Summary: Coming full circle, yes, we get it!!!
Review: There is little else I hate more in a film other than when a director and/or writer insist on hitting the audience over the head repeatedly just to see if we were smart enough to catch the big, over obvious message. This seems to happen REPEATEDLY in Rock Star.
In short, this is a film about coming full circle and realizing you were better off in the beginning than while you were on this journey looking for the proverbial "greener grass" elswhere. The circling dialogues get repeated to the point of mockery, and the stereotyped rock star life is the only thing we get to see. The film is so cliched, it is a cliche. Perhaps this was the point, but it makes for bad cinema.
The only good thing was Mark Wahlberg's performance. How he was able to find depth and meaning in this absolutely vapid story is credit to his abilities. For his performance, I grant the film two stars. For the film itself, I thought it was the worst imitation of Almost Famous, Boogie Nights, and Superstar. Jennifer Aniston's character as the suffering, supportive girlfirend is not allowed much depth, but then again, you can't help but feel she is just playing her Rachel character from Friends, just with longer hair. Don't waste your time unless you are a devoted Wahlberg fan.

Summary: Good but cheesy movie
Review: Although 80's heavy metal was certainly at times over the top, I don't think it was as bad as the movie tried to show.I like Mark Wahlberg, and after the abysmal Planet of the Apes, I was hoping that he would get a more interesting role, which in this film, he plays very well. Unfortunately, Anniston is simply there to fill film space as his girlfiend. The other annoying part of this film is the end, where they insinuate that the fledgling grunge and alternative movement was more 'real'. Despite its many flaws, this is still a fun movie for a
night out, but nothing more.

Summary: Rock Star, an inspiring tale
Review: Rock Star is for those people in search of a film with new meaning. It is unlike anything else that you would see in the movie theater or video store. The film tells the story of a wannabe fan who is suddenly facing the harsh world of stardom. The film has some good themes that will leave you thinking about what you want to do with the rest of your life, and if it is the right thing to do. Rock Star is a great dipiction of someones fantasy turned reality, plus a bunch of things inbetween.

Summary: Rack Star, Rocks HARD!
Review: For me, I have always been a bit troubled by the 80's "the decade to forget," with horrid hair, and trampy fashions. Rock Star, however, shows the 80's as the hot and sexy years of hair bands. Jennifer Aniston sparkels, in an amazing potral of the troubled girlfriend of a "wanna be" rock star. When this wanna be "gets to be" things throw their world off course with sizzeling drama. While the movie scares you with a vivid look of the down side of fame, it also keeps spirits high with all the ups. The movie is interesting and lively till the beutiful end.

Summary: Mark Wahlberg Surprisingly Gifted in Good Rock Film
Review: My estimation is growing for Mark Wahlberg as an actor. I never saw or heard him when he was singer Marky Mark but that he can sing and act made him a natural for this film. He is the very best thing in the film and I think his is a career to watch. Is this equal to Oliver Stone's "The Doors"? No, it is not. That film was the defining one for what a rock and roll film could be when told in an extremely artistic, non-linear fashion. This is a much lighter film that tells its story in rather linear fashion about a young guy who sings in a cover band who gets the chance to sing in the real heavy metal band he's been covering (he sings their songs rather than his own, a big no-no in the rock world). Once in this band, he is tempted by all the usual rock and roll excesses and the big question is how he will come out in the end. The supporting cast is good but not exceptional in any way. This is the best film I've seen Wahlberg in since "Boogie Nights" and I think if he picks his roles carefully, he can go a long way. If you are a fan of heavy metal music, you will probably like the music better than I did. I liked the music in "The Doors" much better. The poetic works done by the Doors made for a far more memorable musical experience.

Summary: Rockstar Rocks
Review: I walked into the theatre remembering various scenes from Planet of the Apes (a stupid remake of the original that sullies Mark Wahlberg's career) and expecting Rock Star to bomb out entirely- but all of that was wiped away the second it stared. I loved the entire movie from start to finish. What with the music, colours, and rushes of adrenalin, I couldn't even make myself leave until the last credit. The funny thing is that I couldn't stop thinking of how hilarious it must have been for Mark and Jennifer, who had to re-live the the tackiest decade in history...
It has definitely made my top 10.

Summary: Fantastic
Review: Old enough to remember the hype about Marky Mark and his Calvins, I was leery when this movie first came out. From the previews, it appeared to be a cheesy commentary on heavy metal ala Bon Jovi. Nerveless, I was getting tired of seeing the same thing over and over again, and really though this would be different. Perhaps I would give it a chance Am I glad I trusted my instincts on this. In the hands of lesser talents, this movie would be a complete flop, but the director was blessed with the foresight to pick the perfect storyline and cast. Walhberg plays Chris, a non-descript heavy metal fan who gets to live out his wildest dreams of playing in his favorite band when one of the initial members leaves. Fun and mayhem ensure as Chris discovers just what a Rock Star's life is really like. He even sings some of the vocals in the band's tracks. The music was so infectious, I found myself bouncing up in down in the theater seats. Like the plot, the music is larger than life and implies the unlikeliest heroes can have the biggest impact in the end.Chris is not a scholarly genius, but a nice kid who faces extrordinary opportunities. Even though it features Jennifer Aniston (Chris's girlfriend/manager), whose talents are vastly exaggerated, I loved the movie and found myself giggling throughout the screenplay. Her role in the production is inconsequential and the action revolves around Chris' and his self-discovery. Life does not get any easier regardless of whatever stage you are at, but it does offer new and unique challenges.

Review: It would have gotten a 3 except for the ending. Making a reference to grunge being more "real" ruined it for me. Jennifer Aniston's character has no life to it at all. The movie started out good, but became cliche very quickly. The guest stars were better then the main characters. Mark Wahlberg was pretty weak as well.
