Rating: Summary: The Many Vidoes Of Cher Review: After over four decades of chart topping hits, movies, and television shows, the crew at Warner Bros. and Cher have decided to FINALLY release a DVD consisting of some of Cher's greatest music vidoes. We finally now get a chance to own the classic Navy video to "If I Could Turn Back Time," to the redifined Cher in "Believe."The new DVD does include many great Cher videos (I.e. Walking In Memphis, Strong Enough, Heart Of Stone, etc.), but does lack some of the more interesting hits as well. Where is the concert performance video for "All Or Nothing," or the out of this world, space fantasy video for "The Music's No Good Without You?" Instead we get remixed versions to songs such as "One By One," and "Song For Lonely," and not the originals. All in all a great compilation for Cher's very first music video DVD. However, the production seems a bit rushed. Hopefully Warner Bros. will re-release this item in a few years with a complete videography. Overall, good enough for a four (4) star rating.
Rating: Summary: Gotta luv CHER! Review: Cher rules (so moving on to the DVD):
the dvd is good. the sound and picture all give it its compliments for CHER. There are a few setbacks to the dvd like other reviewers have posted here; some videos are missing which would've made the DVD so much more worth owning.not that i regret buying it b/c i luv cher and i luv her music..
My Video Feedback:
1-Believe:Absolute HIT!Smells hit all over the place. This song was everywhere in the clubs and internationally--10/10
2-If I Could Turn Back Time:Huge late 80s hit for Cher.Besides "Believe" being a classic, she is remembered for this song so much--10/10
3-Save Up All Your Tears:I luv this song. Some people have a problem liking it..i think its a good song that really should've had more success than it did. Personal rating of 10/10
4-Walking In Memphis:Elvis lives..in CHER..it was a nice video although it could've been replaced perhaps by a better one like "Dark Lady". 8/10
5-One By One: I luv the dance version on her current Greatest Hits cd (Jr. Vasquez edit)and the cover of the DVD has it as a DANCE REMIX.im not too fond of this version 1/10
6-Main Man: Early 80s Cher perhaps mid 80s.its an alritey song with some good lyrics in it 7/10
7-I Found Someone:Rockish Cher. I luv this song.the first time i heard was @ her BELIEVE tour when she was @ the MGM GRAND like in late 99 or early 2000.10/10!
8-Strong Enough:The video doesnt make much sense with the song but i luv the song b/c its very Disco-ish(well it really is disco you can say)but its catchy and good for cher. 10/10
9-Song for the Lonely:was this the first single off LIVING PROOF?nonetheless its a great song that quite didnt make too much noise like BELIEVE did..it was not promoted correctly by her label i say. 10/10
10-Half Breed:Total Cher classic although the video is well STUPID but i luv the song and so do her fans 10/10
11-We All Sleep Alone:MAN! I LUV THE VERSION ON THE "BELIEVE" cd! so for that version i give it a 11/10 and for the original its too slow for me so imma go with 6/10
12-Heart of Stone:this dvd is how i discovered the video for this song.i luv the song so much but again it wasnt promoted correctly 10/10
13-The Shoop Shoop Song:now cher aint the original singer but it became a fan favorite, a hit for cher, and she was awesome in the movie "Mermaids"(where the song was featured). the video was cutesy you can say 10/10
14-Dov'e l'Amore:i gotta say its great to finally see this video here in the USA!I LUV THIS VERSION OF THE SONG and really the video could've been better 10/10
15-Love Can Build a Bridge:im not sure what to make of this song although it is nice it couldve also been replaced by another cher video and even so, some other videos couldve been replaced.i give the song 6/10
So overall, the DVD is like a 9.2/10 for me that is
Rating: Summary: A terrific (and affordable) collection! Review: Cher's videos are a lot of fun. While not all the songs here were big hits ("Main Man," "Dov'e L'Amore"), all the videos are TERRIFIC. From the sleazy, big-haired Cher in "We All Sleep Alone" to the cool, calm, collected Cher in "Half-Breed," the viewer is treated to four decades of videos from one of the world's most versatile and engaging entertainers. The best videos (by a mile!) are "Heart Of Stone" and "Walkin' In Memphis." The former showcases a bittersweet Cher in a stone room surrounded by projected images of her life and the world in turmoil; the latter treats us to Cher's Elvis Presley impression and a soft, lovely Cher crooning on the steps of a bus. Awesome, awesome videos! Track list for the U.S. version: 1. Believe 2. If I Could Turn Back Time 3. Save Up All your Tears 4. Walkin' In Memphis 5. One By One (US version) 6. Main Man 7. I Found Someone 8. Strong Enough 9. Song For The Lonely 10. Half-Breed 11. We All Sleep Alone 12. Heart Of Stone (single mix) 13. The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss) 14. Dov'e L'Amore (dance mix) 15. Love Can Build A Bridge
Rating: Summary: A missed opportunity here Review: Did Cher have a say in this compilation of her video hits? Obviously not, because what we have here is a skimming of the great lady's career, and with so many classics missing, how can the distributor dare call it "The Very Best of". There is room for more videos, so why didn't they go all the way? What we get is only 60 minutes of hit and misses with a hefty price tag.
Internationally, several of these videos are barely known outside America. The video list is as follows with my comments where needed:
1. Believe - HIT
2. If I Could Turn Back Time - HIT
3. Save Up All Your Tears- a minor hit from LOVE HURTS album. What we should have got is "Love and Understanding" which is the first and better hit single from that album.
4. Walking In Memphis - Internationally, this track is quite unknown, it would have been better to include an oldie such as "I Got You Babe".
