Rating: Summary: Regarding sound quality Review: This DVD sounds great on my system, however I'm running 3.1 (Front Left, Center, Front Right and Sub - the 2 rear speakers are not hooked up). This might reduce some of the croud noise. I also listened to this on my friend's system that mixed the 5.1 to stereo (right/left) only. What a huge difference: it sounded like utter crap. The moral: this DVD obviously wasn't mixed for right/left configurations, but there are configurations under which it sounds superb IMHO. So before you pan the DVD, check out your speaker configuration!I saw the Vapor Trails concert in the Gorge WA, and what I love about the DVD is that it almost makes me feel like I'm there again. This is what a live DVD is all about IMO! The crowd? awesome! (Once you get your config right as mentioned above). I do agree with those who have complained about the quick video cuts between cameras - sometimes it's annoying. Overall however, this DVD is a pure gem. I love energy of the crowd and how it seems to affect the band - and it's WONDERFUL to listen to. (I also own the CD set, in 3.1 the DVD sounds better to me than the CD on my car stereo).
Rating: Summary: An Excellent Performance Review: This is an excellent DVD. My suggestion would be to watch Disc 2 first. After watching the documentary and seeing what they went through to put this show together, only then can one truly appreciate the level of talent these guys perform at. This show is edited to where no one shot last more than five or so seconds. Great for people with ADD. The camerawork is excellent with shots seemingly from inside Neil's kit. The sound on the DVD is good to excellent. (Following the song "Ghost Rider" Neil breaks one of his sticks and you can hear the wood cracking). Conversly, the sound quality on the companion CD set is mediocre at best.
Rating: Summary: Outstanding DVD Review: This is a great live dvd. The sound is rich and full. The three amigos look like they're having a blast on stage and the crowd is delirious. I loved seeing the Brazilian entourage singing every last word. The last live recording, "Different Stages", had it's high points but didn't have the same feel as the Rio concert. During the production of "Different Stages", Rush was going through some very hard times, particularly with the passing of Neil's daughter, Selena, and her mother, Jackie. This had to be very trying for Neil and the band. "Live from Rio" truly marks Rush and the crew's persistance and attention to detail. Whether or not you like the hard driving sounds or the mellow introspectiveness of Rush, this DVD has something for everyone. Rush's popularity through-out the world continues to thrive and the band continues to prove that age has no boundaries.
Rating: Summary: ALL DRUMMERS!!!....buy this DVD Review: ... I'm a drummer so I wanted to see good close-ups of neil peart and be able to hear all the drum detail. This DVD is very good....i don't know why people where moaning about the sound not being professional.....it's a good live concert....you can hear all the instruments clearly and yet you get a feeling your at an exciting live concert..... If your a rush fan and you love hearing all the instuments in detail and like watching how neil, geddy and alex play all their awkward parts......watch this DVD! All drummers especially...Neil Pearts drum solo blows anything by Bonham & Paice.....listen,learn and watch in awe!!!...i replay over and over again.....but still i'm baffled!!!
(p.s. The mother-in-law hated it....so i know it's good)
Rating: Summary: Best Concert I Ever Saw Review: I was at the Irvine, California leg of this tour. This video captures the experience in spades. Rush is hands down the best live band ever, and this is just another example of it. Hard core Rush fans will not be dissapointed and neither will the casual Rush listeners (if they actually exist). The playlist goes on and on and on. They even brought back some classics that were before my time (and I go back to the late 70's). Best concert I ever went to, and best DVD concert that I own.
Rating: Summary: don't believe the negativity Review: The sound on this dvd is similar to most live videos and cds if not better. If you love rush do not hesitate to buy this dvd. Live natural science is awesome. The crowd is full of fans (fanatics) who obviously have been waiting a long time to see the band. The crowd actually "sings" along with yyz. Enjoy the video.

Rating: Summary: Amazing show and dvd! Review: I have no freakin idea what all of these people are complaining about. I just got this DVD and it rocks! It sounds like a concert as it should. I have it going through a $90 home theater system with no sound problems whatsoever!! If you don't buy this based on those poor reviews you will be missing out.
Rating: Summary: I am sorry, I have not seen this yet Review: Hello! I saw the Vapor Trails Tour in Chicago, and the crowd never sat down. Even thourgh I was high up in the Stands, I could not see the band. I am a 25 year fan of Rush, and look forward to all the perfections and flaws I've been reading about. I am so glad that something like this is available and in the Widescreen format. My 84 inch wide screen TV will serve as the perfect tool to watch this show. Just as soon as I finsh this pre-review, I will buy the DVD. Looking forward to a new studio album here, and I'm sure their are plans in the works. If you have never been to a Rush Concert or have never heard Rush before, it's an aquired taste. I loved this music. Can only hope the crowd doesn't detract from the music as it did in Chicago.........Have a great day!
