Summary: A Christmas Legacy
Review: I am thankful that John Denver was a contemporary of mine. He has inspired and motivated me during most of my adult life. Only John Denver could have given us Montana Christmas Skies. I cherish its beauty, its warmth, and its message. John Denver's music is a Christmas staple at our house, and this DVD, along with John Denver's legacy, will continue to touch my heart and spirit in the years to come. I recommend John Denver's music in general, and Montana Christmas Skies in particular, as nourishment for the soul.

Summary: A Little Heavy on the Talking
Review: I enjoy John Denver's music. He had an expressive, charming way of delivering his beautiful, simple songs. You could always depend on Denver to deliver strong vocals and a good lyric as he does here with a mixture of Christmas standards and his own music. If music was the only content on this disc, I'd have given it a higher rating.

Unfortunately, he filled the dead air between songs with sugary platitudes about sharing and togetherness, as if lecturing a nationwide kindergarten assembly. And he went on and on about the beauty of the scenery, as though saying it enough would make it true. I've lived in Montana and the plains in winter are not beautiful. The plains in Montana are what you drive through at 90 MPH to get to the mountains.

The picture on the DVD is pretty good for what was obviously originally shot on video tape for a TV Christmas special, and the sound is OK if not spectacular.

Summary: Excellent for the family!
Review: I enjoy this video--and am pleased John Denver did a recent Christmas special which we now have. I found the Native American participation beautiful...and John's guests (Clint Black, Kathy Mattea, Patty Loveless) are a perfect accompaniment to an already special Christmas video. This video is excellent for all--and I feel especially for families with children...

Summary: A Wonderful Christmas Tradition
Review: I found this DVD in the bargain bin at Wal-Mart. Not being a particular John Denver fan (I like some of his stuff, but for the most part I can take it or leave it) I decided to take a chance.

I was very pleasantly surprised. JD, Clint Black, Kathy Mattea, and Patty Loveless jammin' in the barn is the best! Personal highlights for me are Clint Black's "Till Santa's Gone", Kathy Mattea's "Christ Child Lullaby", and Patty Loveless & Kathy Mattea do a great duet of "Someday Soon".

There are other highlights too like the JD classic "Grandma's Feather Bed", John singing "Rudolph" and "Away In A Manger" with a group of kids, and the bittersweet emotions evoked by John singing "I want to Live". Although I'm not a number one fan, the world is a much sadder place without him.

If you're thinking twice about purchasing this video, think no more. It's a wise purchase that you'll enjoy for years to come. I know I have.

Summary: JOHN DENVER CHRISTMAS
Review: John Denver's Montana Christmas is a great musical adventure in the style which only John could deliver. The narration is not only appropriate, it is complementary to the setting and season. Now that John has passed on, his words carry a new and deeper meaning. Long live John's memory! It would be great if the other Christmas concerts were available also.

Summary: Join John, Clint, Kathy & Patty for a memorable holiday
Review: John is joined by several country stars as they sing favorite and memorable holiday songs. Several solos by Clint Black, patty Loveless and Kathy Mattea add to the glory of John Denver's unique style and love of life.
As a true JD fan for decades, it hurts to see him so alive and singing "I want to live" and yet, I feel that his legacy, his music, his ability to help us think and to grow will live on, especially in this video. The Native American Indians and cowboys who share stories along the way only enhance this video.
I have purchased about a dozen copies of this video from amazon.com over the last few years to give to friends here and abroad. They all have truly enjoyed the fine collection of songs.
John may be gone now, but he will never be forgotten. I very highly (rank this 10+ on a scale from 1-5) recommend this to everyone and anyone. It was and remains a classic.

Summary: When the music meets the nature
Review: My first thought when I saw this video was that most of the music John sung and wrote, deserves to be heard while looking to these open spaces. Wonderful music for wonderful sights. NOTE for non-US costumers: despite to what it is written up here, the copy of this DVD that I bought, is playable on all regions.
