Summary: Wonderful Film, Great DVD!
Review: What else is there to say about this classic film that hasn't already been said? That it has been declared a National Treasure just about says it all. So let's talk about the DVD itself. If you love this movie (and who on the planet doesn't?), the DVD's special features offer a veritable banquet of behind-the-scenes information and outtakes. It starts with the documentary about the film, warmly hosted by the wonderful Angela Lansbury, and includes a fascinating audio program of some of the original recording sessions, including several takes of "Over the Rainbow", and amazing segments of Munchkin songs--hear how the voices sound BEFORE they were sped up to create the now classic Munchkin chirps. One Munchkin voice is also the familiar voice of Disney's Goofy, unmistakeable when heard at normal speed, but virtually indetectable when played at Munchkin speed. Highly recommended DVD.

Summary: A Timeless Classic and then some!
Review: I will never get tired of watching this movie, Watching it on DVD made it even more enjoyable, The picture is crisp and everything is exactly as I remember it from my childhood. The Special features help you to understand just how far ahead of their time the movie makers were. The Documentary hosted by Angela Lansbury is very informative and dispells some of the Behind-the-scenes rumors we have heard throughout the years.

Summary: MGM version is superior to WB
Review: When there is a version such as the MGM DVD why would anyone buy the WB DVD. I have watched both and there is no comparison. The detail and color in the MGM DVD is absolutely gorgeous. I will be selling the WB version that I bought. The WB version lacks much of the detail that is in the MGM DVD and the background is blurry. The colors on the WB are ok but are not in the same league with the MGM DVD. The WB DVD looks like it was copied off a VHS tape. It would be nice if we could see the film (any film) before we buy it. It is possible that I have a defective DVD, but I am not going to buy another WB DVD to find out. I am more than content with the MGM DVD that I have. The movie gets a 5 and WB got my money.

For sixty years this movie has been the perfect choice for childeren and adults to watch and enjoy. The story is about Dorthy Gale who lives in Kansas with her aunt and uncle. When Dorthy decides to run away from home because of her feelings being empty a tornado hits and she and her house are taken to another world, the Land of Oz. A place where she finds friends like she never imagined like Glinda the good witch of the north, the beautiful witch who gives her the rubey slippers which posses power like any unknown. The scarecrow, a friendly man of clothing and straw who wants a brian, the tin woodsman, a sweet man made of tin who wants a heart, the lion, a kind and cowardly forest animal who wants courage and the wicked witch of the west, a evil witch who wants the rubey slippers and revenge on Dorthy for accidently killing her sister, the wicked witch of the east. As Dorthy and her friends follow the yellow brick to the emerald city, the place where the great and powerful and mysterious Wizard of Oz lives the magic of this film can tell the rest.