5. One By One - Once again, this is a largely unknown song internationally.
6. Main Man- same comment as above.
7. I Found Someone- HIT.
8. Strong Enough- minor hit internationally.
9. Song For The Lonely - once again, this is a largely unknown song internationally.
10. Half Breed- HIT: good to see this included. More classics from this era would have made the collection definitive.
11.Heart of Stone - Probably my favourite Cher track. To me, having this on video makes up for the other disappointments on this DVD. GREAT SONG EVEN IF THE VIDEO VERSION IS REMIXED.
12. We All Sleep Alone - minor hit, dull video.
13. The Shoop Shoop Song- HIT. Another great video that is a blessing to have on here.
14. Dov'e L'Amore- once again, this is a largely unknown song internationally.
15. Love Can Build A Bridge- same comment as above.
There you have it. With so many songs that are internationally unknown, why didn't the distributor put together a more definitive look at this lady's career? Where are the videos for:
1. Love and Understanding
2. Jessie James
3. I Got You Babe
4. Love Hurts
5. Bang Bang
6. White lady
7. Gypsies, tramps and thieves
Without these videos, this DVD is one big disappointment that does not appeal to the international market. The only reason to consider buying it is because it contains the brilliant video for "Heart of Stone". Easily Cher's best song.
Rating: Summary: Ladies & Gentlemen and in betweens: Itzzzzzzz C H E R!!!! Review: Great to not depend on Musicchannels this days. The great videos from artists like Madonna, Cher, George Michael are shown only rare. Instead you got a lot of nervekilling Hip Hop etc. Happily this release of the greatest CHER Videos is now avaiable. What can you except: a breathtaking trip through CHER s colorful in any way music history. What are you asking for? This is a buying-demand: Itzzzzzzzzzzzz brilliant, because itz C H E R!!!! And I got a codefree DVD Player now, the Sonny & Cher Shows are not released in Germany. An Idea is coming up in me ;-) Thanks America for artists and talents like CHER & MADONNA!
Rating: Summary: Cher's Videos Review: I am a huge Cher-a-holic, but I have to share others' disappointment that so many of her videos were left on the shelf (the little-seen Hell on Wheels, one of the first-ever music videos, All or Nothing, Dark Lady, and the stunning duet with Eros, Pue Che Poi, among others). I can only imagine that Warners is looking to milk us all for more dollars by holding back and then releasing another video compilation when Cher gets off her tour sometime in 2008 and records another album. The inclusion of the dreadful slow version of One by One is at least counter-balanced by the fact that the original version of Song for the Lonely, not the awful Almight Mix, is included. (Whoever was in charge of labeling the tracks was asleep.) But in sum, a neverending stream of Rob Camilletti appearances (4 videos!) makes for tough going after a while. Better luck next time.
Rating: Summary: will somebody get the video track list right??! Review: I am so happy to see a video compilation of SOME of Cher's videos. It is a long time in coming. I work in the factory that makes the DVD so I have been "quality checking" it for a couple weeks now...it has been the soundtrack to my 12-hour days, quite frankly. I just wish that all the online shopping websites could get the track listing right! For the record, "Dark Lady" and the "Almighy mix of Believe", and the "dance version of One By One" are NOT included on it. But, "Half-Breed" is and the european album version of "One By One" is. Along with the europe-only charity single video for "Love Can Build A Bridge", a song Cher sang with Neneh Cherry and Chrissie Hynde. So, if this had been a "Complete" video collection, I would have given it 10 stars if I could! But, as it stands, it is extremely enjoyable, if not perfect, and a MUST for any Cher fan. P.S. Cher looks so great in the "Walking In Memphis" video!!
Rating: Summary: CHER !!! Review: I LOVE CHER !!! and i cant wait for this DVD to hit the shelves cuz i want/need it for my CHER collection. but they are missing a lot of videos, "All or Nothing" is not there and some of her other videos "the musics no good without you", "alive again." but i am hoping i see them in the near future. although some videos arent there, i still love CHER and there are gonna be a lot of DVD collections cuz this woman is unstoppable and its gonna take more then 1 DVD to fill all of Cher's music videos. who knows maybe she will come out with a remix album !!! (follow that you bitches!!) GO CHER !!!!
Rating: Summary: Good but could've been better. Review: I was thrilled when I knew that a Cher video collection was coming out but I have to be honest that I was a little bit dissapointed because this production could've been much better. Some video hits are missing like her 70's #1 hit "DARK LADY" which had a funny video but instead of that track you can find "HALF-BREED" which has a boring video that just shows Cher seating on a horse, then "ALL OR NOTHING" that was another hit doesn't appear and you can find "MAIN MAN" which wasn't a hit. I also think that it could have at least special features as lyrics, photo gallery or Cher commenting about the videos (that would've been great). But well not everything is bad here because you can enjoy several great videos such as "IF I COULD TURN BACK TIME", "I FOUND SOMEONE", "WE ALL SLEEP ALONE", "BELIEVE", "SAVE UP ALL YOUR TEARS" and "LOVE CAN BUILD A BRIDGE" (featuring Chrissie Hynde, Neneh Cherry and Eric clapton).
Rating: Summary: A real disappointment - missing too many videos! Review: It hurts to give this only 1 star but it has nothing to do with Cher and all to do with how poorly this was put together. Where are All or Nothing, Music's No Good Without You, Different Kind of Love Song, Love and Understanding, Dark Lady, I Got You Babe, etc, etc. There is no excuse for this to be so incomplete. Plus, the package is mislabled about including the remix of One by One - it's actually the slow (and unpopular) version. And it would have been nice to see some remix videos. After waiting so long for a video compliation, this is VERY disappointing for an artist as well known as Cher.
