Summary: She still has that same magic...
Review: Julie Andrews is just plain fabulous as Mary Poppins, the magical nanny, who happens to fit the exact description which the unruly Banks children have requested. She still pulls coat racks out of her carpet bag and jumps into pictures, not to mention having tea in those pictures while being served by animated penguin waiters.

This movie is a joy to watch. I didn't grow up watching it or anything like that, but the story always sounded fantastical, something I love seeing in entertainment, whether they be books or movies. I only first saw it a few years ago, maybe when I was about 10 or 11, but since then, I've many a time imagined myself being able to have that much fun. The story, of course, being generated for a young audience, is fairly corny...but still fun. Julie Andrews has such a beautiful voice. This movie is so classic, it's appalling that anyone over the age of 10 could miss it. Watch it, watch it, watch it.

What other classic movies are the greatest? I would recommend The Sound of Music, The Parent Trap, West Side Story, The King and I, Guys and Dolls, and of course, Grease. Fun movies to watch, and they're all delightfully cheesy, though not all aimed for the same age group. Check them out, though. You'll have fun.

Summary: Great music, great fun!
Review: As my 2.5 year old son loves this movie, I have had to watch it at least 20 times. Yet I still enjoy it. The music and lyrics are great fun, and I find myself humming the tunes hours after each viewing. The acting is excellent, and the charachters are charming.

Review: "supercalifragilisticexpealidosious" what else can be said about this movie. Walt Disney at its best. Even comparing to animation today, movies today miss the "supercalifragilisticexpealidosious" characteristic of this movie. it generates warmth to all who watch it. it also causes a smile to appear on the face of whomever is reminded of its essence.

Summary: A Really Cool Video
Review: Mary Poppins is a true classic. I've probally seen it over 20 times and it's always like watching it the first time. It's got wit, charm and heart. 'Feed the Birds' is probally the most underrated Disney song. It always makes me cry. Buy this video and watch it over and over! You'll enjoy it all over again.

Summary: It's Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
Review: With the possible exception of "Fantasia," "Mary Poppins" has to be Walt Disney's triumph. The story of the no-nonsense nanny with the sparkle of magic has not aged a bit in the 25-plus years since its initial release and remains a wonderful blend of music, magic, wonder and whimsy that the whole family can enjoy.

Julie Andrews is simply marvelous as is her supporting cast: Dick Van Dyke as Bert; Glynis Johns as Mrs. Banks; David Tomlinson as Mr. Banks; not to mention Ed Wynn as Mary's laughing uncle.

Modern attention spans being what they are, and since this IS a standard-length movie and not a video, I wouldn't introduce this film to very small children. Give them a few years until they can appreciate the witty lyrics and the plot. But "Mary Poppins" certainly deserves a home on every family's video shelf.

Summary: The music did it
Review: This was the first Disney movie released after I was born. The music did it for me & the musical numbers. Not the best, other wise the movie was too long.

Summary: Schacca steals the show
Review: Mary Poppins is a classic for all times. Although Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke star in this musical, Richie Schacca is the true scene stealer as he delivers first rate dance moves which are quite unusual for a man his size. Schacca, who later starred in the Disney flick "The Man With The Gargantuan Head" and "Big Boned" has disappeared from the world of show business, but is planning a comeback. He is scripting the autobiographical "Carmine's Apartment" and is working out the dance steps as of this writing. Looking forward to the triumphant return of "the big guy" later this year.

Summary: Inclined to giggle
Review: A little boring at times, this is often a very enjoyable movie with likeable characters and some nice animation. Drags a lot. A collection of some very hectic calamedy moments and some serious adult nonsense.
