Rating: Summary: BEST GODSMACK PERFORMANCE, EVER!!!!!!!! Review: alright, let me start by saying that I saw godsmack when they opened up for metallica a few days ago in ottawa, and after seeing them live, i immediatly went out and bought this dvd. They put on such an awesome show, and this is well portrayed in "Changes." Sully Erna's stage presence is unlike any other, wicked guitar, but the drumming is the best part. Sully plays the drums too, and so he and their regular drummer, shannon larkin, each sit behind a drum kit, and have a 'Drumoff'. Being a drummer myself, i can tell you that it's the best part of the performance. For the price that they're charging, it's practically a STEAL!!! I have just a few critique's, but in no way does this mean the dvd isn't worth buying. BUY IT REGARDLESS!!!! 1. Although the documentary footage is really cool to see, it should have been all played together in a seperate option from the concert. By this, i mean that in between songs during the concert, they inserted small 5 minute clips of godsmack documentary footage, then they cut back to the concert. This gets a bit annoying, but still wicked cool none the less. 2. Serenity wasn't the greatest performance ever, it was played a little too fast, and there was no background drumming.....but it was still really cool to see. Once again, regardless of a few minor critiques, this dvd is a steal for the price.....buy it right now if you haven't already. ROCK ON!!!!! GODSMACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: The DL on Godsmack Review: As they say themselves in the documentary, "They sold their souls for rock 'n roll". Overall, this is an amazing DVD that really shows their fans their true selves, which is basically one laugh after the other. These guys crack me up! My favorite part is the battle of the drums between Sully and Shannon. It's intense! They sound awesome (and I have not so good speakers) and the show just blew me away. I would recommend this DVD to any Godsmack fan!
Rating: Summary: Totally Awesome! Review: Godsmack's new DVD absolutley blew me away. It was so awesome and amazing!! I can watch this DVD over and over and never get tired of it. Some great stuff about this DVD is if you don't wanna watch the documentary parts, you can just watch the whold DVD straight forward as a concert. Man, it's sooooo good. Godsmack is the best ever!! BUY THIS!
Rating: Summary: Unbelievable Review: I became a fan of Godsmack because of the fresh and infectuous drum tracks on the album Awake. I don't own any Godsmack CD's but I have heard their stuff. I had a chance to watch this DVD a few days ago, and man was I impressed.
I have probably a dozen other live hard-rock/metal DVD's, and this one is right up at the top of the pack for best live sound and great camera work. Some live DVD editors are guilty of switching camera angles too often and too fast. This DVD will engage singers, guitarists, and drummers, because it balances the footage very well between the band members. The sound on this DVD is awesome, even on a crappy TV speaker. Granted, much of that is just that the band has such a great sound, but the live mix is great.
This DVD features a face-to-face drum battle and two-part drum solos. It also contains a movie, which just follows the band around and gives the viewers an inside track on getting to know the band. I think this is a very good effort of how to produce a DVD. Godsmack is really giving a lot to their fans, not only in unbelievable performance, but also in a well-done DVD.
I don't really need to say much about this band. But their music is fresh and infectuous, and every band member is phenomenal at his instrument. Together they have tremendous energy. The reason I say all of this is because you see it live on this DVD. The sound is so tight and powerful.
This DVD demonstrates a talented and powerful band - live. The sound and their stage presence are so good live I found little (if any) measurable difference between it and their studio work.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely...I-N-C-R-E-D-I-B-L-E! Review: I've hardly come across any amazing concert DVD's, but this meets the standards of awesomeness. The quality is so SO good, I can watch it over and over and still have my pants wet. This is a definite buy for ANYONE, whether or not Godsmack is your favourite band, this is an amazingly SWEET and a steal! With this type of WICKED material, the price is ripping GODSMACK off!! BUY IT, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IN THE LEAST!!
