Review: i first saw les mis. when i was living in london [i grew up there] in the palace theatre. it was spine tingling with the orchestra. i don't really think that judy kuhn has the best voice but she did really well, lea salgona and fantine along with jean valjean were fantastic i think that i started to cry when i heard i dreamed a dream because . if you read the book then you'll know what i'm talking. about that her husband ran away after one summer together , he and the three brothers run away from the three sisters including fantine then you hear how she looses her beauty for cosette.

Summary: Incredible production!
Review: I purchased the DVD version since my wife and I had worn out the tape. Why only four stars? It has nothing to do with the cast or material. I was slightly disappointed at the quality of the picture and soundtrack. It is better than the VHS format, but if you do purchase the DVD be aware it is not up to what you are used to in quality. After having said this I still believe this is one of the best productions ever made. Enjoy.

Summary: This musical was DEPRESSING!
Review: I loved this version of Les Miz. I've seen many versions, but this one truly is my favourite. I could watch it every day. However, this is the most depressing musical I've ever seen! I don't usually cry at movies, but this one literally left me sobbing! Especially when Eponine first came on the stage. Her rendition of "On My Own" was so amazing I cannot even describe it! Lea Salonga has a beautiful voice I would die a thousand times for, and the Eponine she portrayed was perfect. Her bitter voice was wonderfull. "On My Own" is my favourite song of all time, and the words could have easily been my own. I really identify with Eponine, and I couldn't believe my eyes when she died at the end! I also can't believe how Cosette stole Eponine's love, that jealous brat doesn't deserve him! Cosette should have died instead of Eponine! Eponine is my fave character, and Les Miz is my fave musical. Eponine is also my role model and one of the bravest girls I've ever seen. Anyways, this version of Les Miz was great, if you haven't seen it allready, do so now if you don't, you'll regret it for the rest of your life!

Summary: Excellent Production and certainly a dream cast
Review: Having been a fan of Les Miz since its inception I have seen a number of productions around the world. I was indeed fortunate to be in London when this concert was put on. I went along, with a little bit of apprehension, wodering how they could produce a three hour show as a concert. It makes one realize that music like this does not need scenery it stands alone on its merits. The cast were suberb and it would indeed be a dream show if Cameron MacIntosh could get them all together for a run on the West End. The video is a much treasured memento of a wonderul wonderful evening. And Yes I have booked myself back to London for the twentieth annivesary celebrations

Summary: Les Miserables will touch the whole gamut of your emotions.
Review: This performance will move you to tears, to laughter, to joy and sorrow and back again. Once you start this video you will stay glued to you seat. And to top it all off you'll get to see seventeen Valjeans from all over the world sing in his own language. Very impressive.

Summary: A Must-Own Video for All Les Mis Fans!
Review: Being a great fan of the novel, Les Miserables, and having listened to the musical recording (by the Original London Cast - the best!) on CD like a zillion times but yet to have the chance to see the live musical, I was truly pleased to know that there's a video available on the musical (although it's in 'concert' form, with no sets). What's more - it features all the best performers!

Everything about the concert is perfect. The performers are all brilliant! You'll just love Hannah Chick (young Cossette) when she sings "Castle on the Cloud" without missing a note (although she was startled by a loud bursting sound halfway through her singing). Ruthie Henshall was excellent! She gave a very sad, but convincing portrayal of Fantine. Her voice is outstanding! Colm Wilkinson I don't have to comment - he was his usual BEST. Michael Ball was a darling!! He sang beautifully, and appeared a little bashful on stage, I just love the way he carried himself on stage! Michael Maguire's great, and undoubtedly the best looking male performer on the stage. I don't quite take to Lea Salonga's portrayal of Eponine. She seemed somewhat detached and had on an almost monotonous expression on her face throughout her singing. She's very beautiful but her singing sounded flat. A number of reviews posted here don't quite like Alun Armstrong's singing. But I think that man's amazing! He sang very well, and sure, he appeared very goony.. but Thenadier was supposed to provide some comic relief to the otherwise very serious musical.

This is definitely a must-own video for all fans of the musical! Don't miss it!

Summary: This video is awsome
Review: I can't afford the prices they charge to go to the live performances, so when I can buy a tape like this one, it really brightens me up. I have watched this show over and over and when my 9 year old granddaughter borrowed it she too watched it so much, that for Christmas, I asked her Aunt to buy it for her, so I could get my video back. I've also boughten Cats, now wishing I could get the best video of Phantom of the Opera.

Summary: A Wonderful Epic Concert!
Review: Oh wow...what can I say? This was a wonderful movie/musical! I didn't like Les Miserables at all before I saw this, but now I'm in love with the musical. Colm Wilkonsin was...well I don't like his singing style sometimes but overall he is the best Valjean. Michael Ball is great!! I can't say enough about this man! He is a wonderous singer, actor, and a very handsome man as well. His performance was awsome and I'd love to see him perform it over and over agin. Lea Solonga (did I spell that correctly) is wonderful as well. Phillip Quast....what can I say about this god? He is one of my favorite singers and so I was excited to see him as a villain. He is great! He brings a charm and elegance to his character and just brings him to life. Overall, this is a great musical and I'd recomend it to anyone!

Summary: THIS VIDEO ROCKS!!!
Review: This is an incredible video which I watch constantly. I don't mind there not being sets and a couple short parts were cut. The voices were excellent! Colm Wilkinson is clearly the best Valjean his voice is amazing! Philip Quast was good as Javert but he made me want to smash his face in with the way he treated people. Judy Kuhn is all right, I guess. Not my favorite Cosette. Several people were disappointed with Michael Maguire, I liked him. But I must agree, he did really foul up some notes. Michael Ball as Marius I just adored! He has such an excellent voice. Same with Ruthie Henshall as Fantine. She's angelic! And everyone can say whatever they want about Lea Salonga but she was without any doubt my favorite performer! I loved her interpretation of Eponine. I mean, the girl lives with unrequited love, a nutcase father, and gets shot to death. How happy is she supposed to sound? Lea captured her fine. Her voice sends chills down my back. She's great and I love her "On My Own". Jenny Galloway was okay, and Alun Armstrong was the only person I didn't like. His voice was very nasally and annoying. All in all, this video was outstanding!
