Review: Love them or hate them (there really isn't a middle ground) one cannot deny the Spice Girls are big and they have had (for better or worse) a huge impact on pop music and culture. Their second album is testament to this. Despite a brilliant debut SPICE WORLD tops it with more diverse musical styles, stronger lyrics and better vocals. The Spice Girls churn out great song after great song and when "The Lady Is A Vamp" is over you really do feel as if you have watched a show. The differing styles bounce the listener around and you have a feeling of not knowing what to expect next. Repeated listenings do not diminish this effect which speaks volumes for the Spice Girls and their music. Yes, THEIR music. As can be found on various internet sites devoted to the girls, they do write their own lyrics and melodies. Arrangements are handled by other writers. One may call the music and words derivitive, but this is pop music and those standards are different, not lower than in other genres. In fact, the Spice Girls place themselves outside the pop format on several tracks. "Stop" is a wonderful homage to the Motown music of the Sixties before it turned into bad R&B. "Viva Forever" is authentic Spanish sounding music with haunting strings and some of the best vocals the Girls have put on tape since "2 Become 1." "The Lady Is A Vamp" is Sinatra, Las Vegas and jazz send-up all in one. "Move Over" (argueably the best track on the album and my personal favorite from the album) features the heaviest beat the Girls have grooved to on any record and shows the quintet broadening their vocal range with angry, loud singing, yet still retaining their wonderful harmonies. The Spice Girls' entire discography may not be considered timeless in the future, but this album deserves to be. In an age of worn-out rap, rock and metal, it's wonderful to see five talented women putting art back into pop and earning themselves the right to be called artists.

Review: Hello to all you people that hate this CD. Hello, anyone ever think of diversity? If you don't like it, don't listen to it. Everyone is different. If your gonna hate it, hate it, but don't critizize the people who enjoy a different taste of music of yours. People who complain about their singing: Jeez, give them a break. It takes courage to get up there and sing and I bet YOU couldn't do it for you life. It takes courage, and you probably don't have it. It's okay to hate, but don't complain and critizize them. IT'S CALLED COULTURAL DIVERSITY

Review: This CD has a various number of styles and slammin' tunes. How couldn't you like it? They're an awesome group! They've got motown, latin, and almost everything else. Even though Geri left they're still going. For all Geri and Mel C fans: both of them each are relasing their own CD's. Go get 'em when they come out! Long live GIRL POWER! Viva las Spice Girls!
