Summary: Charismatic Chemistry Sparks Cathode Rays Catharsis
Review: Ann Margaret's back, sizzling, slinky, and as steamy as ever! She thrives heartily on both land and in water, bringing home that tongue biting, seam splitting splendor. As always, Margaret is crackerjack and cute as a button, but this time it's "Lights Out Everybody" as she frolics with one heck of a sidekick (the hurdy gurdy Mr. Presley)! This fireplug of femininity sets new standards for knocking the beejeebers OUT of you right after your socks come off! Meanwhile, Elvis stalks around in sporty cars as the ritzy starbuster that earned him the title of "THE King" (before he became Old King Cole). There's an explosive chemistry between these two lovebirds not often found in chemistry sets you might buy at the local Wal-Mart. Elvis sings and dances. Marvelous Miss Margaret dances and sings. Both feed off each other as the movie progresses. My only complaint is that the character names of "Rusty" (Ann) and "Lucky" (Elvis) don't fit the glamorous lifestyle they portray. Life gets a little sticky when "Lucky" enters the stock (car) market, and this relationship from heaven begins to experience a downward cycle. It seems the more down to earth Rusty wants nothing more than a small white house with a picket fence. Margaret's dance routines, complete with skimpy attire, will have the male "Hound Dog" audience throwing fits, and perhaps even fetching a bone or two. The more aggressive types will discover that biting or chewing on their own arms is a suitable and perhaps necessary therapy for adequate calming effect.

Review: Even if this film doesn't float your boat(and actually this is a pun because William Demerests character has a boat)...just do yourself a favor>>> sit through the first twenty minutes , a pretty cute musical theatre piece with Elvis and Cesere Danova pursuing a swim instructor, the subsequent meeting of Elvis and said instructorand another fun number with some actual great lyrics, the odd comic loss of Elvis's money(what little kid would find money and put it in a pool drain) and then get transported to UNLV where Elvis and Ann-Margaret do a little improvisational number, which is called Cmon Everybody. Elvis doesn't do it for you? Never really gotten Ann Margaret? These four minutes will solidify them in your mind as one of the coolest hot couples in the movies. This number is so hot you will want to see it twice, or three times. there is cool stuff, including the title track and Rusty(Ann-Margaret) crooning a Cole Porteresque number about sugar daddies. And a sort of anticlimactic sports car race... But Cmon Everybody take a real deep breath.... See this time capsule to a simpler Vegas in a simpler time. And rock with the king and queen of cool

Review: This movie seems a cut above the usual Presley picture, largely thanks to the energizing presence of Ann Margret. With her snazzy dancing, big numbers, and decent songs, Elvis seems to enjoy this one a bit. The plot is silly enough, but the whole thing is a fascinating time capsule. It even opens cinematically well with a long pan over the Las Vagas strip. The film's ending does seem extremely abrupt, as if they suddenly ran out of money or something, but it hardly matters in this live-for-the-moment funfest.

Review: Mix of Ann Margaret, songs, and scenary make it my favorite Elvis movie. Recommend however DVD Letterbox Version. Big Big Difference especially in Casino Review Scenes, Color and Sound.

Summary: FUN! FUN! FUN!
Review: I can't say that I'm a fan of either Elvis Presley or musicals and bought this video only as an experiment in watching something 180 degrees from my norm. Having said that-and standard Hollywood boy gets girl/loses/gets again simplicity aside-this film rocks! A technicolor kitsch fest with so-bad-it's-good Vegas cheese costumes and sets, this is a truly compelling time capsule...and it has THAT song. "What'd I Say?" is one of the most entertaining, hi-energy, goofy/silly, exuberant, infectious, fun dance numbers ever filmed (you have to play it again and again to get all the detail). A lot of what shows on MTV and VH1 is such a bore by comparison. The "Viva Las Vegas" number and the car race are great too.

Review: FRANKLY THIS IS NOT THE BEST ELVIS FILM AS MANY CLAIM.APRT FROM HAVING A KNOWN CO-STAR THIS FILM IS QUITE AVERAGE IN COMPARISON TO MOVIES LIKE KID CREOLE AND FLAMMING STAR.IN A NUT SHELL THE MUSICALS AND ELVIS'S CHARM GIVE THIS MOVIE THE HIGH RATINGS. THIS MOVIE RELIES ON SUCH SONGS AS "THE GIRL LOVES ME',AND OTHERS TO GIVE IT THE ZEST REGARDLESS ELVIS IS CLEVER AND CHARISMATIC AS HE USUALLY IS IN ALL HIS MOVIES.SO I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS FILM TO ALL ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO REALLY HAVENT WATCHED ELVIS FILMS BECAUSE THIS FILM WOULD BE CONSIDERED THE "MAINSTREAM" OF ELVIS MOVIES . IN OTHER WORDS FUN ENTERTAINMENT FOR ALL AGES AND PEOPLE .YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS CHOICE.

Summary: Viva Elvis Preley Viva Ann-Margret Viva 60's musicals!
Review: I havn't seen this film since I was thirteen years of age (I was ill in bed with Tonsilitis at the time). What a delight, I couldn't believe just how beautiful Ann-Margret was (and still is, I still have a crush on her 25 years later) the way she sang and pulled faces when she danced; she was so different to the female leads at the time (Audrey Hepburn, Doris Day etc). This must be the best film Elvis made, even though the plot is wafer thin and becomes a little boring when Ann-Margret isn't on the screen. It brought back so many good memories. Why isn't the picture Anamorphic? No 5.1 soundtrack? No directors commentary? (It would have been interesting to hear George Sidney's slant on the making of the film). C'mon MGM, pull your fingers out and re-release it again with a few more extra's, after all it was your biggest grossing film of 1964!

Review: In order to fully appreciate and enjoy "Viva Las Vegas," one has to see this stylish musical in a widescreen format. Therefore, the DVD version is a must. This Elvis Presley-Ann Margret time capsule looks and sounds great in DVD -- and you also get the original theatrical trailer. Once you have seen "Viva Las Vegas" in this format, you will know why it is considered Presley's best musical.

Summary: Elvis At His Rockin' Best
Review: The previous reviewer should realize that this is supposed to be a FUN movie, no one ever said it would be Shakespeare! Elvis only made fun movies for his fans, more or less portraying the same type of character, guy meets girl, falls for girl, etc. and also the chance to sing his latest soundtrack hits. This is one of Elvis' best films and my favorite of all his movies. If I want something heavy with a plot, I will watch the classics and heavy drama stuff. This is light entertainment and good, wholesome fun.
