Summary: Essential for Who Fans
Review: This is a wonderful hour-long documentary on the making of "Who's Next" and its origins in the Lifehouse project. There are very good interviews with Pete, Roger, John, Glyn Johns, Chris Stamp, Dave Marsh and others. As with other shows in the Classic Albums series, there are some cool moments at the mixing board with the original multitrack recordings, showing how the final mixes were put together (for instance just Roger's voice and Keith's drumming during "Behind Blue Eyes.") There is some great live concert footage, including several numbers from the 1976 tour. Some excellent explanations of Pete's approach to sequencing for the groundbreaking synthesizer parts on the album. Finally, a few brand-new performances (Pete singing "Pure and Easy" at the piano and "Won't Get Fooled Again" with just an acoustic guitar.) If you love Who's Next you will find this DVD to be well worth the money.

Review: This is an awesome documentary about Who's Next album. The way it was recorded and memories.
I agree with Steve Walsh from Argentina, I think it's very stupid from that person who mistaken this video with a concert when you can clearly have the idea that it's a rockumentary. Anyways, the video it does includes rare footage of the Who performing in the seventies and Pete Townshend at his home studio in 1971. MUST HAVE for anyone who wants to know how an album is recorded.
This video belongs to a serie called "CLASSIC ALBUMS" that includes "The Brown Album" by The Band, "Electric Ladyland" by Jimi Hendrix, "Rumours" by Fleetwood Mac and others.

Summary: Classic WHO
Review: This is an incredible and amazing journey inside the making of Who's classic album "WHO'S NEXT". I can't believe some idiots reviews feeling upset 'cos there's too much talking? There's the talking needed and the music needed. The interesting about this video of course, it's to know how they recorded the album. That's why it's a documentary on the album. Andrew Giffith from Switzerland is one of those idiots making a bad review 'cos the explanations are too much for his wee little brain. For one, he can't even spell the name of the song "BABA O'RILEY", the idiot called the song "baby o riley", and second, he complains of that song not being complete on this video. That performance is the one at Shepperton Studios for the film "THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT" and it's already complete there, so why putting it in this video again????? I prefer the producer and The Who themselves explaining how did they record it than watch just the song complete again. If I feel like just watching it complete I will grab my video of "THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT" and that's it. SO IDIOT ANDREW!!!! One of the most fascinating parts is Pete Townshend explaining how he got the fantastic background organ in "Won't Get Fooled Again" and the idiot Andrew again, complains about it. Another fool I guess, who mistaken this documentary for a Concert. IF YOU JUST WANT TO HEAR THE SONGS LIKE YOU SAY, GRAB THE CD AND THAT'S IT ;-) IDIOT ANDREW IDIOT. Sorry but I needed to repeat it again since you are so idiot that repeated your review twice. So ahem, here I go again. IDIOT ANDREW IDIOT ;-)

Summary: Awesome Album & Hilarious Review by Ray Davies!!!
Review: This is the most consistently brilliant Who album ever!!! Sure Tommy may have great songs, but many of them were filler and short little ditties. The Who's Next showed the true genious of Townshend and the boys. From start to finish, not a single throwaway track here. A must listen for any music fan!
To tell you all the truth, I haven't even seen the documentary (although i will purchase it within the next few minutes thanks to amazon). The real reason I write this little scrap is that I thought Ray Davies' review was ABSOLUTELY HILARIOUS!!! The way he completely dissed Andrew from Switzerland was classic and it had me rolling on the floor for about 10 minutes! Props to Ray ( and Andrew's mom) for the comic relief and true understanding of what makes a good documentary.
And props to the Who for the inspiring music.

Review: Well done! Provides wonderful context for The Who's most (arguably) memorable album. We get to hear from all the players - save the late Kit Lambert (big influence on Pete) and, of course, the turbocombustion of The Who, Keith. This is great for passive Who fans. It will give them a much deeper appreciation of the significance of The Who. For long-time Who fans, this DVD/video (get the DVD! - great sound and video) will help articulate how you feel about The Who and what they mean to you. I really think you will enjoy this. By the way, pick up the new single cd of Pete's Lifehouse Chronicles. You will discover - if you didn't already know - how much of a genius Pete is - and how there would be no semblance of The Who - without Pete. The demos of the Lifehouse concept - which ended up being Who's Next are great, but the revelation is the 1999 "Who Are You"! This live track sounds freshened and different in a way that would sound good on any "cool" radio staion of today (be it alternative, hit or triple A) - and it is a shame we are not hearing it. "Lifehouse Elements" from Pete does a faily good job of giving a sense of what that concept was supposed to mean - and it sounds interesting.
