Summary: A Performance Masterpiece
Review: As an avid fan of Les Miserables, I have seen the stage production 6 times...and undeniably, the The Tenth Anniversary Concert performance has been the best yet. It is a dream cast. Colm Wilkenson emotes the passion of a man who fights an emotional struggle to do what is right. Philip Quast is the best Javier by far, and Michael Ball...well enough said. Lea Salonga and Ruthie Henshall each have a voice that is pure and captures your undivided attention. This performance of Les Miserables is a must see and must own for the fan of musical theater.

Summary: Unbelievably Beautiful
Review: I have never seen the stage play of Les Miserables, only the concert hall video. It was a magical few hours watching all the original stars ; my wife and I became instant Les Miz fans and now have tickets to see the road show version in Washington, DC.

Summary: Emotion, story, and pure music, makes this the best!
Review: I typically don't care for musicals, operas, etc. but a friend of mine brought it to me after I had had both hands operated on and virtually could do not much of anything. I watched this amazing performance over and over again. I still watch it about every 2 weeks. There is an inside beauty to this that reaches far into the soul and stays within the heart!

Summary: A Must-Have Musical!
Review: As a new but devoted Les Mis fan, I was delighted with this tape. Colm Wilkinson is the definitive Valjean, and Philip Quast is a cool, calculated Javert with just the right amount of ferocity showing through. Though in concert, the video does a fairly good job of narrating the story with both clips from the show and subtitles. However, if you are unfamiliar with the story, you won't be able to follow it just from this tape. Lea Salonga isn't my favorite Eponine, but she puts in a strong performance, and I didn't care especially for Ruthie Henshall as Fantine; her voice seemed to strain at key places in "I Dreamed a Dream".

Die-hard fans may be a little disappointed at the cutting of some numbers; for example "Lovely Ladies" was cut down to just one chorus, and the wedding scene is almost non-existent. But these faults are very minor when the tape is considered as a whole; it is a stunning production that captures much of the emotion and feel of the live show, and is a definite must-have for fan of Les Mis or musicals.

Summary: WOW!
Review: I've seen this video more times than I can count, AND I bought the soundtrack! I NEVER get tired of the music! I saw Les Miz in Toronto in October, and once in Kitchener. I LOVE Philip Quast! He IS Javert! Colm Wilkinson is THE ONLY Valjean, and Micheal Ball rules! If you love Les Miserables, BUY THIS VIDEO!

Summary: I LOVE IT!!!
Review: I saw Les Mis in Toronto last December, and it was incredible!!!!!! The concert tape is amazing as well, although it can't beat the live musical. The dream cast was near perfectly selected, especially Philip Quast and Colm Wilkinson. I would have picked Jessica-Snow Wilson rather than Lea Salonga though. If you haven't seen it, watch it!

Summary: Pretty good
Review: The DVD is pretty good. However, having only seen the musical once in London, I was disappointed by the lack of the rotating stage and the general lack of acting in this DVD (compared to the presentation I saw in London).

I also have the 3 CD Complete Symphonic Recording, and I just don't think the Valjean on the DVD is anywhere near as good as the one on that CD set.

However, the music was great and generally the singers are great as well.
