Rating: 5 stars
Summary: wonderful live
Review: for many of us, this could be the only chance to see Lawrence live, taking place in 1987. although they played very well, the quailty of this dvd is bootleg-like, video capture is limited, audio is not very good, and the one and only promotional video is mostly made up from clips of the same source. BUT you would not mind one bit. their talents and charm go far beyond that. his packaging design is great as always. and btw, there're 2 tracks they played that have not been previously released.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: for obsessive completists only
Review: if you're even looking at this dvd you are probably already an obsessive felt completist so i'm not expecting to sway many readers... that said, after i got the disc i was going to play it for a friend to introduce her to the band. unfortunately the quality is so bad that i instead quickly turned it off and put on a CD. pretty much unwatchable. would instead spend money on buying original Train Above the City/Jackson Pictoral Review CD if you can find anyone to part with theirs...

Summary: fantastic
Review: the best band of the 80's now has a dvd out. this is the only occasion to watch the band that deserved to be bigger than the cure & the smiths!

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: MIGHT BE RARE STUFF, BUT...
Review: well, FELT is one of my most favourite bands of the early 90's, this I must confess.
this video contains a live concert in ULU LONDON February 1987 and a ( supposed to be ) unseen promotional clip of a song ( which actually is just shots from the SAME concert put all together to give the impression of something different and new -WHICH IS NOT as the studio version of the song 'reveals' ... ).
the shooting is in B&W probably with two cameras which NEVER make a close up to the members of the group - so we actually watch the stage from quite a long distance and the shooting is like done from a member of the audience ( I've seen video-bootlegs with a lot better shooting ).
The band performs beautifully - far as I could understand from the poor distorted sound - which is the worst part of this video.
This is a release strictly for fans ( like me ) who would buy any visual stuff from Felt . For the rest, I guess it's going to be a disappointment.
The tracklisting is as follows:

1.declaration
2.grey streets
3.hours of darkness
4.riding on the equator
5.ballad of the band
6.all the people I like
7.when the dawn starts creeping in
8.primitive painters
9.soul coaxing

total running time: 41 mins

there is an indication at the bottom of ( the beautiful paper artworked case of the DVD - this I must say ) which informs us that 'this is the only recording of Felt playing live in existence and everything feassable has been done to bring the raw quality of the original material up to the best possible standard'.

this might be true indeed, but all I can say is that Cherry Red people should be ashamed not to have a decent recording of Felt all these early or late years of their career, as they gave quite a few concerts at that time. Probably because the company never cared to do so ( same problem with Joy Division, for instance, which all there that exists is an amateur poor shooting and a video clip from 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' - thank God these even exist ).
I give two stars only because it's a rare footage - all the rest is below the expectations of any Felt release.
