Summary: Great Movie
Review: This movie was awesome. Jesus Christ Superstar was full of great acting, great music and a great plot. I especially like Hared's part in the movie. He was so funny. I really like Yvonne Elliman's solos and the powerful voice of Ted Neeley blew me away. This flick seems really abstract but that's what makes Jesus Christ Superstar so good. Not only does this movie deserve a look but five stars as well.

Summary: Really good, though inaccurate
Review: This movie was an interesting and creative production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's rock opera. The music and lyrics are powerful and haunting, and the cast put their hearts and (forgive the pun) souls into their perfomances, making the characters realistic, passionate, and sympathetic. The costumes look dated today, which, at the time the film was made, was sort of the point, to bring the story of Jesus' final week into a modern setting. The reason I can't give five stars though, is because the story's ending is ambiguous: Judas commits suicide, but gets back on the bus? Jesus, who according to the text this story is taken from (the Bible) rose from the dead three days later, at the end is missing? And to add to the ambiguity, notice the shadowy figure walking at the bottom of the screen in the final shot. We could perhaps assume that's supposed to be Jesus, but why is he left behind? I don't quite blame the film for this, ALW & TR left us all hanging at the end of their piece, much like they left Jesus hanging there. As a portrayal of Christ's final week the story is innacurate and incomplete, but is still thought provoking and intense. Definitely worth a viewing.

Summary: Good Musical!
Review: I love the music and excitement displayed throughout this film. The ending rather sad sniff , sniff. A full five stars! I found some scenes funny too though. Give this film a whirl.

Summary: The Real Story
Review: A bunch of hippies following a guru, one honest man who loves more than any other tries to explain the true meaning of heaven and is crucified, a confused deciple questions his exsitense: it's the real story! This isn't your run-of-the-mill believe or perish story of Christ. This Christ talks about love as opposed to war. This Judas goes to heaven. He asks the same questions many who are willing to look at Christ with an open mind do. "Were you real? Are you with Buddha and Mohammad?" Aint no talk of hell here. Jesus Christ Superstar rocks! The culturally diverse cast entering and exiting on an Israeli bus along with machine guns and fighter jets make you think about peace and what Christ was really trying to say.

Summary: Simply Wonderful
Review: I really don't have much to say about this, except that its brilliant. I have loved this movie ever since I can remember.

Summary: See this MOVIE
Review: Ted Neely voice and acting ability are wonderful as Jesus. This musical is one of my favorite shows of all time. Cal Anderson as Judas is so phenomenal, that since first seeing this film years ago, I have had the pleasure of seeing Carl anderson play this part live in three different productions of JCS. At first, some viewers may find some of the srt direction odd. But, keep in mind that their "set" was the actual places that Jesus may have walked and been. The music by Andrew Lloyd Webber is phenomenal. If you like rock, rock operas, musicals, or just good musioc this should be on your list!

Summary: the tour with Sebastian as Jesus was AMAZING!!
Review: The old is still great, but after seeing Mr. Bach sing Poor Jerusalem. We were absolutely speechless. I still love the DVD.
I just wish they had it with Sebastian Bach. It's not fair to Neeley, after hearing the passion and strength from Bach.
Also, like always Carl Anderson is great.

Great DVD, THANKS!!!

Summary: Places your Immortal Soul in jeopardy
Review: I have read reviews wherein friends have stated that, religious beliefs notwithstanding, it was a good film. How in the name of Hoot Gibson can a movie about Jesus be regarded as anything but religious. People are going to watch it and draw conclusions about the Life of Our Savior.

"For all you care, this bread could be My Body!" Are you kidding me? Where these the words with which He instituted the Eucharist?
I had a Catholic tell me that Jesus isn't REALLY present in the Eucharist. It's just a "symbol!" He may have gotten this impression from watching "Modernist" heresey like this movie.

I like to watch movies about my Faith, however, I reached a point, in my life, when I said that I would never again watch one about Our Lord.

Review: Truly magnificent - this has lived with me for years. All the more poignant when viewed without the religious connotations

Summary: The BEST cast!
Review: This original movie version of Lord Lloyd Webber's work stands out as the BEST version of JCS. Ted Neeley shines in his portrayal of Jesus, the casting couldn't have been better. Neeley's performance shows us what made Jesus so special, he was not a big man, he was not some larger-than-life WWE Wrestler, he was an average, if not small man, who did great things. Neeley's voice is powerful, and his performance brilliant. In "Gethsemane" his anguish evokes tears from any viewer. The rest of the cast is also stunning, Yvonne puts in her usual stellar performance of Mary Magdalene, and Carl's such a great Judas. Do not pass this movie over, and disregard any negative comments about Ted Neeley, this is a MUST for any JCS, or ALW fan.
