Rating: Summary: Awesomely funny & entertaining. Review: For all those anti-BB2000 reviewers, let's get real: This movie isn't about comedy only, but about the Blues' sound. The fact that it is able to work comedy into it, is a plus. Comedy is comedy whether you like an intellectual pun or slipping on a banana peel. Before you start hollowering about the sequal; a story has to stand on its own, otherwise it is known as a 'Part-2'. Thus this movie stands fine by itself just like Ghostbusters-2 did. It is funny, entertaining, and a very good tribute to the Blues' sound. What is more important to note is that each Blues Brothers & Ghostbusters series is BEST watched with the original & the sequal back-to-back together for the full effect! Watching one without the other is like going to college and insisting on the freshman year only & ignoring the senior year. If that is the case, then stay in high school.
Rating: Summary: Blues Brothers Forever Review: Okay, so maybe 2000 isnt as great as the original Blues Bros, but cut it some slack. It wasnt all that bad, and the music was really great! Jonny Lang, BB King, Eric Clapton, and of course Elwood! C'mon, it doesnt get much better. Its not the same without Jake, but I liked it.
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected. Rating: Summary: Great music. Review: This is a very bad movie but that is no reason to rent it because the music is so good.
Rating: Summary: Good music Bad movie Review: The music is good in this movie, but I barly got through the movie. The acting is bad, the story is stupid. And all the magic crap screws the whole movie up. Get the sound track but dont waste your money on the movie
Rating: Summary: Satisfying but not filling Review: So I have rented the movie once, saw it once, but right after I rented it I went out and bought the soundtrack, but not the movie. So that sums it up for the movie, the music is great, especially if you like blues/R&B (The Gator Boys 'Dream Team' band at the end is especially memorable). But the movie itself is just so-so. The villains are not as fun as the original. I prefer the Good Ole Boys, The illinois nazi and even the guy who played X in the X-files to the Russians, but still, the music makes the movie
Rating: Summary: This Movie is the best!!!! Aykroyd & Goodman are the best!! Review: If you loved: The Blues Brothers. Then you'll love: Blues Brothers 2000. This is, John Landis's, coolest movie. Too bad, Jake Blues, died. But Elwood, leading the band, is a great thing. Dan Aykroyd is the best, and John Goodman, sings one heck, of a song! Watch Blues Brothers 2000, and you'll dance, cheer, and laugh, til' you dress, Black, and sing the blues!
Rating: Summary: Thank goodness for DVD chapter jumps Review: Most of this movie is virtually unwatchable. Of the 41 chapters on the DVD, there are 5, and that includes the closing credits, that'd I'd want to see again, all excellent musical numbers. A movie can't be all bad that has Eric Clapton and B.B. King on guitar. On the other hand, a movie can't be called good that has a plot that defines contrived, 4 real actors in a cast of dozens, indifferent cinematography, lazy direction, and John Goodman in the place of John Belushi. It is an insult to the memory of the hallowed original that this movie was released.
Rating: Summary: Music makes it!`` Review: The plot, acting, etc are not nearly as good as the first, but the music, especially the last two Jams are spectacular. Putting this many great musicians in one place usually falls apart to egos, but not here. Must buy sound trackl
Rating: Summary: The best musical sequel since the original Blues Brothers Review: If you like great music, a great story, plenty of action, and great comedy then this is the movie for you. The story leaves off where we find Elwood J. Blues still in the slammer only to find out on the day of his release, that his brother Jake has died. He goes back to see "The Penguin" to also receive the news of their mentor Curtis' death. It's also the place where he finds out that he has a "step-brother", Cabel Chamberlain. The "Penguin" appoints him as a mentor to a feisty 10yr.old named Buster. And while finding his bandmates, he meets up with new member,a singing bartender named "Mighty Mack", from Willy's Strip-bar. So "Mighty Mack","Buster", and Elwood embark to reunite his band To compete at "Queen Moussette's" battle of the bands. There is an array of musical legends in this picture; a lot of talent all from different musical backgrounds; Pop, R&B,Jazz, even Country, such as Travis Tritt, Aretha Franklin, Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, and blues newcomer, Johnny Lang. DON'T MISS IT!!!
