Review: I was totally blown away by CHICAGO. At first, I was expecting to see a movie that was all hype and no talent. I was *so* wrong to underestimate this film. I haven't seen a movie this good in YEARS. Everyone sang and danced very well, which was a very pleasant surprise, compared to all the hype surrounding Nicole Kidman because she sang in Moulin Rouge. (Pity she didn't sing very well, compared to the people in CHICAGO.) Anyway...this is a film that can't afford to be overlooked. Why? Because this movie is really something special. You're really going to be in for a treat if you go see this movie.

Summary: Absolutely amazing!
Review: Wow! I was so surprised when I saw this movie. I've never been into musicals, especially after seeing Moulin Rouge. Basically, I went to this movie because I'm a Richard Gere fan. I didn't really have high hopes. But my outlook on this movie definitely changed. I loved every single minute of it! The cast was incredible, the songs were catchy, everything was great. I've already seen it twice and will probably end up seeing it again. When you watch this movie you will be smiling the whole time. I looked around the movie theatre as Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renee Zellweger were performing on the screen and everyone watching had a huge grin on their face. If you see this film you will know what I mean! Give it a chance, even if you're not a big musical fan. You won't regret it.

Summary: Incredible, amazing, spectacular, and jazzy
Review: WHOA! What an amazing experience! Can anyone spell Oscar? Chicago is an incredible movie. It certainly was way more than I expected... this film is musical-lover's heaven. Even if you're not the biggest fan of musicals, you should still give this film a try- it has action, drama, and even a bit of comedy. The audience seemed to love every moment of it, clapping and laughing during several parts. No wonder why- this film is clever and powerful and beautifully done. The power of Chicago translated beautifully from the theatre to the Silver Screen. At several points in the movie I felt as though I was sitting in the front row of a theatre watching the actors on stage. The visuals and cinematography was incredible, and each musical number smoothly blending with the story. I was completely blown away by the cast, especially Catherine Zeta Jones and Richard Gere. They were absolutely incredible and such a pleasure to watch on screen. Catherine totally has that whole theatre, dramatic acting quality about her and I hope to see her in more powerful roles and singing and dancing herself away in future films. She was definitely the brightest talent in this film, and though she was one of the major roles it was still too bad that she didn't have more screen time. Renee Zellweiger wasn't bad. She's not really my favourite actress but I definitely can't say anything bad about her in this film. She fit her role nicely, and though she doesn't have nearly as powerful of a voice as Catherine nor does she seem quite as comfortable dancing on stage, she was still rather impressive. I have to also note that Queen Latifah was fantastic! She managed to make her character seem funny, loveable, selfish, and rotten all at the same time. She also proved herself quite well during her musical number. Overall, this film is absolutely amazing. I imagine it will be a major Oscar contender. Don't miss out... go see it! A definite 5 stars.

Summary: OMIGOD .. one of the best movies EVER? Possibly!!!
Review: I really can't put into words how much I enjoyed this movie. I won't go into the story as you can pick that up from the other reviews here and across the country.

I'll just say that this is a fun, brash, exciting, phenomenal film that I won't soon forget. Catherine Zeta-Jones BLEW me away!! She is amazing and has a great voice. Of course, she's also sexier than you can imagine.

One of the things I enjoyed the most about this film was the dancing/choreography. The few musicals that have been relased over the last few years ("Evita", "Moulin Rouge") were great, but, they didn't have much dancing in them. The dance numbers in this film are superb.

Do yourself a favor .. catch "Chicago". I'm going to be seeing it again!!

Summary: Razzle Dazzle and All That Jazz!
Review: Upon hearing of this movie musical, I was unsure how it would be done, considering the track record of movie musicals, a majority of them usually don't have too many songs breaking up the dialogue, either that, or they're pure musicals, all song and NO dialogue. I had never seen the Broadway Musical, but I did know of it thanks to my girlfriend, who has seen the musical and exposed me to the soundtrack about a year or so earlier. Being that I came into this film without seeing the stage version, it meant that I would be unbiased, and would have no basis for comparison, which was good. Regardless of that, I have to say that the movie version of 'Chicago' is simply.... OUTSTANDING!!! I was fully entranced, it was magical, it was funny, it made me feel GREAT!! And to people who have seen the stage version, you'll love this film. The acting, the singing, everything about this film was simply on point. Catherine Zeta-Jones put in a fabulous performance as Velma Kelly, with some zest, pizazz, attitude, some fancy footwork, and some great singing as well. Renee Zellwegger definitely did a fabulous job as Roxy Hart, with her cupie dolls looks and Betty Boop voice, she was great. What surprised me the most was the absolutely extraordinary performance given by Richard Gere. I had no idea he could sing, or dance for that matter, but he does both exceptionally well. His portrayel of Billy Flynn simply oozed with charm, wit, smooth slickness, but enough heart to make him a loveable character, despite the fact that he's an opportunistic slimeball. all in all, this is a fabulous film, something that will leave you smiling well after you've left the theater.

Summary: Pure Dynamite!
Review: There is very little to prepare the end of the year movie-goer for the sheer glory of this VERY cinematic transformation of CHICAGO. From the very first flicker on the screen (which sets a mood as successfully as the equally excellent CABARET, another gem by the same writing and choreographing team) the audience is consumed by the story, the music, the fine, fine quality of every aspect of this film. The intersplicing of real life story with a staged musical version, creating a blur between fantasy and reality is just terrific. The cast is splendid: Richard Gere, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger, Queen Latifah, John C. Reilly, Taye Diggs all own their parts and give more than convincing triumphs in the singing and dancing roles. The direction is tight, every scene well paced, and the camera work is some of the best of the year. This movie is an utter joy, and the proof is watching the audience applaud at the end, then sing, whistle, and dance as they exit the theater. Treat yourself!

Review: A movie complete with great music, great sets, great costumes, great dancing, great acting and fabulous stars to bring it all together to make it an outstanding movie. One that I will see again and again. I almost gave it a standing ovation, until reason prevailed and I realized I was watching a movie, not a stage show. Kudos to all who made this film possible!
