Summary: Hats Off To Kitten And The Lip
Review: Ann-Margret fairly scintillates in this above-average Elvis vehicle, coaxing a winning performance out of the normally wooden Presley, who surely realized his vivacious co-star had the necessary goods to steal the flick, which she very nearly does. Giddy with the success of 1963's "Bye Bye Birdie" and a hot commodity at the time, Ann-Margret could sing, dance, emote and effortlessly exude sex appeal, just like Presley. Feeding off chemistry in spades, the pair engages in a good-natured game of "anything you can do, I can do better" one-upmanship that is danged entertaining. Particularly amusing is "The Lady Loves Me," a very witty duet with Ann-Margret coquettishly issuing withering snubs to Presley's romantic overtures before shoving him into a swimming pool. Besides the stars, "Viva Las Vegas" has going for it the always reliable Cesare Danova as a suave Italian racing champ and Presley's rival for Ann-Margret's affections, as well as plenty of Las Vegas eye candy and Grand Prix racing action. And lest I forget, there's the goofily great, pulse-pounding title song. I DARE you to resist singing along!

Review: As I sat in my film class, the intructor informed us about a change in the syllabus. We were going to view "Viva Las Vegas" instead of "Cabaret." I didn't know if this film was worth watching since I have never Watched an Elvis Presley film before. When the film finished, let me tell you, it was the best 86 minutes of my life. I'll be honest with you, the film has a cheesy plot, but with the integration of the musical scores "The Lady Loves Me," "Lova My Baby," and "Viva Las Vegas," to mention a few, the director was able to transform the cheesy plot into an entertaining musical that takes the viewer into a galloping and pulsating adventure of racecar racing and heart pounding sheer pleasure. What makes this film stand out above all musicals of the 60's era? Its the superb acting performances by Elvis Presley and Ann-Margret portraying Lucky Jackson and Rusty Martin and its brilliant Musical Scores. I strongly recommend this cat-and-mouse game musical to anybody that really appreciates great musical. Let me say that I am a proud owner of this fabulous film, which sits in my collection as of we speak. If not for my instructors change in syllabus, I would not have ever been introduced to this fantastic musical. OH what a tragedy!!! the only disappointment that I have with the DVD version that I purchased is the sound quality. Its not what I expected considering it be digital version, but this will not keep me from watching and enjoying this wonderful musical. Now, the million dollar question is, does boy get girl at the end? Rent or buy the movie and find out....ENJOOOOOOY!

Summary: Overhyped? You Decide.
Review: As much of an Elvis fan as I am, I can't help but think this is overhyped. It's an average type of musical, looks okay, songs average but take a deeper look and you will see cost cutting on a massive scale. Wobbly sets, a very sparse supporting cast, Elvis looks like Ken from Ken and Barbie with hair to match and Ann-Margret, who is not as popular or talented as she thinks she is, does a very average job - other actresses could have done a better job. After all, didn't he romance all of his leading women. This is viewed by many Elvisites as one of his best - just shows how bad the others are then! If you want to see what Elvis could really do on screen check out King Creole, Wild in the Country or even GI Blues if you want something more lighthearted.

Review: Evis hits the screen-he sings-he loves- he dances- and he fights, what else could you ask for! In this story Elvis is a down and out car racer that needs to get a new engine. Low on dough he strikes up a budding romance with ann-margret. Soon the whole screen is being blown apart with Elvis tunes and his fists! He rolls in the new engine and kicks booty all across the racetrack as he streaks to victory. Ann is a waitin and the big song at the end will blow you doors off. Thank you.... Thank you very much.

Summary: Viva This Elvis Movie!
Review: This one is more fun than it's legal to have at the movies thanks to Elvis, Las Vegas, and the sweet and delectable Ann-Margret. It's a pretty good story about Lucky Jackson (Elvis) trying to enter and win the Las Vegas Grand Prix, which doesn't get in the way of all the entertainment. This was Elvis at his best and Ann-Margret as Rusty matches him scene for scene, making this one something special. Cesare Danova is the Count Elvis will have to compete with on the race track and off, his rival for Ann-Margret from the moment she shows up at the garage, leggy and gorgeous, and asks, "Can someone look at my engine, it whistles?" She is sweet dynamite in this film and is the only one of his leading ladies to match him. They are magic together, and only years later would she reveal their love for each other, but not revealing any details. She was all class then and she's all class now. This Elvis film is in a class by itself. There are teriffic songs with no 'throw aways' here. "What'd I Say", "I Love My Baby, and My Baby Loves Me", "You'll Always be My Love", and of course, "Viva Las Vegas", capturing perfectly the excitment of the Las Vegas Strip are all here to enjoy. The most fun though is the back and forth of Elvis and Ann on "The Lady Loves Me, But She Doesn't Know It Yet" that culminates in her pushing him into the pool! Their first date captures all the fun of this movie as they go skeet shooting (she beats him), water skiing, get to ride mopeds around an airfield, dress up and play gunfight (she beats him again), and get to take a helicopter ride over hoover dam and the marina where her dad (William Demarest in a nice role) lives on a boat. He likes Elvis and knows his daughter does to, in spite of Rusty's fear that he'll get hurt racing. Shorty Fansworth offers nice support as Elvis's mechanic pal and the race is actually pretty good to. This is just a fun time at the movies with Elvis and Ann-Margret, some fine musical numbers, nice support from the cast, and the bright lights and hot desert of Las Vegas. If your going to pick up an Elvis movie, this is the one to get!

Review: Viva Las Vegas starring Elvis Presley and Anne Margaret was a great movie but it's unfortunate that another reknowned singer,Pat Boone has never had most of his movie-musicals released on video that were made during the 50's and 60's such as Bernadine,Mardi Gras,April Love,All Hands on Deck,The Yellow Canary etc...Video Distributors both large and small should aggressively pursue the release of these great Pat Boone movies that would prove to be a profitable venture,so spread the word!!!I mean Elvis as great as he was, shouldn't get all the glory!!!

Summary: DVD a good deal for the price
Review: Viva Las Vegas is one of Presley's most entertaining movies, with several catchy songs and great vintage footage of Vegas as it looked 40 years ago. The DVD has no real extras (a trailer hardly counts) but the picture and sound are sharp enough for the reasonable price, and it's in its proper wide-screen format. When Criterion brings out their high-priced version, stick with this one instead--you'll be getting more for your money.
