Summary: the worst
Review: sorry... but this movie is HORRIBLE... ok the end scene IS cool... but thats it. scattered good shots, but pulled off VERY lazily. worth seeing.. NOT worth buying. any comparison to "a clockwork orange" is an outrage.. nothing like it.. Mr. kubrick was a genius -DePalma's a hack... look at "raising cain" and "snake eyes" umm... anybody see "body double"?? talk about lame.

Summary: Phantom of the Paradise, best movie of all time
Review: A great version of Faust, best movie of all time. Occultists will understand, the masses will not. The album is a work of genius, and the movie is pretty cool.

Summary: Must be rediscovered by today's audiences
Review: I sat through 3 consecutive showings upon its original release. Williams' music and DePalma's visual sensibilities combine these two classic tales and sweep the viewer through a thoughtful and humorous fantasy adventure. It' entertaining!

Summary: On okay musical, but nothing revolutionary
Review: A very original but not quite expressive movie with a plot that evolves way too quickly, Phantom of the Paradise is an honorable attempt to make fun of Faust and Phantom of the Opera, but it isn't much more than that. The music is fabulous, but the plot is episodic, with a clear objective to please the audience at the expense of artistry. The technical style of certain scenes is stunning, but they also vary tremendously in quality throughout the movie. Overall, the film deserves to be seen and loved, but it's definitely not a masterpiece and does not deserve to be known as one of De Palma's dreatest achievements. For that, the film simply lacks substance.

Summary: The most beautiful, touching movie I have ever seen
Review: Wow, this is really something special. The story is fabulous and intense, the music is heavenly, Jessica Harper and Willam Finley are marvellous in their roles, and Beef is priceless! I definitely recommend this to any fan of music, the Phantom story, any of the actors, Brian DePalma, love stories... and if your not a fan of at least one of those see this movie and you will be, I promise!

Summary: Great Music! Great Cast! Great Film!
Review: Incredibly, by the mid 70's this was a Cult movie in Buenos Aires, Argentina where I used to live. Every Saturday night for several years, I think, long lines formed outside a downtown cinema and you usually met people who had seen this movie 10 or more times.(I probably saw it 5 or 6 times myself) And there was a reason, it was a great film, with great music and acting. I never forgot it and having seen it again I find that it has not lost any of the virtues that make this film unforgettable.

Summary: One of the best!!!
Review: I saw this movie in its first release and was captivated even at the tender age of 11. I wanted to be heroine and used to practice "Old Souls" for hours. Now I am an old soul and love the movie even more! Would love to see a re-release in the theatre.

Summary: A must see for anyone who liked Rocky Horror
Review: I saw this baby in the theatres and used to have the soundtrack on vinyl!! I adore the music and concider this to be Jessica Harper's best roll I've ever seen her in.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Brian E. DePalma (Genius)
Review: A modern day Masterpiece!!! Love the "Life at last" scene... Score and the story are remarkably well matched. BRAVO!!!
