Rating: Summary: My favorite so far... Review: I've watched several of the Cirque performances on Bravo HD. It really is like being in first row. The picture is so clear. Not to say that the performances in each aren't excellent, but as far as "story-line" goes...most of them run together after a while and I can't say personally that any one stood out from another, until I saw Quidam. It is darker and intensely more magical than any of the other shows I've seen. I highly recommend it and plan to buy this dvd. I know this is one that I could watch again and again!
Rating: Summary: A life changing piece of art Review: I happened to catch this on TV by accident and I ordered it the same night--at 2:00 AM right after watching it.It's difficult to adequately describe how this piece melds art, theatre, dance, acrobatics, and music into a single cohesive form with one breathtaking moment after another. There is pomp and spectacle, pathos, absurdity, and a running commentary on the human experience, seen through the eyes of a child. Rather than go on for pages about it, I'll just say that you have to see this one. A truly remarkable piece. I can hardly imagine how anyone could fail to be moved by this show.
Rating: Summary: Quidam review Review: This is probably the second best after Alegria.. what really got my attention was the skipping rope... it was fabulous..4out of 5 stars
Rating: Summary: Quidam the DVD Review: This Cirque Du Soleil show, in which is about a journey seen through the eyes young girl, is amazing. It is one of my favorite cirque shows. The acts included in this dvd are, jump rope, ariel contortion in silk, diabolos, banquine, vice versa (statue), *****hand balencing, ariel hoops, german wheel, ariel ropes, and many more. My absolute favorite act is hand balencing on canes. It is performed by Olga Pikhienko, the same acrobat who does hand balencing in cirques latest production Varekai. This act is truly breath taking. The flexibility, stength and balence this acrobat performs seems virtually impossible. Cirque Du Soleil has yet to amaze us again! Other of my favorite acts include ariel contortion in silk. This is done by Issabel Chasse, the same girl who was in the group contortion in Nouvelle Expirience (an earlier cirque show.) Diabolos is a good act, it is performed by cute little asain girls who catapult chinese yoyos in the air. Jump roping is also good, it is full of many energetic performers. This cirque show is just amazing, I highly recomend it.
Rating: Summary: By far one of the greatest shows ever !!! Review: This movie has a great mixture of art, music, and performance to keep even the most belligerent person thoroughly entertained. I am only 16, but I found this movie to be simply outstanding, far above and beyond anything else you will ever see. With only the exception of one of the other fine Cirque Du Soleil performances. I have personally been to only one of there shows, Varekai, and it was awesome to say the least. So in conlusion I would highly recommend this or any other Cirque Du Soleil movie no matter how sceptical you are about its quality of content.
Rating: Summary: A Circus Unlike Others Review: When I watch a Cirque du Soleil ("Circus of the Sun") performance, I wonder how they were able to put together enough backing to launch the idea. "Yes, Mr. Investor, we're going to stage a surreal, artistic, small-scale circus for adults, with no animals or clowns. It will be one part circus, one part opera, and one part gymnastics. You'll be rich if you invest." "Ha, ha, ha, no really, what is the project really about?" But, Cirque du Soleil successfully blends those very factors into an entrancing, dreamlike show that leaves the viewer not sure what is real. "Quidam" revolves around a child who seems lost and neglected as he/she wanders through a surreal world inhabited by slow-motion gymnasts, people with distorted bodies, and people spinning around the stage inside giant hoops. They all seem bizarre to the child, who is fascinated, somewhat afraid, lost, and exhilarated. This is not for every viewer. If you can catch a Cirque du Soleil performance on television, or rent a tape, you'll either turn it off soon, or be captivated. If you're captivated, buy this tape, as it is so unusual that it can be enjoyed when watched again and again. Oh, and the investors who did say yes went "ha, ha, ha" all the way to the bank.
Rating: Summary: Ohmigawsh!! Review: I cannot begin to tell you how amazing Cirque du Soleil is. The whole show is absolutely electrifying, not only becase of the acrobatics and acting, but because of the sets, the music, and the costumes as well. Every bit of the stage shimmers with life and magic. The characters have amazing amounts of expression in them, and communicate every moment perfectly. Quidam has enough plot to create a stunning story, but leaves room for the interpretation that is the essence of the show. Also, the filming is superb. I am very interested in creating costumes and sets for the theatre, and Quidam was very inspiring to this. You'll have the music stuck in your head forever too, by the way...
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Breathtaking Review: I have been studying the Cirque Du Soleil productions for the past few months. Each time I watch this DVD, I see something new. The music, the athleticism, the choreography, and the lighting are astounding. Attention to detail is an understatement. Everything is so well timed and executed. You won't be disappointed. Buy it and enjoy.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: This is a wonderful DVD to add to your collection. I saw Quidam live before I saw the DVD. While the DVD is really great, it comes nowhere near the experience of seing it live. I bought it as a momento of going to the show. I also strongly suggest the soundtrack. The talents of the performers with Cirque du Soleil are breathtaking!
Rating: Summary: SPECTACULAR!!!!!!!! Review: After I saw this performed live that is exactly what I thought! Quidam will keep you at the edge of your seat, craving for more amazing acts. I was sad to get up when the intermission came and even sadder when it ended. The music was absolutely perfect for the performance and the acts were really breath-taking. I would suggest seeing Quidam live before the movie but both are exellent.
