Summary: The magic spell is retained, habits and all...
Review: This video makes the reason Nunsense was a long-running Off-Broadway hit abundantly clear. The show is very funny and has great music--what more do you need? A good production? This video has it--the set looks great and the music sounds perfect, and there is an almost perfect cast performing the show. Rue McClanahan, from The Golden Girls, isn't much of a singer, but is a richly gifted comic actress, which does her role as Mother Mary Regina very well. Christine Anderson and Semina De Laurentis, recreating their original roles, shine beautifully. Terri White brings a forceful and powerful voice to her role, and Christine Toy's charming voice and very strong dance skills allow her to round out the cast nicely. If you're a fan of musical theatre, you must own this recording of Nunsense. If you're not, try it anyway--you'll soon see why the nuns sing that "Nunsense is habit forming!"

Summary: Perhaps it's me?
Review: Well, I read the description and the fantastic reviews, I'm a big fan of Rue McClanahan and so I bought the DVD. Oh dear!

On the positive side, Rue McClanahan has two hysterically funny scenes and the cast as a whole works very hard. But.........

Perhaps it's me, but I just didn't find it that funny (except for the two scenes mentioned above), I thought the sound was dreadful, particularly the echo on one nun's mike during the last 20 minutes or so, the camera work was unexceptional and how old was that audience! Perhaps that it. Maybe the show appeals to a more mature audience. Or something.

Summary: Nunsense, Don't Miss this one
Review: What more can you say about Nuns who have to raise cash to support thier convent after a catastrophe. This DVD was as entertaining as being there live. It kept me laughing through the whole show. Don't miss!!
