Summary: "Cats"
Review: "Cats" is pure entertainment. One shouldn't look for flaws, unless they look in their own mirror.. The DVD is super clear, and brings out all the 'meows'...(or 'purr's)... "Cats" is a delight to be enjoyed by the whole family.

Take your pick, Andrew Lloyd Webber or Puff Daddy... The choice is simple.

Summary: Entertaining but missing Growltiger
Review: I have watch this at least 10 time over the past few months, both on TV and computer screen. The voice recording is very clear. A little bit unrealistic because it is recorded separately from the actual dance video recording, lacking in tonal differences when the singer is dancing and moving about. Long angle (zoom) shots were dark, resulting in grainy video at a few places but most are colorful and visually pleasing. My major disappointment is on the missing "Growltiger's Last Stand" and "Ballade of Billy McClaw" pieces.

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: I have seen this video several times and continue to enjoy it and find new things in it each time. The music is great, and dancing is out of this world - the way the dancers can move their bodies is awesome. It's a happy, upbeat way to spend a couple of hours. One thing that enhanced my enjoyment is getting a companion book that contains the lyrics so that I could follow along more easily, and going into one of the private websites about Cats that explains the plot (as it is - plot is not a major part of this show) and provides explanations of the various characters. This video is one I know that I will continue to enjoy time after time.

Summary: no wonder it's the BEST musical
Review: i first knew CATS through the original London cast OST (i won't recommend this OST, though. buy it for the song MEMORY). then i bought the VCD and watched it, and i thought, wow, no wonder it's been the BEST-loved musical. CATS deserves the name.

i don't mind if it's dubbed or not. i know part of the video is but the show was simply too brilliant for me to think about it. the camera work was very good. the costume and make-up has improved a lot since its original version (surely^^) and i must agree that Michael Gruber is the best Munkustrap. John Partridge finally found his place as RTT (he played Munku before, but i thought...well cannot really imagine it^^). and i looove Jacob Brent's Misto, he's among the best performers for that character. Jacob's dancing was beautiful, smooth and really effortless, and it was the first time that i knew ballet could be performed in such a *sweet* way.

but above all i must say that this show is truthfully enjoyable. the performers were greatly enjoying themselves, as you will see it. they were not merely performing for the audience but performing for themselves as well. that makes CATS all in all lovable...if they were all dull-faced their excellent dances would be definitely ruined, but they all seemed so jubilant^^

CATS is definitely the best musical around.

Summary: Bonus video is great
Review: Not only do you get the very good Cats video in this set, you get a 30 minute bonus video stuffed with lots of cool stuff. From original London Cats footage to backstage footage (watch for the dressing room scene where Jo Gibb (Rumplteazer) flashes her bra at the camera. It is too funny) I recomend getting this set. The bonus video really makes it worth every penny

Summary: Not as good as live, but still great
Review: This video is great. It's a wonderful (if abriged) version of the staged show. The cast is great, the music is great, and most of the camera work is really good. I am a bit disappointed that Growltiger's Last Stand as well as a few other parts here and there were cut to make the video 2 hours, but since they put The Awful Battle of the Peke's and The Pollicles in it, I'm not going to complain. If you love Cats then get this video. If you've never seen Cats but would like too, then get this video (then try to see it live of course) All and all I'm very happy with this video >gives it two thumbs up<

Summary: WOW!!!!!
Review: I love this video! Cats is astounding, an instant success. Had I been around when it was still on broadway, or at least been able to get tickets, i would have. The cats, from Jemima to Munkustrap to the Rum Tum Tugger are absolutely enchanting! I'd love to meet them. This movie caused a friend of mine to suggest being cats for halloween. I asked her, why wait? We are now having a costume party, mainly because of this movie. The music, the songs, the costumes, the attitudes, the dances...everything adds to this magnificent work of art.

Summary: CATS THE LEGACY
Review: I think this was by far one of the best musicals by Andrew Lloyd Weber I have seen (and heard) ever. I am a huge Weber fan and this film says it all. With beautiful entrancing music by Elaine Paige or the silly and happy songs of Jo Gibb and Drew Varley. This is truly something you have to buy! Veerle Casteleyen was spectacular in the role of Jemima and she had big shoes to fill as the last Jemima was played by superstar Sarah Brightman. The dancing is amazing and will make you wonder how in gods name they are so coordinated they must be experts and they are! The music will have you humming for months. You may read things like the dancing was distasteful but it wasn't unless u mind a little hip swinging. Or you might hear that there was no plot. THERE WAS YOU JUST HAVE TO THINK ABOUT IT!!! The plot was that you get to learn about some cats. It tells you of the Jellicle Ball and the different cats that are nominees to go the Heavyside Lair. Then Macavity steals Old Deutronomey and Mr. Mistoffolees makes him appear again. This is a must have for anybody of all ages. And I mean it. Plus unlike the Broadway or West End, you don't have to live in the past (cats ended), New York, or wait for it to come to town again! You can watch it whenever you want! So I say buy it. And don't listen to the severe critics. They don't have fun with the movies. This movie was meant for fun and fun you shall have!