Rating: Summary: Outstanding Live DVD and Documentary Review: If you like Godsmack, owning this DVD is mandatory. The sound and video quality are top notch as is the band's live performance. The "behind the scenes" footage is pretty interesting. However, it would be nice if you could watch all the songs straight through without the documentary clips that are shown between tunes. I found one thing a little distracting in the concert footage. On some of the songs when Sully is not playing rhythm guitar (i.e., Tony is the only one playing guitar), you can hear a second guitar track. My guess is that these tracks were added in post-production to thicken the sound and make the songs sound more like the album. I saw Godsmack live a few weeks ago (opening for Metallica) and I didn't notice any phantom guitar during Godsmack's set. So I doubt that there was actually another guy playing guitar but hidden backstage during the performances on the DVD. Overall, this is a great DVD and it captures the power of Godsmack's stage show extremely well.
Rating: Summary: Performance INCROYABLE!!!!
Rating: Summary: A great all around DVD Review: This combination documentary/live show performance chronicles life on the road for these rock and roll gods during their 2003-2004 "Faceless" tour. This film allows the viewer into their world as they contend with the rigors of touring, contending with thousands of details and it provides an interpersonal view of how each of the band members cope with all the stresses associated with touring. It also didn't give you a superficial view of their life as with most DVD's about a band. Rather, you are exposed to some of the nuts and bolts behind such a large scale tour and you aren't inundated with the merry atmosphere of morally absent women and decadent behavior. In addition to this insightful documentary of sorts, you will also see 12 incredible live performances in 5.1 surround sound. Put this beauty into your dvd player and hook up the surround sound because it's about as close as being to a live show from just watching a DVD as you are going to get. The camera work was superb from start to finish and more importantly, it wasn't directed in a way that only appeals to the MTV generation with a montage of super short cuts. They sparred no expense with this DVD and you are assured a quality production of one of better rock bands in the industry. It would be hard to imagine any GODSMACK fan not having this in their collection. Even if you only like some of their nationally recognized songs, this DVD will appeal to you as well. All of their most killer tracks on this one like "Bad Religion", "Moon Baby", "Stand Alone" and of course, their signature drum solo, "Batalla de los Tambores." The sound quality of those songs are of CD quality but you get to see them work their craft live during one of their many blistering shows.
Rating: Summary: Confirmation that Godsmack rules Review: This DVD only confirms my assumptions about Godsmack's dedication to their music and to their fans, and to the delivery of absolute quality in everything they do.
First of all, the DVD itself is a gem. The quality of the artwork of the case contents, as well as the camera work, the content editing and production, and the Circle Surround audio makes playback truly amazing, on almost any home sound system.
As a heavy metal and rock enthusiast, and as a member of the band's generation, Godsmack has struck a chord with me. This is not your stereotypical thrash-happy, metal band. Changes shows that Godsmack is truly an exceptionally talented hard rock band who exhibit superior creativity, intelligence, committment to quality, and an extraordinary work ethic. They are living proof that their recipe for success works, and frankly, it's inspiring. Show this to your teenage kids as a prime example of the rewards for living core values.
Furthermore, Changes doesn't insult the viewers' intelligence with overindulgence in wine and women. On the contrary, it portrays a realistic side of the band that includes perspectives about their families and the kind of dedication that's needed to survive on the road for 10 months straight.
In addition, it's refreshing to see a band get along so well, having so much respect for one another and for the band as a whole. Each member is among the best in the business, and being able to keep their individual pride in check for the good of the band is a testament in itself.
Finally, the music is just above and beyond any of my expectations from a live performance. Here's where the true quality of Godsmack becomes apparent. The band doesn't take shortcuts or play out of tune, or improvise in any of the numbers. Instead, they cover the full range and intensity they deliver on their studio releases. Visually, their stage performance and effects are a stunning compliment to their music. And yes, I'll concur that the tandem drum session is worth the price of the DVD alone.
Godsmack has rewarded its fans in a big way with this release. But even if you're not a fan, one can't help but appreciate the craftsmanship of the band and the fine product they've created.
Rating: Summary: Don't Just Sit There.....BUY IT!! Review: Wow. The sound quaulity is amazing. I have a high end system, and this DVD just amazes people, even people that don't like Godsmack. Once you hear this, no other DVD will sound as good.
