Summary: A MASTERPIECE OF MODERN CINEMA!
Review: The original GREASE was a hard act to follow; the music was spectacular, the dancing among the finest ever put on film, and stars Olivia Newton-John (in her movie debut), and Lorenzo Lamas were ideal as "summer lovers" Sandy and Danny. In hindsight, though, GREASE 2 proves to be the better film. From the spritely opening number by The Four Tops, through to the exciting, climatic luau at the end, this picture engages with taut, dramatic, tension, making it a veritable supernova of boundless energy that's almost orgasmic in its intensity. Much like Martin Scorsese's GOOD FELLAS, GREASE 2 is not so much a movie to be watched but one to be experienced.

Summary: I SAW GREASE FIRST, AND I STILL LOVE GREASE 2 MORE!!!
Review: So Grease 2 didn't have John Travolta's dancing and Olivia Newton-John's singing in it, who cares! It's still the better of the two by far. The original Grease bores me, I can't sit through the whole thing with fast forwarding through tons of scenes. The same is not true with Grease 2. I loved every minute of this movie, from the first moment I laid eyes on Johnny and the rest of the T-Birds (much cuter than the originals, even if they weren't as tough)and the Pink Ladies, (who seem more like what the girlfriends of the school gang should be, plus they actually look like teenagers) Plus the music of Grease 2 is much more catchy than the original. I watch the original movie, but at the end find myself singing "Cool Rider" or humming "Score Tonight" Yes, at times the dialogue was bad in Grease 2, but the dialogue was bad at times in the original too. In my personal opinion people who say that this movie [isn't good] compared to the original must be very closed minded, it's not supposed to be a continuation of the original, it's supposed to be a brand new story, and the actors carry it well, especially Adrian Zmed, who made me laugh as Johnny, who wasn't as tough as Danny, but the girls loved him just as much, and Michelle Pfeiffer who plays a great character in Stephanie. All you people who don't sing need to shut up about her voice and the songs she sang. Once you've sang in a movie musical of stage musical then you can be down on her, even though your probably not any better. And so, if you love music, and having a good time, then Grease 2 is the movie I recommend you see.

Summary: Not Guilty
Review: People seem to be so harsh when it comes to this movie. And the ones who admit to liking it will only say that it is a "guilty pleasure." I don't completely understand this. I saw this movie when it first came out (12 years old), being a big Grease fan. I guess I didn't go in with any expectations, other than it be the same kind of silly, fun fluff that the original was. I wasn't disappointed. The story and some of the acting here is goofy, as well as a couple of the songs, but I didn't think most people were expecting Shakespeare here. It's just a good time and if it's looked at that way (as well as not comparing it to the first movie), it is a decent way to spend a couple of hours. And I feel in no way guilty about admitting this.

Summary: makes you laugh out loud
Review: this movie is really really bad, but parts are so funny and absurd that you will laugh like crazy! Reproduction???? Score Tonight??? All laughable songs that were never written to change the world, just to make us all shake our head and wonder WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?? The opening sequence "back to school" and "cool rider" were pretty good and original, but "charades", "do it for our country" and "Prowlin" UGH - just painful to sit through!! The characters were funny in their roles - Danny and Kenickie were both very cool, but Johnny was a wimp and Goose was a ... and none of the TBirds were cool at all! I thought the Pink Ladies were ok - and I didn't think Michelle Pfeiffer was all that bad. The TBirds were what ruined it. Paulette's sister Doris was not necessary. Frenchy served little purpose. Mr. Spears was a funny character, and Ms. Magee, Blanche and Coach Calhoun were good carry-overs from the original. The first was MUCH better, but this one has a FEW highlights. I couldn't accept the new TBirds, and Maxwell Caulfield didn't seem right for the part. Bottom line - watch it when you need a good laugh

Summary: I LOVE this film!
Review: I got so excited when i saw this advertised. I love this film for several reasons. It's a wonderful continuation of "Grease" but with great new original music and creative characters. Coming from the stage i love productions numbers,,,,the gaudier the better and "The Girl For All Seasons" number is my favorite. I can watch that over and over. It's just fun and fresh and i have felt that it's to bad life can't really be one big musical or at least aspects of our lives. And this movie does just that.Treat yourself to this fun musical. It's pure entertainment. I just wish it was on DVD,,,,,but maybe that will be next.

