Summary: Excellent for Beginners, good quality instruction.
Review: A good instruction video on Salsa Dancing and Merengue. Professionally done. 50 minutes. Professional presentation, not too difficult to follow. Shows dancing slowly, and at tempo with music. You can dance these dances with just the basic steps demonstrated and look pretty good. A good dance for older and younger dancers alike. Quality of tape cassette not great, and quality of video a little grainy, probably due to copy protect. But for the price, very, very good.

Review: An instructional DVD that does not live up to it's hype. The amount of teaching done is very limited -- and basic -- if you wanted to learn to dance like them latino's do this is defineatly not the DVD for you.
I bought this DVD just out of curosity to find how they teach salsa in the states (i am an international style latin competitor from Asia).
So may be it is for you if you just want to say that you know salsa -- but if you wanna look good on the floor -- go for something from Josie or Angelo + Malaika.

Summary: Clear but Cheezy
Review: As a beginner, I found this tape extremely helpful. Viewing Cal from the rear as he does the steps, seeing the "footprint" demonstrations, and then watching Cal dance with his partner ( first in half-time, then with the music), makes for a very clear and understandable presentation. I also ended up liking this man's personality as a teacher, even though I must say that I think his taste in clothing, sets, music, and dancers is so cheezy as to be laughable. This tape is a testament to the principle that there is no accounting for taste. Actually, the set is so laughable, and the supporting dancers are so tacky, that one is immmediately put at ease. You just know that you have to look better on the dance floor than these people. This gives a boost to one's self-confidence and banishes any lingering anxieties. Maybe Pozo is such a good teacher that he went for this effect intentionally. Maybe not. If you belong to the Elks Lodge and dance there, please forgive my unkind comments about Cal's taste. This tape will be perfect for you!

Review: As far as DVDs go, this one is rather simplistic and not very well made. The instructions are very clear and easy to learn but it is for the absolute beginner. No fancy stuff here.
Overall, a good intro to Salsa dancing.

The style hispanic people dance in clubs is more like the Chayenne style. Moreover there are differing styles of Salsa.
Puerto Rican, Cuban, Colombian, New York, L.A., and so on.
After this beginning program you may want to take a lesson of the style poplular in your area. It will probably be the style people will dance in clubs.

Review: Even if free, this is not worth the time to enter the order, Unless you want to learn the Macarena (does anyone do that anymore?) It shows just the basic steps, and that is it.
