Rating: Summary: Only for true die-hard fans. Review: I wish I had read the review @amazon.com, before buying this DVD. The nail has been hit on the head, so to speak. I have bought three Image DVD's, and they all have horrible audio, and poor picture quality. Pass on this one, and other Image products until they put today's technology to use on the priceless footage from yesteryear.
Rating: Summary: Glad I was able to return it Review: I'd like to purchase a quality BOC DVD. This is definitely not quality. The aforementioned horrible audio/video quality forced me to return the DVD even though I'm a big BOC fan. It would be great if someone could find the old "Black and Blue" concert video of BOC and Black Sabbath. I'm sure that would satisfy some of us 40 something heavy metallers.
Rating: Summary: Not bad at all but I've seen better Review: I've seen better than this. But what I've seen better IS this. I got a japanese copy of this off of ebay a while back and the sound, picture and everything else is fabulous. No breaks, good camera angles, etc. I suggest anyone wanting to try this do what I do. Ebay usually has good BOC stuff. I got both this and the Black and Blue co-tour with Black Sabbath off of ebay. Try it if you can but if not then this DVD is the best you can get.
Rating: Summary: It's music history, you whiners! Review: Ok, man with the mixer was maybe too high. All he did was he plugged/unplugged bass cable. So what? This is part of music history, and ONLY for real fans. It was year 1976! So MTV kids..get a life! Sad but true, the quality is awful. But hey, the band on the stage...is....The...Amazing....BLUE.. ÖYSTER..CULT!
Rating: Summary: Audio and Video as bad as it gets Review: Ok, the sound quality on this is very disappointing. As was pointed out in another review, it's simply a recording of the arena cameras that were used during the show, two-track sound. But it's a great visual of the band during their laser era. If you're a BÖC fan, it's worth having Mr. McCoy's criticism of the band is way-off. The band was, and is still, a great band. Mr. McCoy seems to think that they peaked five years before this - he couldn't be more wrong. By the way, their first release was a little more than four years before this concert.

Rating: Summary: Oyster Boys Video Review: Remember the Bachman-Turner Overdrive phrase 'you're only as good as your last record.' BOC was in their infancy when this video was made; the band began play as BOC in 1972. Don't blame the band for the lack of technical support from the AV guys. BOC was NOT in their prime in 1976 and whoever this guy McKoy is has listened to way too much Hanson, NKOTB, or Backyard Boys to give a meaningful critique of this video...c'mon Mack Daddy, if you're making a comment in the present you have to relate this video to the technical capabilities of the past when it was created. And one of the writers below hit the nail on the head...in the days before Milli Vanilli there were bands who had to be good just to get NEAR a recording studio door, and you had your stuff together once you got inside. Give the Oyster Boys their due, 28 years of rock with a small, but very loyal, following that has been generated by NOT following down the same path of other bands, but by actually researching their lyrics and refining their shows. Instead of the usual screech and scream concerts of today, BOC was innovative with the use of lasers and stage props (Godzilla heads, HD motorcycles, and other things)in addition to hypnotic songs of paranormal and history. This video, although may not AV friendly, definitely shows a young, raw, BOC that is ready to shed their skins. A must buy for any rock historian who wants something out of the ordinary. We understand, we understand, we understand.
Rating: Summary: Bad audio, poor visuals, but BOC classic to the core Review: Sure, this product isn't great. The sound pretty much sucks, and the video quality is awful. But where else are you gonna get the chance to see the infamous 5 guitar jam or Eric's wrist laser? I never had the chance to see the original line up, being basicaly too young (I wasn't even ten years old when this was recorded), but now I have and it just makes me wish even harder that I had had the chance to see the original BOC. The drum solo got tedious and the sound fades in and out, the visuals are overdone -- but to see the wrist laser finally, and to hear Joey's bass solo and that 5 guitar jam... it was worth it. Is this for a die-hard fan? Yes, it is. But doesn't just being a BOC fan after all these years and turmoil qualify one as being a die hard?
Rating: Summary: It's NOT that bad! Review: There are some parts that are pretty bad; but overall, I found the tape quite enjoyable. Despite the poor production, the songs are clear and the music is great. Don't expect great quality, and you won't be disappointed. I would recommended it to fans of Blue Oyster Cult though and not a person who has not seen or hear them before.
Rating: Summary: The Blue Oyster Cult Caught In The Act! Review: They may be old(er), but any glimpse of the Cult of the Blue Oyster is worth it. For the price of an audio cd you get to see the artists where they are most at home; on stage. The audio quality is a bit off, but think of the audio from their first few albums. Project your mind a little. It's like a good book. Your mind fills in any gaps that technology in 1976 couldn't. I never got a chance to see the band in their original line-up so this DVD brings some of the magic home. I enjoy any chance I get to sit back and listen to BOC, but it's even better when you see them interact as a band.
