Summary: The Best!!!
Review: All of the recent Kleiber DVD releases are simply the best! If you enjoy listening and watching orchestral concerts and enjoy watching a conductor at work during performance - there are simply no better performances on DVD. Kleiber was one of the greats and you can see and hear why on these treasures. If you are at all thinking of purchasing any of the Kleiber DVD's don't hesitate - well worth it at twice the price. My highest possible recommendation! Why Universal Music did you wait so long to release these on DVD?

Summary: How could it not be good. :)
Review: All you have to do is see the name on the box and you know it's going to be amazing! I have to admit though, my youth orchestra from high school produced more polished performances than this one of the Bavarian State Orchestra. Lots of wrong entrances, intonation problems, ensemble problems... Kleiber even gives the timpanist a couple of dirty looks. He was known to be very trusting of the orchestras he conducted, though. He didn't sweat the small stuff. He always left those things to the orchestra. But no one can take away the experience and musicianship of these players... and it really shows. Kleiber brings the best out of these musicians. He shows them how great this music really is, and how lucky they are to be playing it. If you can't see that while watching him, then you must not be a musician.

Buy it, watch it... you won't be sorry!
