES it instantly. A true classic that every home DVD library should have.
Rating: Summary: FINALLY! Review: I have been waiting for this to come out forever, nursing my VHS copy along--It is great, the DVD is definitely brighter and the sound quality is execellent! Yeah! My favorite Thanksgiving/Christmas tradition lives on!
Rating: Summary: Ignore the "Official" Amazon.com Editorial Review! Review: Scrooge himself must have written the Editorial Review! Leonard Maltin gives this handsome musical 3 out of 4 stars. That's good enough for me! As of this writing, the Editorial Review doesn't even mention the standout performance of Alec Guinness (Obi-Wan Kenobi of Star Wars) as Marley's ghost. "Thank You Very Much" is a classic tune and was a huge hit in its day. The opening theme, "A Christmas Carol" still finds its way onto Christmas albums. Although some parts of the film are a bit dated, the dialogue is smartly written and the music is beautiful. I saw this film in its original 1970 release when I was 15 and just loved it. It's about time they restored it and put it on widescreen DVD! A real Christmas treat!
Rating: Summary: Scrooge, the best christmas Musical ever! Review: What, not seen yet? Shame!! The best Christmas Musical ever made. Need more to know? See this DVD!
