Rating: Summary: A Brilliant Musical Comedy Review: When you put together Rick Moranis,Steve Martin,a giant plant who feeds off human blood, and a fabulous rock music score, what do you get? "Little Shop of Horrors",that's what! Rick Moranis is Seymour,an orphan who wants nothing more than to get out of his drab town("Downtown")and find love with his co-worker,Audrey.(Ellen Greene)However, that's not really possible while working in Skid Row at Mushnik's Flower Shop.(Mr. Mushnik is played by Vincent Gardenia)However, that all changes when Seymour discovers a strange plant during a solar eclipse and christens it "Audrey 2".Things pick up at the flower shop when customers begin pouring in to see the plant-and making poor Seymour's life a little more bearable.Until, that is,Seymour discovers that his precious plant can only live on human blood.("Feed Me")With nowhere to turn,Seymour must find a way to keep Audrey 2 alive, while getting Audrey 1 to fall in love with him. Although Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene are superb as Seymour and Audrey, the celeb cameos sometimes steal the show.Steve Martin is perfect as the sadistic dentist and Audrey's abusive boyfriend,Orin. His sole musical number("Dentist!") is my personal favorite.Orin's hyperactive masochistic patient is played by Bill Murray in his prime. Some other celebs pop up in the movie too, such as John Candy. Levi Stubbs of the Four Tops is the voice of Audrey 2,an excellent role with some showstopping musical numbers. And last but definitely not least, three newcomers play Ronnette,Chiffon, and Crystal, the Supremes-type singers known as the Doo Wops. This cast and the script make it a perfect show.Enjoy!

Rating: Summary: Incredible. Review: What do American do best? They do what they love: make movies, play baseball, take over small countries sometimes...well, never mind that. Let's stick with the movies for now. Yes, WE are hands down the BEST at making movies. Do you disagree with me? So? This movie, "LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS", which was origionally an off-off broadway play (based on a "B" horror movie--but you knew that) went on to beat out "CATS" as the NY Drama Critics "Best Musical of 1983" is SO AMERICAN in its hip wit and sophistication it stands alone as a parody of every beloved movie style, other than the western and the large scale action adventure movie. The music is core here. The score was written by the late great team of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken, and I read that this movie/play had its inception when Ashman saw Corman's flick on tv as a kid and decided to write a 50's style horror flick with his collaborator Menken as a take off of this sub genre of cheapo horror movies we all know and love so well. Because of their talent, humour, and intelligence, we get so much more than just outstanding music and a goofy plot. Couple the music with an incredible cast which includes perfect nebbish/hero Rick Moranis and viler than vile Steve Martin, plus Ellen Greene and her lush "surroundsound" voice; belting yet vulnerable (how does she DO THAT? AMAZING). Levi Stubbs (from the 4 Tops) rips out all the stops as Audrey II, space plant superbo ( you can tell he is having fun). There are slick cameo appearances by Bill Murray, Christopher Guest, John Candy and others. What have you got here then? You have the ULTIMATE, CLASSIC, PERFECT, MUSICAL COMEDY TAKE OFF, SCI FI TAKE OFF, HORROR MOVIE TAKE OFF... HILARIOUS ...UH..keep going... OFF OFF B'WAY, to OFF BWAY, to MOVIE to "I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN"--because only WE could have done this! ... THING. Do not kid yourself that "Rocky Horror Picture Show" comes up to this standard. This movie stands alone. Buy it, love it, just don't show it to your little kids or whenever they see a plant at the dentist's office you will be in for another couple of years of therapy for them down the line. A truly great classic. best wishes, Jean
Rating: Summary: Rare American wit, and dare say, originallity... Review: When America offers something that original, grab it!The idea of a dentist (Steve Martin) who chooses dentistry because he was an extreemly cruel child, is only one of many scenes, deliverd with spectacular originallity. This movie is full of humour rather than comedy. Some of us know the different...
Rating: Summary: little shop of horrors is horror master, not a good thing. Review: This movie is not to be viewed by little kids, because I have for two years after viewing it had a very hard time sleeping. If you would like your kids not wanting to eat greens, because of this movie sure go ahead.
Rating: Summary: Not like the play, but stands on its own Review: If you are familiar with this play, then you will be in for a surprise with the film. There are some basic and some huge differences between the two, but the number of stars that appear in the film from time to time will keep you entertained and will keep your attention. It can be scary for younger kids, so watch the rating on this one.
Rating: Summary: A review for the BEST film ever Review: Little shop of Horrors was the best film I ever saw. I never tire of it! I think the actors play the charactures very well. I love the music in little shop of horrors, I find the music more pleasant to listen to than pop music. The film is weird and wonderful-just like me!
