Summary: Great content, poor production
Review: Michael Flatley works great on his show. He moves you to another world with his dancing. But this DVD lacks quality. It could just be better than it is. For moments the sound (wich should be perfect) gets unclean and so ocurrs with the image. So you will enjoy this DVD once you become familiar with the idea that it is less than perfect on some aspects. If you're a demanding user of DVD you will be somehow disapointed.

Summary: Absolutely Fabulous (Despite the Video Quality)!
Review: I hear all the complaints about the quality of the VHS production. But frankly - so what?? The choreography is amazing and Flatley is absolutely, hands-down SUPER. I don't find myself enjoying the video anything less because of lousy video quality - the show itself more than makes up for it all. Would you rather watch a nicely produced video or DVD with an absolutely talentless artist in it? Or would you rather watch a substandard production but with a group of artists that will simply take your breath away? (Of course it'd be wonderful if one can get the best of worlds, but life isn't usually perfect.) Lord of the Dance is a wonderful show - and if you, like me, don't have the luck to see Mr. Flatley live in the show, at least watch the video. You'll love it all the same.

Summary: outstanding
Review: Michael and company out did themselves on this one. I really like seeing the whole performance without station breaks as it was on public television. I liked the addional scenes and songs that were sung .... this [the slow motion shots]enhanced the experience and improves production,it was no hindorance at all I full recomend this DVD much better than the VHS version as it is so mucb cleaner and crisper and the soundtrack is outstanding 5 stars just doesn't cut it,10 works for me

Summary: Lord of the Dance
Review: Got the title last weekend and couldn't wait to watch it. But it turned out to be somewhat of a disappointment. The lighting was very poor, and so was the camera movement. I have to deduct 2 stars. In addition, they used Dolby Digital 2.0 instead of 5.1 coding. It seems to me that they were in a hurry to make a few bucks. Just my personal opinion, no point deduction. If you like this dance, you might still want to buy it since this is the only DVD around. But I surely hope that a better version can be produced soon. Just my 2 cents.

Summary: Lord of the Dance Live Show
Review: My husband and I just saw "Lord of the Dance" on stage and it was wonderful! For me, it was better than watching on t.v. We were in the 5th row from the front and really got to interact with the performers.

Summary: FANTASTIC Show, Awesome sound,Music, Backgrounds
Review: Lord of the Dance is the most awesome video we own. We watch it at least once a week, it gives us "goosebumps" when it starts because we know what is to come!! Yes, the photography is poor, but the entire show, with stereo/surround sound equipment (which is a must) has THRILLED us week after week. The only video which is better is FEET of FLAMES, (filmed at Hyde Park with over 20,000 fans in attendance) but this video has better sound and the show moves right along from the first act to the last encore. The only thing we enjoy more than this video is seeing the show live from the front row in Las Vegas. Anyone who misses buying this video WHILE IT IS AVAILABLE will be VERY SORRY when they realize what they have missed.

Summary: Good show, but lacking video quality
Review: This show is a pretty fun thing to watch, even if you have never really been interested in dance (just like me). The sound is decent, it could have used better mixing, but it was recorded live and that makes for difficult recording sometimes. The video quality is absolutely terrible though, it displays Video CD, or VHS quality AT BEST. In addition to that, there is a "fuzzy" effect to it. Many other reviewers commented that there appears to be 2 different versions. There is, or was, a Polygram version. I have no clue if the Polygram version of this DVD is of better quality (or if Polygram is even part of the same company), but I do know that the Universal Studio guys should have expended more resources to AT LEAST get this DVD up to par with the version that PBS has shown.

My advice for you would be to rent this one first. The show might be good enough for you to bypass all the picture quality flaws. And if you notice there are no problems at all...congrats, maybe the Polygram version is the answer after all.

Summary: Good show, lousy video
Review: The dancing is good, and the music, as much as one can hear it over noise from the audience is good. However, the video production I found to be lacking. Sound is, as I have indicated, poorly balanced. When bright lights are on the dancers, the contrast goes out the window.

I'd buy Riverdance. Just as good a show, superior video.

Summary: FANTASTIC!
Review: I think Lord of the Dance is fantastic! I love this video, all the more amazing considering I've never (until now) been a big fan of dancing. And some of the music in this video is the most joyous and beautiful music I've heard. I'm very glad I bought it. No regrets at all.

Summary: Buy this video now!
Review: The Lord of the Dance is one of those rare events that occurs only once in a millennium. Everything about Lord of the Dance works: the classic story of good vs. evil retold through modern interpretation, the music, the costume design, the dancing, and Michael Flatley, my God, Michael Flatley. I was fortunate enough to see Lord of the Dance live at Arco Arena, and NEVER in my life have I been a part of anything nearly as wonderful or special as that show. From the opening set piece, Michael Flatley had 17,000 people on their feet, screaming at the top of their lungs, and no one sat down or shut up until the last bow was taken and the house lights came up. Lord of the Dance is a magical experience that will sweep you away: do not miss out. You can no longer see it live, but this video captures the magic perfectly.
