Summary: Enkralling perfection!
Review: I purchased this DVD the day after I saw Diana Krall in concert. This is the way music should be enjoyed! The Dolby Digital 5.1 track is stunning, the clarity and depth are wonderful. The camera work is equally brilliant, always focusing on the musicians' talent.

Ms. Krall's performance is an impossible combination of polished perfection and down-to-earth personability - nightclub intimacy with the grandeur of a large scale concert.

This is a must-have, no questions needed.

Summary: Diana Krall-Live in Paris
Review: Two years ago, I was fortunate to see Diana Krall at the Ella Fitzgerald Music Festival in Newport News, Virginia. She was spellbinding. Her video of her concert in Paris is incredible. I felt as though Diana was performing live in my home. The camera focuses not only on her singing but also, on her fingers as they play the piano. This is truly a video you want to own. I have loved all of her CDs but especially her "The Look of Love"
from which most of the music of the concert comes. Her performances of "Maybe You'll Be There", "Under My Skin" and "I Get Along Without You Very Well" will make your skin tingle. Her sensual voice accompanied by her jazz band and the European Symphony made for an evening of perfection. This video transports you to Paris and a wonderful evening with Diana Krall.

Summary: WOW!
Review: Wow! Did she bring the house down!!!

Watching this exhilarating piece of jazz performance was an ecstatic experience. For the second half of the concert, especially when she gets to the song "I Don't Know Enough About you", Diana Krall clearly loses herself and melts completely into the music. The music flows like a river. There is no thinking, no skills, no space, no time, just pure joy of music. The whole band are right there with her.

Every once in a while, a performer will totally lose control of him/herself and achieve amazing feat. For example, Michael Jordan's winning shot in the final game against Utah (1998), Martha Argerich's Rachmaninoff piano concerto live recording in Berlin (1982), Sarah Hughes' golden performance in the Olympic figure skating final (2002) and Jodie Foster's ecstacy upon hearing the greetings from the outer space in Contact (1997). I love watching live music or sports performances because I feel that the performers communicate with me with more passion and less instrumentality.

By the way, the first song of this DVD is called "I Love Being Here With You", which may explain her exuberant performance of the night!

Summary: A Must Have
Review: Every sane person on this planet should own this DVD. If you like jazz, you'll love this. If you don't like jazz, you will.

This dvd is extremely clean, the picture and audio are perfect. Listening to Diana Krall's CD's is one thing, watching her perform is an entirely different and wonderful exprience.

Buy this DVD.

Summary: A Glossy Picture Postcard
Review: I had never seen Diana in concert before. Overall, she comes off as very cool and reserved. Everything is in place, it's note-perfect and quite beautiful -- Diana, the arrangements, the band, and orchestra. Very glossy. But there's not a lot of soul and feeling here. This is like a picture postcard of the Champs-Elysees at night. Diana has veered far from her jazz beginnings and become the cool, distant, unattainable chanteuse. She's not quite in Paul-Simon-solo territory yet, where Paul stands there playing and singing with nary a movement or expression, save the occasional shrug of his shoulders, followed by a side glance and grimace as if he just remembered that he left the water running in the tub back home, but she's getting there. She's obviously decided not to give anything of herself onstage, she is merely the conduit for the well-rehearsed music. Kind of like the anti-Shelby Lynne, who gives it ALL out there, heart and soul, baby. If you like to attend Kennedy Center command performances in formal dress, you'll love this. If you like performers who open up and invite you into their living room, catch Shelby in concert. It's your call.

Summary: Exceptional!!
Review: Diana Krall is one phenomenal lady! What an exquisite performance in Paris! Her voice and piano playing were great. A few glitches on the DVD, but I hardly noticed. If you're a Diana Krall fan, I highly recommend this DVD. I can't wait to see her live in L.A. next month. And I already have tickets!!

Summary: New DVD is an excellent effort
Review: I saw Diana Krall in Concert in early 2001 in Sarasota, FL. She gave a disappointing 70 minute performance and there were rumors of sour notes between her and event organizers. I bought the DVD because I love her CD's and she is obviously very talented. I wanted to give her live performance another chance. You will not be disappointed as this performance backed by orchestra and all the players surpasses her standard tour show in almost everyway possible. Plus, its one third the cost of taking your wife to the concert; not to mention dinner and drinks. Krall is an awesome musician but if there is a weekpoint it has to be her dialogue with the audience. Buy it !

Comments about the DVD tech: 1. the picture is beautiful. I need to get the name of the set designer as the colors are emotive. 2. Widescreen - I usually hate it; but it is only a little letter box and the closeups are closeup. 3. Camera work is good as it would get a little stagnant the same shot all the time. Tastefully Artsy.

Summary: Princess Diana reigns over all at L'Olympia, Paris
Review: Diana's music entered my life only a few short months ago. Since then I just can't get enough. Her "Live in Paris" DVD arrived a couple of days ago (just a soon as Amazon could get it to me) and I have been watching it nightly.

Diana's piano playing and singing, along with the incredible talent surrounding her on stage, makes this DVD an absolute must for all fans. The camera work is nicely done - no jumpy shots from here, there, and everwhere - filmed as smoothly as the music being played. If you don't want to watch the concert - drop in the disc and just listen to the music.

Can't wait to actually see her in concert myself (next month!!!)

Summary: 2 hours of paradise!
Review: I just recently saw Diana in concert and thought it was the best concert I've ever attended. That is, until I picked up her new DVD. Wow! Is it possible to be that beautiful and talented? I guess so, Diana gives a great performance and leaves you wanting more. Make sure to check out the bonus material that includes some pre-concert practice.

Summary: chic,classy and eclectic
Review: It was almost seven years ago when I first heard this unknown singer from Canada who sounded like Nina Simone and Astrud Gilberto and plays the piano like Fats Waller. This new DVD Live in Paris captures the qualities that made her rise to a jazz-pop diva that she is now. The sultry voice combined with stacatto and pastel piano style accentuates a commanding presence that seems to grab even the most eclectic "Parisian" audience. Chic and classy, the DVD is obviously well produced with the 5.1 DTS sound and state-of-the art digital production that gives the viewer an intimate front-row-center perspective. Her jazz spin of Bacharach's "The look of Love" and Gerhswin's "S'wonderful are unique not only in the vocal treatment but also in arrangement and jazz band orchestration. The audience would certainly miss songs from her earlier classics like " Boulevard of Broken Dreams", but the bonus videos more than compensates. Even the rehearsal footage is a show by itself. This one is a keeper.
