Rating: Summary: Please Don't Waste Your Time! Review: Okay. I think Kelly Clarkson has a great voice and everything, but that doesn't mean anything when it comes to movies. Watching Jay Leno one night, I had heard a hilarious joke about it, and, ever since then, I have laughed at the idea of watching this. When I did watch this movie, I realizedit wasn't as bad as I thought it was, it was worse. The singing is great, but the dancing is horrible. This ISN'T a teenage movie, but for kids who think that they are teenagers. It has one of those traditional plots where good always prevails, and, the irony is that they took Kelly Clarkson, a bartender, and made her into one man's(if that's what u call Justin Guarini)love. America, this is what I voted to be the worst movie ever,(aside from the Cable Guy)!
Rating: Summary: All You Care About Is Money? Review: I never really watched "American Idol" maybe once or twice but I had heard Kelly Clarkson sing and her voice was beautiful so I decided to watch this movie. How bad could it be, right? I'm not a big fan of musicals, the songs were OK in this movie. The acting was terrible (I'm sorry to say but thats just the truth!) but it looked like they had a fun time making it. The storyline was pathetic. The ups and down of a relationship comes by so fast that it was so unreal. The evil friend, the nice friend that comes across as a doof as she makes her "boyfriend" lose his job and then theres Kelly the sweet, caring girl thats nice and funny with a sarcastic sense. And then theres the guys. The one guys whos a sort of computer nerd doof. Then theres the guy that only cares about the girls and money. Then theres Justin the sweet, hanging out with the wrong crowd, funny and nice guy. Predictable? Very. Stupid? Very. Will you like it? Probably not. Shoudl you buy it? No. Don't buy this film. The people at the oh-so-friendly "American Idol" only want to make money out of your mistakes. The American Idol craze is what started it all. Mr. American Idol and his buddies said, "Lets make a movie. Like a musical. We'll make more money!" Well, thats a tad bit selfish, don't you think? Don't help them become billionares. They have enough money for life. They just put togethar a lame storyline and dressed it up with Kelly and Justin and a few dance moves. "Thats our movie! They'll love it! They'll love anything if we tell them to!" Well I didn't. This was garbage. So why'd I give it a 2/5? Because Kelly has a good voice. And it looked like she tryed her best. Good job, Kelly. But thats all. Don't buy this or heck, even watch it. Its disgusting. Overall: Put that movie down!! Its a waste of your time and YOUR precious money that your givign to people who don't deserve it!
Rating: Summary: Loved It Review: I Really Really Enjoyed This Movie, I Dont Know Why, I Mean I Love Kelly, She Is Soo Beautiful & The Girl Has The Most Amazing Voice, I Also Love Justin, Honestly I Would've Liked The Movie Without The Singing In The Middle Of The Movie, But I Guess It Wasnt Half Bad, I Just Wish They'd Do A Soundtrack
Rating: Summary: Was This Supposed to be a Joke? Review: In all honesty, I love musicals, and I'm really looking forwards to the next season of American Idol, but this film is just a manifestation of everything and anything that could possibly go wrong with merging the two mediums. After hearing the outpouring of bad reviews, I decided I could live without seeing this movie, but alas, I got hit with it on the airplane a few weeks ago. I didn't have to watch it, I was just morbidly curious. True, Kelly and Justin aren't very good actors, but the shortcomings of this film aren't completely their fault. There's the bad writing, the bad direction, bad music, cliched plot devices - this project didn't have a prayer. It also didn't help that it seemed no one in the cast or crew really seemed to care about the film either.
Rating: Summary: Not bad but I have seen a whole lot better Review: Ok... I was too embarrased to see the movie in theatres but once it came out on DVD...I saw it. Ok it is one of those movies that is not horribly bad but at the same time ... it is really not that great either. First of the movie was rushed... I can not believe someone actually thought this movie would make more than the matrix.. the matrix probably spent the same amount of money on their wardrobe with the money this movie grossed the first weekend. Justin is a decent actor... I can definitely see him in film in the future ... but for his co-star, Kelly.. I can't say she was horrible but I don't think acting is her element. The script was cheezy and the wardwrobe was horrid... Kelly's dismal teal top in the end sequence... what was assistant thinking? Tie skirts..what a fashion statement. The dancing sequences and the whole movie seemed so choppy that it was so annoying to watch. I watched the extended version and wondered why the heck they deleted Justins scene and the dance scene "Brighter Star". It made the movie more interesting and it made sense. Oh well. Everyone says this movie is not for critics.. but for the fans. What makes 19 entertainment think that people enjoy wasting their precious money and time on low budget movies and bad acting? If you are going to do something.. do it right , and not play on the intelligence of people thinking that just cuz they enjoyed the show.. that they are just going to enjoy anything that the cut and join together!! After the movie.. since it was so subpar..we immediately watched Moulin Rouge to get the previous experience out of our heads... my cousin said it felt like going from a Grade D movie to a Grade A+.... Bottom line.. if you have time on your hands and money to waste.. watch it.. for the most part it's entertaining... but if not.. wait till it comes on pay per view!
