Review: i loved this movie because i love to tap dance.this movie was great.i even have the movie.first i didn't realy like it but when i got older i got used to it.santa claus got it for me. the thing i like best about it is the dancing and the music that's why i lied this movie.

Summary: A stunning experience of sight and sound.
Review: I saw Riverdance in Tampa and this video keeps the experience fresh in my mind even though the cast was different. I sometimes play the video while I am doing other things and enjoy the wonderful sounds. Any fan of Irish music and dancing will enjoy the video. (and maybe some who are not fans!)

Summary: Buy the VHS Version -- Don't Buy This DVD
Review: Both the sound and video quality of the VHS version are superior to the DVD product. This DVD was so poorly done that they couldn't even get it all on one disk surface, requiring that you turn the disk over for Act 2. The whole show is less than the length of a typical movie. (Even "Gone with the Wind" doesn't require turning over the disk!) VERY badly done, and worth boycotting as a product unworthy of the excellence of the show itself. I'm sorry I bought it.

Summary: Uplifting
Review: This version is superior to the original. I personally have no problem with Colin's performance. The entire production is uplifting and exciting.My only criticism, also mentioned by others, is that the editing is a little overdone and actually appears to come from at least 2 if not 3 tapings, which is OK, but at least they could use the same audience for all house shots. Also, one segment near the end is of noticably less quality than everything else.

Summary: A fantastic show, better than the original!
Review: I found the New York version of Riverdance much better than the original. The narration helped one follow the story, the new added numbers were especially good, and the antics of Eileen Ivers and the drummer, et. al. added a special spice. Michael Flatley may be flamboyant but Colin Dunne has the same effortless, weightless moves that make Jean Butler seem one of the sidhe! Trading Taps was out of this worldyet wholly believable as young people of two cultures traded ideas and got acquainted. Kids anywhere can get along! If you can, get all the Irish dance tapes, but if you can only get one, let it be the Radio City Riverdance!

Summary: The show was good but the transfer to DVD was AWFUL.
Review: I was so looking forward to this DVD but was completely disappointed. I have the original Riverdance VHS tape and was looking forward to a similar joyous event but with all of the added benefits of DVD. The performance was on par with the original Riverdance Dublin performance (better or worse depending on your comparison of Michael Flately vs Colin Dunne) but the quality of the transfer was AWFUL! The VHS tape had better quality! To my eye, it looked like the NYC performance was shot on 16mm film and a simple transfer made to DVD. No surround, no bass effect and a grainy image. Stay with the tape if you want to see this show.

Summary: Sorry to say, "A great show, but it lacks Michael Flatley".
Review: With all due credit to Colin Dunne's fine dancing, he doesn't radiate the commanding personality of Michael Flatley. It's especially obvious in the Flamenco dance in which Maria Pages now performs a solo. Forget the glitz of this New York Radio City Music Hall production. Stick with the original Dublin version. It's more electric with each successive viewing.

Summary: We miss Michael!
Review: We thoroughly enjoyed this video. Some of the slower numbers from the original Riverdance video have been removed from the show (possibly to compete with the faster-paced "Lord of the Dance)." Colin is a brilliant dancer, although Jean Butler seems to tower over him in some of the numbers. Michael Flatley is not to everybody's taste, but we personally missed his special brand of flamboyance. The rewind button will be used again and again to watch some of the more brilliant numbers, most notably when the entire Riverdance troupe dance together. Highly recommended.

Review: This video has not only the most enchanting dancing ever captured on high-quality videotape, but some of the best music ever written, sung by truly incredible vocalists. I cannot recommend this videotape highly enough; rarely can a single videotape change your life.

Summary: Wonderful Spirit
Review: The atmosphere of Radio City Music Hall makes this version larger than life! I consider this version to be better than the original Riverdance with Michael Flatley. Colin Dunne is a joy to watch! He is technically stronger than Flatley in terms of irish tap and the speed of his footwork, although he is smaller in stature. There is also greater opportunity for the other cast members to shine! Thus, there is an impression of togetherness, effort and comraderie to bring the show to life! A wonderful recording that you will watch again and again!
