Rating: Summary: Newsies? On DVD? Disney, you're too good to us. Review: Since becoming a fan of Disney's submerged musical (which is difficult to find unless one is introduced to it), I've been lucky enough to be blessed with the glorious DVD. One of my personal favorite features is listening to the movie with the Spanish audio on, though I don't know a word of Spanish-- it keeps the scenes I know by heart, fresh. The documentaries are also wonderful-- the behind-the-scenes one which shows the boys learning their dance moves and getting tutored (in Spanish, natch) is too cute for any Newsies fan to miss. Max Casella (Racetrack) in super-90s clothing-- Hilarious!! The wide-screen viewing is also worth the price, for all the dance steps and other trivia bits that were missed by inhabiting screen spaces previously. The recently-released VHS edition is also quite good, if you don't have a DVD player; it has some shots moved over from the original VHS movie, so you get somewhat of an increased perspection of the movie. However, a drawback: in the VHS Collector's Edition, they move the camera off Aaron Lohr (Mush) in his beautiful pelvic thrust.Shame, shame. Great movie (if you skip the Duvall parts as Pulitzer and Ann-Margret as Medda) with fun songs and a cast of spectacular young actors, most of whom have gone on to other projects with varied success; yet all will live on in the hearts of the millions of Newsies fans all over the world (and, yes, we ARE out there-- and heavily petitioning Disney for a Newsies Reunion, might I add.). ~Mondie RIP Dominic Lucero (Bumlets).
Rating: Summary: King of New York Review: The first time I saw this movie was in History class, and I fell in love with it. I watched it 7 times after that and never got sick of it. This movie would have to be my all time favorite movie. By the way Keep an eye out for Spot Collins(Gabriel Damon) he is a TOTAL hottie!!! The songs are great and by the time your done watching it you will have the songs stuck in your head. And you'll want to watch it over again. This is the best movie!!
Rating: Summary: *Sigh* Christian Bale... Review: This movie came out when I was in Junior High, and my girlfriends and I saw it in the theatre four times, then bought the soundtrack and wore out the tape. It's a great movie with a lot of up and coming stars in it as well as a few well known ones, particularly Robert Duvall and Ann Margaret. The music is great, and this was the first live musical that I had seen Disney do in quite a while, not since the 60's/70's era of all those classics. Great family movie, or a girls night movie when you just want to drool over good lookin' guys.