Rating: Summary: Worst movie EVER MADE.... Review: My daughter begged me to watch this movie with her.. THANK GOD we didn't buy it.. I would have to say, this is the WORST MOVIE EVER made.. You tell me ONE movie that's worse than this one?? You can't. This is just the Americal Idol producers looking to make more $$$ off the Americal Idol empire.. BAD ACTING... COMPLETLY BAD.. they can sing. but thats about it.. This movie is NOT wholesome either, and I wouldnt let my child buy it after viewing it now. Anyone who says this movie is fantastic or great or the "best movie" they have ever seen, need to take a look at what a "good" movie is and what "good" acting is.. because it wasnt displayed here at all.. This movie should have went RIGHT to DVD.. I'm not suprised it BOMBED in the BOX OFFICE.. If only there were a 0 out of 5 star rating..
Rating: Summary: decent dance routines, but as a whole not very good Review: A Film by Robert Iscove I read a professional review (Owen Gleiberman, EW) of this movie that called From Justin to Kelly "Grease: The Next Generation acted out by the food court staff at Sea World." I previously had no intention of ever watching this movie but when I read that review I felt that I just had to see the movie, just to see if it could possibly be *that* bad. I'm not sure any movie could be quite as bad as Mr. Gleiberman thinks this one is, and to be honest, From Justin to Kelly is not that bad. Make no mistake about it, it isn't a good movie, but by no means is it as bad as what the food court staff at Sea World could do. Here's the plot: Kelly (Kelly Clarkson) is a waitress in a bar in Texas. She and two of her friends drive out to Miami for Spring Break. Justin (Justin Guarini) and two of his friends are also heading out to Miami, both for some fun as well as to promote some parties and events there. Justin and Kelly meet and are interested in each other but there is always some thing going wrong when they try to get together. The movie is a musical, so every now and again they bust in to song and dance. None of the songs are that good, though they try hard. The movie has the kind of parties where everyone knows all the moves to the dance, and so we have Justin and Kelly walking along the beach when the start singing and everyone on the beach starts a choreographed dance routine. The dance routines are probably the best part of the movie, and I was a little impressed by Justin and Kelly's dancing. It's more than I can do. To be charitable, the movie's audience is probably not a twentysomething male, but rather the preteen crowd. On that level, it may work. Nothing about this movie suggests that From Justin to Kelly is as bad as Mr. Gleiberman's review. The movie is not horrible. It is not an abomination, and it is not a crime against humanity (as I have seen some user reviewers state). From Justin to Kelly is just not a good movie. Nothing more, nothing less.
Rating: Summary: GOOD MOVIE BETTER THAN GREASE Review: This movie opens with Kelly performing at a bar where she works....as she gets off stage a guy whos been wanting her trys to pick her up aperently for like the millionth time...hjer two friends trick her to going to spring break in miami. There she meets justin and there is an istant attraction...but kellys supposed best frind Alexis gives justin the wrong number and trys evereything to keep them apart...even when shes caught the first time she gets out of it somehow to again try and keep them apart. I like musicals alot and the musioc in this movie is acctaully really cool...you even get two extra dance scenes with this dvd...plus it comes in wide screen and full screen versions on either side of the disk....for some reason this wasnt a massive hit but once you give this dvd a try you know you'll love it.
Rating: Summary: Anyone who doesn't like this movie... Review: ... is a bloody hater. And that's a fact, Jack! This movie was killed at the box office by bad "buzz" and terrible marketing... neither of which has anything to do with the quality of the movie itself. The story keeps you interested. The music and singing is awesome. The dance numbers are amazing. I love it. The extras on the DVD are very funny and interesting as well. Rent it first if you must, but you'll just wind up buying it anyhow, so what's the point.
Rating: Summary: PERFECT FOR THE YOUNGSTERS!!! Review: First off, i will say this is a movie for the kids. it was advertised as that, and that is exactly what it is. i took my 10 yr. old grandaughter and her cousin to see it in the theatre and they were absolutely mezmerized. they were even dancing in the aisles as were a many others. it was so cute, they LOVED it. the first thing she asked me to get her for her birthday was the DVD and when i arrived at the party yesterday she ran up to me and asked me if i got her what she wanted. i jokingly said i didn't know what she was talking about, and she got this look on her face (she was not happy) and she said "you know..From Justin to Kelly". You should have seen the look on her face when she unwrapped the present. woohooooo!! GREAT MOVIE FOR THE KIDS (I LIKED IT TOO)..GREAT SINGING, GREAT DANCING AND A REALLY CUTE AND WHOLESOME STORY!!!
