Rating: Summary: Great performer, yet substandard production Review: Being a long time Engelbert fan, I must say this is yet another great performance of him, and it is indeed a milestone for this great performer that a native Brit could finally be recognised as a quality performer fit for appearing at the Albert Hall. A much delayed honor for this Britain's pride.Yet I gave it 4 stars because of the poor quality of the video production team. There were mixed up song titles, for example "Les Bicycletts De Belsize" was for no explanable reason "mutated" into "Lady St.Clair De Belsize"! Also, the picture quality was bad, not difficult to notice that it was just some direct transfer of the old analog tape, could be Betacam or simply VHS... The last imperfection of this DVD is the actual content. I always find Mr Humperdinck a little too bold and creative in his choice of repretoire for his live shows. I understand that his first passion for pop music was initiated by Nat King Cole, and it is totally fine to pay tribute to the legendary song stylist, yet the Disco beat "hits" of Engelbert himself in the mid 80's were less than satisfactory. We know he could dance and rock n' roll, but I guess when it comes to interpretation, most people would agree with me that it was best for good o' Enge to stick to his own "forte" as he usually puts it -- Ballads. Nobody would get tired of him serenading the audience with his original hits like "The Last Waltz", "Release Me', "Love Is All" and more modern great tunes like "Too Beautiful to Last", "The Last of the Romantics" and such. I wish he understood that.
Rating: Summary: the englebert humperdinck spectacolar Review: I HAVE NEVER SEEN A PERSON HAVENING MORE FUN IN CONCERT,LIKE ENGLEBERT.HE WAS A LITTLE NEVOUES AT THE BEGINNING.BUT WHEN THEM DANCERS CAME OUT, THAT WAS ALL OVER.IT WAS TIME TO JAME.AND BOY CAN HE HAVE FUN.
Rating: Summary: 5for ENGE,4 for sound quality, top performance. Review: I loved the show, his dancers were excellent.( I wish I was one of them!), his singers were excellent too. Engelbert is without a doubt my favourite. He has the looks, the voice, the body, the talent, although he is a little reserved, slightly shy even, but that is what makes him adorable. His facial expressions tell a story all of there own. I feel like I can read him and follow his emotions through every song. Iam so glad he perservered all those years ago because He was born to sing, entertain, entice our hearts,be a heartbreaker and leave us dripping with excitement at the very thought of HIM.
Rating: Summary: Entitled "Spectacular" because it is sensational! Review: The world class London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the brilliant Frank Leone, and Engelbert Humperdinck, one of the best singers alive, combine for a most enjoyable theatrical production. "What a Lovely Way to Spend The Evening" viewing 59 minutes of superb showmanship and musicianship. Bravo to all.
Rating: Summary: 5-Star Performance by Engelbert Review: This is truly Engelbert at his best - backed by the London Philharmonic, Humperdinck is at his most powerful vocally and emotionally. When you sit and watch the entire show in a sitting, it is truly a powerful experience. Absolutely one of the top performers of our time.
