Summary: THE GREATEST WOMAN POP SINGER OF THE 20th CENTURY
Review: Judy Garland made many notable "comebacks" during her extraordinary 45 year long career. In 1951 at the London Palladium and New York Palace when she launched her post-movie concert career. In 1961 at Carnegie Hall when she had crowds cheering and applauding in joy. Well, 30 after her death, she's back again - showcased in a stunning dvd box set of 14 of her tv series episodes. The packaging is stylish with the cds encased in a "trunk" box, like the one Judy stands at to sing at the end of each show. The quality of the picture and sound is just remarkable. The shows are of their time but Judy and the best of her guests are timeless in their performances. Judy sings live for most of her numbers and she is a wonder to behold. The expressitvity in her peformance is for me unmatched by any other woman pop singer. And her unque gift is how she transfers the feelings of the song to the listener so you are totally caught up in the emotion. Her funny story telling is totally charming, and she shows what a generous performer she was in her interaction with her big name guests. Judy Garland has been called magical, legendary, miraculous, soulful, divine. This set presents her great talent in the best possible way. Buy it and behold the greatest woman pop singer of the twentieth century.

Review: Just got this box set.. I cannot stop watching it.. I too was born after this series was on TV in it's run... But, seeing the brillant picture and sound I'm sure it looks and sounds better than it did when it was being shown on CBS in it's only season.
My favorite parts of this box set are:
Mickey Rooney and Judy bringing their movie roles that they appeared in together while teenagers, as young 40 somethings in 1963.
Loved seeing Ray Bolger and Judy.. Loved the 1940's Melody by Martha Raye and Judy. You can tell how much June Allyson and Judy loved each other in the show with June in it. Loved the old Hollywood home movies of Ken Murray. Especially the one show featuring Judy and her hollywood friends back when everyone was young, and when times were more innocent before WW2.
Loved the extra of Mel Torme singing Don't get around much anymore... to Judy and June Allyson. June and Judy look like a bunch of teenagers swooning to Mel Torme.
I can't get over the amount of popular songs that are on this collection.. The best of the best.
Loved seeing Liza as a teenager. Too many talented guests only one tv show. Loved the Tea for Two... Steve Allen guest spot on one of the Dvd Bonuses. Would love to see Jack Paar show with appearnaces of the best of his guests which would include Judy. Hard to believe that 40 years ago, this show was ON Tv every week. Great paperback book included in this..
You feel like Judy is singing straight to you.
Loved the 2nd box collection too...
Both box sets combined will make the entire season of Judy's Tv series.

Summary: That's Entertainment!
Review: Okay...so first I bought this set and THEN I bought a DVD player. What does that tell you. This set, in one word: WOW! You could put all today's divas with their pyrotechnics and monster bands and, were she alive, Ms Garland would still blow them all away.

Summary: THIS IS IT! IF YOU OWN NOTHING ELSE....THIS IS THE ONE!
Review: The arrival of this long awaited masterpiece is greeted withsheer amazement and delight! Nowhere does there exist a comparableexample of Garland at the top of her form and the quality is just outstanding. It's hard to believe that these shows are actually almost 40 years old. When watching these DVDs and after reading the book that is contained in this gift set, the viewer has the feeling that he is actually a part of what took place. Buy it, own it, watch it and treasure it! This set is a bargain at any price to any Judy Garland fan. Truly amazing and spectacular! Five Stars and then some!

Summary: The top of the rainbow
Review: The engineers of this DVD set have done a remarkable job of restoring these kinescopes. It is bright and clear as if they had been shot this year.
The clarity only accentuates what a brilliant performer Judy Garland was! It is such a joy to see these shows that were made before I was born.

Summary: Impressive set but a bit disjointed...........
Review: The Judy Garland Show Collection is one of the most impressive undertakings ever seen. It contains what can now be called a time capsule into a world that no longer exists. Judy Garland has to be considered one of the most durable women in history, since when you read the marvelous book describing this TV series, you are left believing that this woman came close to death many times during the making of this series. The outtakes are incredible. However, I have two criticisms. First and foremost, why are these shows not presented in the order in which they were made? This set contains shows 1-6 and then skips right to 10. They are not even presented in order of airdate, which would not be the recommended way to watch them. Only watching them in the order they were made allows you to see why Jerry Van Dyke was dumped after show #10. He is easily one of the most limited and annoying so-called comedians of all time. My second beef is with the producers of this show for not making it in color. What were they thinking? All in all, a great set, but whoever decided that this set should be scattered episodes instead of the first 14 should be fired.

Summary: Judy's Great But Not For Everyone?
Review: The new DVD collection of "The Judy Garland Show" is long awaited by most Judy fans. The collection for the most part showcases many exciting songs done only the way Judy could. The best thing about seeing this collection is watching Judy sing which is almost as intriguing as listening to her. Her sense of direction and energy not only builds to explosive levels but takes you completely away from reality into the world of Judy Garland! Another amazing observation is that if you look at Judy's costumes and hair style she was portrayed so ahead of her time that she is still very "IN" and will never be forgotten or lost in time. But be careful here....there are times when even the most hard core Judy fan can get bored as scenes with Jerry Van Dyke for example drag on and should have been left out as, aside from being part of the original show, are dated and not very amusing which leads one to wonder what he was doing there in the first place. A Garland fest for sure but mostly for the diehard who has to see every last moment of this terrific legend!

Summary: JUDY JUDY JUDY
Review: These are truly shinning hours. Perhaps the best collection of an artist to appear on DVD. Judy is presented in suburb black and white with an outstanding surround sound that is devastating. The quest are wonderful with a special tribute to Vic Diamone, Dihanne Carroll, Lena, and Liza that top the list. The audience is even star struck. This is a rare chance to see the worlds greatest singer/actress at her best. These are not lost memories for they are reproduced here in better quality than you will ever see them, or have ever seen them before. WOW--can't wait for the second addition.

Summary: What's Not To Like?
Review: These re-mastered DVD versions of the original Judy Garland Show from 1963-1964 are to be cherished to be sure! No worries here (with the digital DVD format) about degradation of the video, no rewinding, no snowy picture, and best of all .... Judy looks and sounds sensational in these programs! You'll never hear her sounding better than during this short-lived one-season endeavor. A shame it wasn't renewed for a longer run. Several interesting guest stars add further depth to these stylish CBS-TV productions, including 17-year-old daughter Liza Minnelli, who's in fine voice herself during her appearances with her famous mom! The book included was also a nice bonus, adding even more insight into this most fascinating television series, which was treated more as a special weekly "event", rather than just an ordinary show. And it was too!! You're going to love, too, the outstanding quality of the black-and-white images of these programs! Excellent clarity for shows that are nearing their 40th birthday!
