Rating: Summary: What a find!! - I dont know why some gave this low rating Review: This is a must see DVD of the CARS performing in the beginning of their carrer. Some people have complained about the picture and sound. I cant understand what they expect from footage shot in the late 1970's!!!!! Considering the age of this show the sound and picture are great. I think we should all should feel lucky that we have access to see this concert at all. I guess they are looking for something as the same quality as if it was shot in 2004???? Don't hesitate on buying this. This has classic CARS songs on it and the interview at the end is nice also to see them all together again
Rating: Summary: Cars fans, you gotta get this one! Review: This is a very rare and very old piece of concert footage from The Cars' one and only European tour in 1979. The concert takes place in a small club, showcasing the band at their best. Unfortunately, there is a down side to placing older video footage onto the DVD format. As noted on the package, there are "technical anomalies inherent in historic footage." What this translates to is intermittent horizontal lines that appear throughout the duration of the concert. If you can get past that, then it's a great show. Bonus material includes a CD sampler and lengthy interview with the band. The interview, while quite interesting, is somewhat tough to watch as Ben Orr is sadly in the advanced stages of cancer. Still, it's great to see the entire group reassembled after all this time for a really entertaining discussion of the band, their history, and their music. A thoroughly enjoyable DVD for a very reasonable price. A must have for all fans!
Rating: Summary: Any Complaints are Petty Review: This is an exceptional product for fifteen bucks. The VERY long interview featuring all members is generous (nice to get some final perspective from Ben Orr prior to his tragic passing), and the performance itself is revealing and tight. Those who are surprised to find differences between the "slick" studio versions and these live versions should just stick to studio releases, then they won't have to be inconveninced by the human element of live performance. Don't listen to these dorks, just buy it. If you're familiar with the studio version of "In Touch With Your World", you'll be amazed as Greg Hawkes pulls out every goofy contraption you can think of to recreate every sound live.
Rating: Summary: Great Band, Good Job Rhino! Review: This is the coolest DVD of the World's coolest band. Before today's synchronized dancing, corporate-made acts, The Cars actually played instruments live on stage. I always wondered what it would be like to see The Cars in a small club before they became too famous, and this DVD is it! The picture is up close and captures what each member is doing live. What is particularly interesting is that the songs sound the way they do on the albums, and Rhino left in the spaces between the songs so you can see the knob turning and effects-box stepping, just like you were at the show. I'm glad that Rhino did not over produce the footage, and just let it run. This DVD also makes me a little sad to remember that music and performing live will never be like this again. The Cars are forever!
Rating: Summary: A good perspective of the Cars Review: This Video came across to me at a Tower Records. There was a sticker on the video that said "Proceeds benefit the Benjamin Orr Memorial". This is how I learned of Orr's death. The Performance was raw and energized. Quite nice was the space between the songs that were left in unedited. (Rhino preserved the integrity of the performance with what appears to be no overdubs. The Interview at the end is over 50 minutes long, and one is faced with the immediate knowledge that something is dreadfully wrong with Benjamin Orr. I will not mention his appearance, but it is very sad. Orr had a remarkable voice and the performance shows this, and he was quite a perfectionist. I recommend this CD with a full heart...... Rating: Summary: Give me more! Review: Worth the price of admission alone for the searing, stripped-down, super-rockin' version of "Bye Bye Love"...Easton and Orr, particularly, shine throught.
