Summary: Cats is the BEST
Review: When I found out that Cats was gonna stop in the US i had to get the video. When I went to see it I was 16 rows from the front and I couldn't see there faces very clearly but the music was great. And in the video you can see their faces up close and all the detailed make up, and the music is still great too. The movie is perfect. If your a fan of cats or even if your not you should definetly pick this video up.

Summary: The shallowness and rootless of the American culture
Review: This musical was praised so much by the press. So I bought the video tape. I'm deeply dispointed by it. To summerize, it's basically an aerobics, not even the great ones. It has no contents, ok almost none. The acting is 3rd rate. The performance of Elaine Paige, however, is the first rate. As the music is concerned, there some great pieces, but far from all. To keep your dream alive, don't watch it. By the way I know a great piece of music or art when I see one. This is not one.

Summary: What Do you get when you put 2 geniuses together............
Review: What do you get when you put literary icon TS Elliot and the brillant Broadway mind of Andrew Lloyd Weber together... the longest running musical in history...CATS! The musical CATS is not about plot or a storyline. It's about great tunes, memorable poetry and out-of-this-world costuming combined with great talents of Broadway singers and dancers. One of the most sung songs in all of Americana history comes from this play..."Memory". Check this movie out if you really want to relax and just enjoy art.

Summary: something you never get tired of!
Review: This musical, is something that you can never ever get tired of! I'm in love with the cast, characters, costumes, dancing, singing, and acting! CATS has made me want to be in musicals when I become older! :) I want to be in CATS badly, but it's very hard to decide who to be! I mean because of Jo Gibb I want to be Rumpleteazer! because of Veerle I want to be Jemima! because of Phyllida I want to be Victoria! And well you get the point! :) I want to be Bomb and Demeter, and Etcetera too! But I HAVE come up with a name! (it was hard to decide! but I did it!) yes, if you have read "Jellicle Frank's" reviews you WILL see me in there :) I have met the most wonderful people! Jellicle Frank, Mungo, Angelcat, Neppy, and so many more! :) I love them all dearly and I might be able to meet two of them this summer! so you see, CATS is truley amazing! :) It will be a treasure of mine forever! CATS FOREVER!

Summary: Cats: The Musical
Review: Over all, I loved it. I just wish that all of the words and songs could have made it on the tape in their entirety, but alas what can I say, 2 hours just isn't enough! In this video production of Cats, Ken Page (from the Broadway soundtrack) and Elaine Paige and Susan Jane Tanner (from the London soundtrack) reprise their roles as Deuteronomy, Grizabella and Jellylorum (respectfully) (there may be others but these are the only soundtracks I got :) ). It is very close to the stage production that came through Wichita a few years back and blends the style from the Broadway and some of the lyrics from the London productions into one. I like the fact that you can tell it was done in a theater it gives the show character. The sound and performance is excellent. I personally think that the video sounds better than either soundtrack. The performers do a great job of portraying their cat's character and they don't go too fast on "The Naming of Cats" and "The Jellicle Ball". All the songs were done at just the right speed and Veerle Casteleyn who plays Jemima accompanies Grizabella with a beautiful soprano voice on "Memory" and Grizabella sings with more feeling than is conveyed on the soundtracks. The performance was done on stage but not in front of an audience so there's not any applauding during the show. It does not contain "Growltiger's Last Stand" but includes for the first time, to my knowledge, "The Pekes and The Pollicles" (aka "The Great Rumpas Cat Song") which does not occur on the available soundtracks, but was in the stage production.

Summary: IT HAS TAKEN ME LONG ENOUGH TO DO A REVIEW...
Review: UNDER THE INSISTENCE OF THAT BRILLIANT ACTRESS ELAINE PAIGE I AM FINALLY WRITING A REVIEW. SHE IS SO THRILLED AT ALL THE POSITIVE NOTES EVERYONE HAS SAID HERE. IT IS A TREAT TO SEE HER RECREATE HER ROLE AS "GRIZ" BUT I GUESS I AM LUCKY MEMORY WAS THE ONLY LULLABY I WANTED TO HERE AS A KID. I WATCH THE VIDEO WHENEVER I MISS HER. IT HAS BECOME A PRT OF MY SOUL. MOST PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY WONDERING WHY JOHN PARTRIDGE "RTT" SAID F... YOU TO HER... WELL I SAY IT WAS UNCALLED FOR FOR HIM TO BE SO RUDE BUT MUMS DID COME IN A BIT TOO EARLY OVER ALL I THINK THE POSITIVE ENFORCEMENT FROM EVERYONE IS SUPERB. EMAIL ME IF YOU WANT ANY INFO OR ETC OR HOMEPAGES ABOUT ELAINE PAIGE. I WILL RESPOND TO ALL.......JAMES

Summary: Excellent Purrrrformance!
Review: This video is a great replicate of the 1981 smash hit musical of Cats. I was a bit disappointed to see that Andrew Lloyd Webber cut out parts of his songs, and even cut out a huge song 'Growltigers last Stand'from the movie. He cut several versus from the duet 'Mungogerrie and Rumpleteazer.' I was quite pleased otherwise with an inspiring cast, great dancing, and beautiful singing. Theatre buff or not your bound to enjoy this musical that is world famous. Hats off to Lloyd Webber for starting his video collection of his musicals with a bang. Enjoy!
