Summary: Great Show, bad video
Review: It's a shame. Pippin is a great show, but any audio/visual representation of it is below par. The CD has major flaws, and this video has even more. Teh problem does not lie with the cast, which is great, or Fosse's direction/choreography, which is superb. Teh video itself leads much to be desired. In the song "Glory," it is impossible to figure out what is goin one. Many of hte osngs were either trimmed or cut comptetly, and the quality of tahe filming itself was adequate at best. This movie is worth seeing if you've never seen the show and are interested to see what it was all about, or for Fosse's work. And, as I said before, the music, book, etc. is great. Otherwise, this movie is a dud.

Review: This is a fantastic peice of work. Pippin is a beautiful story. This version is wonderful! William Katt, Ben Vereen, and everyone, they're wonderful! I can't say it enough. I love this version of it. If by some chance William Katt or Ben Vereen should ever read this, you are wonderful and I love your work! And stupid as it sounds, you are beautiful William Katt and I love you and best wishes for the future!

Summary: A View Into Our Own Society
Review: This musical is a great look into how we act in our own society. We are almost all looking for our own "corner of our sky." We search through many aspect of our culure, and find that none of that accomplishes all of our goals and aspirations. The finale is what the players want, but the ending is a unique twist that should help all of us realize what is really important in life.

Summary: I Love Pippin
Review: This video astounded me to no end. I bought the soundtrack to the broadway production and thought the music was nice, but was mistaken as to what was goiong on onstage as they were sung, especially the song " With You " Suprise, suprise! Not what I thought that song was about at all. But anyway. I think Ben Vereen's performance is dynamic to no end, by far the most amazing video that ever graced my home VCR!

Review: As a two-time cast member in productions of this show, I have a lot to say about all things Pippin. First of all, Bob Fosse's work in this version of the musical is FANTASTIC. This was Bob's original vision of the show, not how it was adapted and is now licensed to performing groups. Having played Catherine and Fastrada and assisted as a dance captain in amateur productions of the show, I have seen many directors interpret the show many different ways. However, I enjoy the show most the way Bob intended it. Fosse is one of the greatest contributors to the theatre in American history, and his fabulous work in this production of his dark and unsettling musical is something to think about for the ages.

Review: Have the DVD of Pippin and the music is incredible. It will touch you and the songs will remain in your head for a long, long time. You can't help it! After hearing the music, I had to see this show and you should also at Village Theatre in Issaquah, Wa. Call 425-392-2202 for tickets to this spectacular performance. A wonderful evening!

Summary: Great Way to Introduce Young People to "Pippin"
Review: I'm 14 and obviously was not alive when the Broadway production of "Pippin" came out. So, while this is shoddy work compared to the Broadway show I am told, to me, this makes the musical new again. I'm a huge Bob Fosse fan and even though these dances were more or less recreated, since this was filmed years after it opened, they are stunning and show us that Bob Fosse knew exactly what he was doing. This is one of the few good shows to come out of the rock opera genre and you should take advantage of its availability on video

Review: This videotape of the landmark Stephen Schwartz musical is a must-have for every musical theatre enthusiast. Ben Vereen re-creates his stunning Broadway performance, surrounded by an outstanding all-star cast. But this review is about the video, not the performances. The video was mercilessly whacked apart by David Sheenan, on some kind of a power trip,in many cases undermining the total effect of the program. Definitely buy it, still remember it's not the total product.
