Summary: A perfect blend of rhythm, visuals and humor
Review: I had heard about them and about how good they were. It wasn't until I saw this movie on HBO that I truly understood why they are such a phenomenon. The transitions alone are amazing. They make music with everything from playing cards, basketballs, pushbrooms, etc. They are the London Philharmonic of the inner city.

Summary: Very talented people doing great rhythm.
Review: I had seen these people on shows like Mad About You. That was just a small spot. I saw their show on Arts & Entertainment chanel and was completely mesmerized and totally drawn to the T.V. These fine artists keep a beat with anything but the conventional percussion instruments.Just shows you all the different kinds of sounds an artist can get out of just ordinary objects. Love 'em. Going to see them on May 02. 1999 at Cumberland Auditorium here in Fayetteville, N.C. Can hardly wait!

Summary: Stomp is FANTASTIC
Review: I have seen this movie many times and usually just try to rent it. After fewer and fewer rental places kept this one around I finally broke down and bought it. It's that good. You will be tapping your feet and banging on everything in sight. If you havn't seen Stomp live I recommend seeing one of their performances in addition to this movie. While the movie is good and does things that the performers cannot accomplish on the stage it is not as impressive as seeing Stomp live. If you know nothing about Stomp let me give you a little overview. They are a group that turns the everyday noises of life into music. They make amazing precussion and physical performances from things like push brooms and lighters. My favorite one on this tape is a scene where they are making rhythms with basketballs and anyone who has ever played with a basketball will understand the difficulty of what they do. Their every movement is exact and perfectly executed. I highly recommend this video to everyone of every age and those who have or haven't seen Stomp live. It's a great video and has some interesting interviews with the performers in addition to the amazing performances.

Summary: It was amasing!
Review: I Loved it. I havn't seen the consert yet but I want to. You should see the tape. The only thing is, I wish it was longer than 50 min.

Summary: Doesn't effectively capture the energy of the live show
Review: I loved watching Stomp live, so when I found out the DVD version was available, I got it right away. Stomp, the concept, is amazing: using everyday objects and movements to create rhythm and beat. Anyone lucky enough to catch a live version of Stomp knows what I'm talking about. The show truly is pure energy, and it's awesome.

The DVD has only a few bits of the live performance. For the most part, it consists of several filmed segments of people Stomp-ing. The segments look like music videos. In other words, they look edited and polished. I think this "polished" appearance makes these filmed segments less raw and energetic than the live segments.

Because I really like the Stomp concept, I think it is worth watching, in any form. If you haven't seen it live and this is the only way to watch it, I think you'll be impressed with how even the most mundane objects can be used to create rhythm and beat. If you have seen it live, though, then I think the DVD pales by comparison. So, three stars for the concept, but not the execution, of the pure energy that is Stomp.

Summary: Great show! Awesome skills!
Review: I only gave it four stars because of the presentation of the scenes. It was a little too scattered for my personal tastes. Progressing through the streets of New York, to the kitchens, elevators, on and off the stage, the show is interesting and the things that these people do with percussion is just amazing. Dropped my jaw from the get-go, and it nearly came off my head.

Some of the scenes were unnecessary, I thought, and some weren't given the air-time I would have liked. Myself, I could have watched their entire stage-show and been entranced for as long as they went on.

But it was a great buy, and I heartily recommend this to any and everyone who plays, has played instruments (real or air-based). Warning: This may leave you listening to random noises and trying to match the beat. It's pretty amazing.

Summary: Amazing percussion and choreography
Review: I saw Stomp Live a little over a year ago and would like to have seen them again. The show was absolutely wonderful. This tape shows some familiar skits as well as some new ones. I was particularly impressed with the way the skits linked together. My only gripe is that I wish the tape was longer than 50 minutes. END

Review: I thought this was a very and up beat dance and loved the music

what I would like to know is where can I find the music to this... I would love to have this on CD the music that is

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent entertainment and a great teaching tool!
Review: I used this video with my 4th and 5th grade students to illustrate how far rhythm can take you as well as how there are no boundries in music. 417 students give it a huge round of applause!
