Summary: Garbage
Review: This is supposed to be based on the Tim "Ripper" Owens story of Judas Priest fame.

It is not.

Instead, its a bunch of tounge in cheek jokes about Rob Halford and heavy metal in general.

The end of the film pretty much pisses over the 80's and heavy metal. It gives no justice to the rock and roll lifestyle. At the end of the movie, they make it seem that alternative/grunge is the music of the future (ugh!).

For god's sake, it has Marky mark in it!!

The only cool thing about this movie is the Cameo appearances by many musicians, including Zakk Wylde. The soundtrack is also pretty good.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Thoroughly entertaining
Review: This movie belongs with "The Doors," "Spinal Tap" and "8 Mile" though it is not the same as any of the others. The four would be good choices for a night of watching movies about rock.
Much to my surprise, I am a Mark Wahlberg fan when it comes to his acting career. He was also excellent in "Boogie Nights." But then again, Eminem was excellent in "8 Mile," which I also wouldn't have predicted.
The reason I'm not giving this five stars is it lacks depth and it's a bit predictable. That said, Wahlberg does his job very well & Jennifer Anniston is very good as his girlfriend. Another highlight is the manager, who is very funny. A perfect representation of a certain type of person, really, and that's coming from someone who's from Britain.
Sometimes I just want to escape & be entertained, & this movie did that for me. I liked the music, too. And the movie matched my memories of 80s metal. Not that I was ever a huge fan, but it portrayed it the way I remember it.
Not a good choice for people who are offended by language, sex or substance abuse.

Summary: I didn't think I would like this movie
Review: I thought it would be sappy and melodramatic, but it's actually funny and *shock* intelligent. It's Spinal Tap: Vol 2. Give this one a try if you like to make fun of '80s rock stars.

Summary: not the true story of tim owens or judas priest
Review: Who of us who were coming up with the hair bands of the 80's DIDN'T want this to happen to them??? This movie is so much fun, if for no other reason than I would have given my left 'nad at age 16 for this to have happened to me!! It brought back some really fond memories of those hard rockin' days of old. Even if it does have cheesy moments - and who didn't have a cheesy moment in the 80's?? - it is WELL worth watching and owning. Remember two things: 1) IT'S A MOVIE and 2) IT'S MEANT TO BE FUN!! Enjoy!
