Summary: dark, cynical, "feel bad" cinema
Review: It's ironic that this film's tremendous success has been attributed to a craving for "feel-good" entertainment: in reality, this is a dark, grim, cynical downer of a movie. Chicago is devoid of a single likable character. The music is catchy, and the acting is solid throughout, but it's all in service of a story that didn't deserve to be sold.

Summary: Amazing
Review: This was an amazing movie. If you have read the reviews by "A 12 year old viewer" do not pay any attention to those reviews. This person has no idea of what a good movie/musical is and has no appreciation for these types of things. Chicago was simply wonderful and I suggest that everyone see it. The music was great and the dancing was great. The choreogrophy I think was by Bob Fosse and it was amazing. It is also amazing that all the actors do their own dancing. Richard Gere is an excellent tap dancer!
Billy Flynn: That's Chicago.

Summary: Chicago Will Razzle Dazzle You And All That Jazz!
Review: Bob Fosse's sexy cynicism still shines in Chicago, a faithful movie adaptation of the choreographer-director's 1975 Broadway musical. Of course the story, all about merry murderesses and tabloid fame, is set in the Roaring '20s, but Chicago reeks of '70s disenchantment--this isn't just Fosse's material, it's his attitude, too. That's probably why the movie's breathless observations on fleeting fame and fickle public taste already seem dated. However, Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones are beautifully matched as Jazz Age vixens, and Richard Gere gleefully sheds his customary cool to belt out a showstopper. (Yes, they all do their own singing and dancing.) Whatever qualms musical purists may have about director Rob Marshall's cut-cut-cut style, the film's sheer exuberance is intoxicating. Given the scarcity of big-screen musicals in the last 25 years, that's a cause for singing, dancing, cheering. And like Mr. Billy Flint says...That's Chicago! Even though I am a live theatre fan and have seen the show on stage, I thought the movie was amazing. Of course the vocals and choreography were fabulous, but what I especially liked was the lighting and special effects. Most stage plays don't make it on the big screen, but Chicago did it all! Kudos to everyone in the cast and crew!

Summary: hurrah for hollywood
Review: thank heavens for Chicago a film that has finally brought the Hollywood musical back into the public's imagination. After the fun but trashy Moulin Rouge,Chicago can proudly show that even in this cynical age a Hollywood studio can still produce a musical that can stand alonside such classics of the genre such as My Fair Lady and Caberet.
Stylish production, terrfic performances from actors singing in fine voice (even though Zeta-Jones manages to steal the show)makes Chicago the film of 2003.

Summary: The Best Musical Ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I loved the movie and the cd was just as good. I had thought that it was just going to be an average boring musical, but my friend insisted that i should go see it. I loved it and i cannot wait until it comes out on DVD/VHS.

Summary: A great movie...except for those without taste.
Review: Let me start off by saying that I am not a musical fan. I have never seen a musical in my life. When I went with my girlfriend to see this movie I never thought I would like it, but I did. I enjoyed it. It was very dramatic, the music and the acting was fantastic, and there was some great humor to the movie. Overall, Chicago was a wonderful movie and moviegoers are brainwashed with stupid no-plot movies. Chicago definatly deserved all those awards and the critics are right.

Summary: Big Hit!!!
Review: First, I'm not a real big fan of musicals. Second, I usually would pass on a drama. Nope, do NOT pass.

The acting was great, and although it's a musical, the plot was exceptional. This is a must see.

Summary: Best Movie EVER!
Review: I saw this movie...and I loved it. Renee Zelleweger did a great job as well as Catherine- Zeta Jones. The songs performed and dances are catchy. The outfits rock and the background and imagry are just awesome. I know for sure this is one dvd to own. It's no disappointment. There's like so many songs performed it's great. You never get bored and they are used with situations that have happened in the movie and show great deal of motion. Check it out. You won't be disappointed!

Summary: THAT'S ENTERTAINMENT!...
Review: I just saw this movie and I have to say that I absolutly just LOVED it!...Catherine Zeta-Jones has a GREAT voice, and Rene Zelweger was great as Roxie Hart, it was like she was made for that roll. I was impressed with Richard Gere's tap dancing. My favourite numbers are the opening and closing numbers, "Cell Block Tango" and a couple others that I can't remember the names of.There were times in the film where I caught myself tapping my foot along with the music. This was a GREAT way to escape for a short while the ugliness of reality, and just loose yourself in the story, songs and dances of "Chicago". At the end of the movie, I found myself applauding as if I had seen it live, and for the rest of the day, I couldn't get Catherine-Zeta Jones singing the main song out of my head. No wonder it won an Oscar for best picture. It's a GREAT movie! I loved the songs, choreography and the costumes. All I can say is, "WOW!"