Summary: Guilty Pleasure
Review: How many of us will actually admit that we enjoyed this movie? Hence, that is why it is a guilty pleasure of mine.
Of course, 20 years ago, when I first saw it, I wouldn't have agreed with my previous statement here.
For a sequel, it isn't bad, but it isn't good either. It's so bad it is good. This is classic 80's cheese at it's finest 1 and 1/2 hours.
What is really amazing about this film is that Michelle Pfeiffer is the star. She plays Stephanie Zinoni, the new leader of the Pink Ladies. Yes, the pink ladies are in this one, too. Not only can Pfeiffer look down right unhappy to be in this film, but she can sing! and dance! sort of...
The highlight for her singing is with "Cool Rider", a tune in which she declares what it is she really wants in a guy to Michael.
She isn't a bad crooner, she even crooned in a much better movie "The Fabulous Baker Boys". Watching this on t.v.(the watered down, edited version), the other day, and now being older and wiser than I was the first 20 times, I think that Pfeiffer really didn't want to do this film. Perhaps she was embarrassed and still is by it. She doesn't look like she is enjoying being in a musical comedy. Her acting isn't bad, but it is strained. Maybe that is how the character should be played, but like John Travolta in "Grease", she just looks bored and uninterested.
As far as the movie goes, I can't believe I was so obsessed with this at one time. I know it was only because it had the name "Grease" attached to it.
That is the only similarity it has with the original. That and some of the same actors have come back. Didi Conn, Sid Ceasar, Eve Arden, and Doodie Goodman are all here. Frenchie, is showing Sandy's English cousin, Michael Carrington, played quite lamely by Maxwell Caulfield, the "ropes". Michael falls for Stephanie. Stephanie has just dumped the leader of the t-birds, Johnny Nogerelli. Johnny is played by Adrian Zmed. He hasn't become an Academy award nominated actor like Pfeiffer, but he is a decent enough actor who seems to fit more into this and looks more comfortable than Michelle.
Michael does everything he can in his power to become the "cool rider" that Stephanie is looking for. The really unrealistic part is how she meets up with him once he becomes Mr. Cool Rider, and she doesn't even know who he really is. But we wouldn't have much of a movie if she did know, right?
Also, the ending of the first movie is so much better. Here, we have a luai with corny tunes. Much much cornier than "We got Together". Instead, we get "We'll be together" as the last song.
Even though I know this is hardly a great movie musical, it seems to still keep me entertained today. The soundtrack has some really fun songs, and once again, I find myself just having fun watching and singing along.
Watch it for pure mindless fun.

Summary: Who thought this was a good idea?
Review: This movie is one of the most amazingly atrocious events set to film. The T-birds now inexplicably ride motor cycles? The T-Birds and Pink Ladies hang out at a bowling alley? All the main "kids" are played by 35-40 year olds? How Michelle Pfieffer actually managed to have a career after this is the question for all time being that she proves that she is neither a singer or dancer in this (even with a lot of help from a dubbing machine, her voice is barely passable). The plot (what there is of it) seems like it was dreamed up by a dreamy twelve year old girl (the over the top drama is laughably bad). Someone seemed to think that being a tough kid from the fifties means chewing gum in a loud and obnoxoius manner. I hope there was a dentist on the set of this movie. Who thought casting Adrian Zmed was a good idea? (his stint on Dance Fever was more exposure than the American public should have been subjected to). And we're to believe that motorcycle goggles will conceal a person's identity (are all the "kids" in this movie dimwitted?) A senior LUAU? Don't waste your money even renting this tripe. You'll be horribly disappointed. If it were possible to give this movie zero stars, I would have. It's truley terrible.

Summary: high up on the guilty pleasures list
Review: I'm embarrased to state that I really love this movie. I must have watched it 15 times one summer vacation when it was on heavy rotation on HBO. I was about 13 at the time, which may go a long way towards explaining my opinion... this one is right up a pre-teen's alley.... motorcycles, pink ladies, romance. I have to say that, if I were to see the movie for the first time as an adult, I would probably only give it a two-star rating. The songs are really cheesy, especially "who's that guy" and "let's do it for our country", but I know all the words to every song, and loved "cool rider". I thought Michelle Pfeifer prancing and singing on the ladder was the epitome of cool. (Remember, I was only 13) But it's a feel good kind of movie, and it still makes me smile every time I watch it. The sexpot teacher is a stand out now that I didn't notice as a kid, and Adrien Zmed is hysterical as the insecure and overcompensating leader of the T-birds. Stephanie's character is kind of whiny, and Maxwell Caulfield doesn't have much personality, but he's cute, and that serves the purpose for this film. Bringing Frenchie back didn't really contribute anything to the film, but overall I found the T-Birds and Pink Ladies really amusing. I still watch the re-runs on V-H1. High rating if only for the sake of nostalgia.
