Rating: Summary: As Hard-core as it Gets Review: If you are the type of person that finds extreme personalities interesting, then this film is for you. If you've heard of G.G. Allin... everything you've heard is true, and most of it is in this film. However, if you can get past the initial cringe of what is presented here, what emerges is a funny and interesting film.
In particular the interviews with Allin and his brother, Merl, are fascinating. Especially noteworthy is how articulate the latter can be and the insight that he provides on his sociopathic brother. Moreover, the mayhem that was Allin's live show is largely preserved in this documentary. Thus, if you are only attracted to the anarchy that surrounded Allin, and are less interested in abnormal psychology, you will probably still consider this DVD worth your money. I do not reccomend this DVD to anyone who is EASILY OFFENDED or anyone who has a WEAK STOMACH.
Rating: Summary: If you have lived the life, you will love the view Review: If you have lived the life of GG Allin, or something even close, then you will love this films. it covers his life in absolute detail, from him breaking faces to beating fans. GG Allin is probably the only person on earth that ever took the phrase "Eat Sh%T and Die" Litterally. This Film covers some awesome shows and some even better footage of life behind the scenes. Live the Life. Rock the World, Live Fast Die Hard Guys
Rating: Summary: insane yet enjoyable. Review: just who was GG allin? GG allin is perhaps the most notorious figure in punk history. while ian mackaye was preaching straight edge and jello biafra was ranting about the police, GG was busy eating his own waste and beating up his fans. this documentary, as disturbing as it is oddly touching and funny, follows him and will show you sides of his life that you would've never seen and sides of his life you don't nessescarily want to see. the music itself wasn't all that substantial, mostly consisting of guitar work that sounded like it was recorded in a shed and lyrics that consisted of a few obscenities strung together in a semiincoherent manner. he had no home and barely any clothing, hated everyone and everything, and almost never ended a show without getting arrested or starting a riot. not only do we get a glimpse into GG's past but we can also see GG on the road doing what he was famous for. words cannot do justice for what happens here. the shows themselves are disturbing and all have a color routine that consists of GG's naked flesh (eventually becoming splattered with blood), the dark musty surrounding of whatever club they're in, and the all too recognizable splatter of whatever bodily fluid was being thrown on the audience that night. GG allin is and was a very unsettling person. he is perhaps most famous for the stunt he had planned for halloween in which he was to kill himself on stage and take as many people with him as he could. he wound up dying of a drug overdose after a show at the gas station that lasted but ten minutes, which was ample time for GG to wow the crowd with acts that took exhibitionisim and and stage excess to new heights. he truly lived by his own rules and, if he was still alive today, would probably be serving a prison sentence. this documentary is among the best ever made, busting through taboos and the unexplored to give us a raw look at what would've probably just remained an urban legend. RIP GG allin. your legacy has caused me to never look at anything the same way again.
Rating: Summary: Real Deal Review: Love him or hate him, GG was 100% real, so rare, so rare. The most honest voice you are likely to ever hear is GG's bestial wail, the horror, the horror. He is well captured on this documentary. I still live in the East Village, man, GG wouldn't recognize the yuppie scum that inhabit this place these days. He may have checked out just in time.
Rating: Summary: I don't really see what the big deal is. Review: Personally, I think this guy is a lightweight. I am much worse. Only poseurs like GG wait for the stage to do their most violent stuff. I do it all the time. Well, gotta go...
Rating: Summary: The Real Deal Review: Say what you will about G.G. Allin- he's the real thing. GG died of a heroin overdose- and that's the only thing that stopped him from offing himself onstage on a Halloween night. This tape is very explicit. It's raw. And despite what some critics have said, I find it much sadder than I do funny. This man would relieve himself on stage and then either eat his own feces or throw them at the audience. Everything he did was to provoke. But to what end? As an artist, GG just wasn't very good. He didn't have a "rock and roll" voice and his poetry was third rate. I believe that knowing that he would never get anywhere with his limited talent, he decided to make a name for himself by sheer outragousness. To that end, he succeeded- but paid for it with his life. This is a fascinating study of a dark world know to few.
Rating: Summary: Fun for the whole family! Review: The Hated DVD documentary about GG Allin & The Murder Junkies is a fun and powerful documentary about the positive and fun-loving character GG Allin - everyone's friend. GG came from an era in music where it was the front person's duty to spread love and understanding. And that's exactly what he did with a little help from his band. GG taught to me to be nice to other people. Understand. Respect. Etc. The music performed in Hated is also very beautiful. Sort of like a mix between Blink 182 and Status Quo. The title "Hated" shows you how brilliantly ironic Allin was - he was never hated by anyone. Neither did he hate anyone back. What a great play with words. I recommend this DVD to anyone who cares about music! PS if you like this, also check out: Wayne's World, School Of Rock and Chicago - The Videos.

Rating: Summary: GG Allin should have won the Nobel Prize. Review: The man,who had no real identity other than a "circus of death" personna, sacrificed his own life as a critique of modern society. Its too bad that his plans were foibled by heroin. RIGHT Now to get serious for a moment, this film is a highly entertaining documentary which could interest many viewers. Well shot and edited, fast paced and full of titillating vulgarity, its a winner.(not for kids or moral majority members)
