Summary: First JETHRO TULL DVD Must Better Than This ....... !
Review: Yes,

You know, I'm a "Crazy Jethro Tull Fan" since 1970.
This first DVD of JT, it must be a "Wonderful" but some little important notes .....
1-) We are in 2002, many of the music DVD's sound coding is standart 5.1 DolbyDigital or dts coding. Why our first JT DVD's sound coding is still stereo ? ( Wery important, every people have a Home Theatre 5.1 sound system, ... not stereo ! )

2-) Tull concerts are very different sound quality. This Hammersmith concert live is good but not "Best" ( I think ! )

3-) This DVD's best thing is " The Class Of 68 Reunion" ( Unbeleiveable .... What a Feeling ? .... Amazing )

4-) Another most important thing is ; "Acoustic Session" ( yes, this is real JETHRO TULL sound ..! ) Wond'ring Aloud & Life Is A Long Song ( best performance of Acoustic JT music .. Great ! )

At the end, This is the first JETHRO TULL DVD ... I'm sitting on my "Bench" and watching this DVD with Pleasure ... ( Great !)

If you like Music, Jethro Tull is the best, for watching their unbeleivable stage performance and listen their amazing music;
Dont miss this JETHRO TULL's first DVD....

Summary: Living With the Past
Review: This is a very nice concert DVD. The music is both clean and powerful. The talent is unbelievible. The only problem is the talking between songs. Anderson says this is the way to a concert film (because you lose the concert feel), but I think after each song is a bit much. The end of the show gives me flow of a Tull concert. If you are a Tull fan, I am sure you'll love this DVD.

Summary: Wonderful Performance
Review: My husband and I saw Tull in April, 2002. The DVD is a flashback to that wonderful performance. It is not simply a concert but has bits and pieces of band member commentary interspersed throughout which is also quite enjoyable. As with their live performances you always get your moneys worth. This is certainly no exception. Pour yourself a nice Irish ale and enjoy this excellent group of performers who only get better with age.

Summary: The sound is pathetic.
Review: I was so excited to get this dvd in the mail yesterday as I am a devoted Tull fan. I collected all the albums, bought the gold cd versions, went to the concerts... I was really expecting this dvd to be a treasured part of my Tull collection. Talk about disappointment! The visual quality is there, the conversations with the band was enjoyable but, when it came time for the band to play the sound sounded like it was coming from a tiny am radio. I plan on keeping the dvd but, its likely going to sit on the shelf in my closet and draw dust. What were they thinking when they recorded this?!!!!!!!

Summary: Not Too Old To Rock and Roll
Review: Warning! This DVD is for hard core Jethro Tull fans! Those looking for footage of their 70's/80's periods should hunt down copies of "Slipstream," "20 Years" or the "25th Anniversary vhs tapes.
With that said, this DVD has alot to offer. Mostly great footage from their "Dot Com" tour from '99-'00. The chaps are in fine from. Martin Barre rules on guitar. Ian, as always, is brilliant. Some of the concert footage is intercut w/ studio footage especially shot for songs like "Jack in the Green" and "Roots to Branches." The '68 reunion stuff's good too, shot like a video complete w/ extras acting bored is funny. I guess they tried to recreate the audience vibe from back in the day. The highlights for me are the songs recorded at Ian's home w/ a string quartet esp. "Life's a Long Song" which is truly precious. There's also some kooky band humour which only adds to the ridiculous amount of charm that Jethro Tull already has. Overall, the the sequence is a like compilation, interviews are intercut w/ the concert footage breaking it up nicely and giving this DVD a nice flow/balance. One thing, however, I probably wouldn't be as excited about this DVD if I didn't have the 3 vhs' mentioned above which I watch incessantly. J-Tull.com said eventually they will release a career overview DVD but for now this stands as a great document of a period of THE most underrated band ever. Anybody remember "Summerday Sands?" I do!

Summary: Big Disappointment
Review: This is what longtime Jethro Tull fans waited nearly two years for? You'd think with technology being what it is today, they could have made this in a 5.1 or DTS sound format. Instead we get 2.0 from a band that would have sounded superb in 5.1.
As for the video production, when will musicians and their producers realize true fans want a concert without all of the silly effects? And do we really need interview segments after each song? Make the interviews another segment of the DVD features.
This is my all-time favorite group. Sadly, this DVD does not do Jethro Tull justice.

Summary: Outstanding, Innovative Performance
Review: P>This long-awaited DVD features wonderful performances with the nice artistic touch of mixing scenes from different concerts during the songs. Lots of interviews will all the band members too. Production quality is great except it's strange for a DVD not to have a letterbox format option and the sound doesn't have the quality of the companion CD (or so it seems to me on a very high end system). The shot of Benatar's guitars before Cross-eyed Mary (implying they're Martin's) will go down as a legendary Tull gaffe (a fun one, who really cares?).

Some parts of the DVD seem just thrown in, like the DVT outtakes, but that doesn't really bother me. Others, like the home acoustical performances, are simply wonderful.

Overall, this is FAR better than I ever expected and all Tull fand will be sure to love this product.

Summary: Not a concert - More like video clips & sound is horrible
Review: What a major disappointment for me. I've been waiting for a Tull concert DVD for years. It's here...I scoop it up...and what a drag.

The performances are fine. But each song is prefaced with dialog and discussion that only takes away from the concert. Plus diferent concert performances are interlaced within the same song. I guess I would enjoy the dialog, but keep it separate from the concert, for goodness sake!

Then there's the sound. I can get no sound to anything but the front left & right speakers. I have tons of music DVDs in Dolby Digital & DTS and they all send sound to all 5 speakers and the subwoofer, but not this bad boy. To me the sound is lifeless and weak. I'm going to try to exchange it just in case I got a bad DVD, but I don't think so. It plays fine, it just sounds dead and empty.

Sorry to be so negative. Tull is my favorite band. But this DVD is a stinker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I suggest not buying this until somebody convinces you that my experiences with the sound are all wrong...

Summary: Pure delightful genius.
Review: Anything Ian and the boys touch is worth 5 stars to me. But this is such an amazing treat it deserves far more. As a long-time Tull fan, this DVD is pure Heaven. Check it out - an instant classic.
