Summary: ...way overdue ! ! !
Review: There's an old maxim that the only way to really experience go go is to experience it live... This is the main difference between go go and hip hop... Hip Hop music is done in the studio... and its about the rappers and drum machines. - - Go Go is done live and its about the interaction between the musicians and the audience...and the way the musicians fire up over the groove - - Now, atlast, for the first time in ages, GO GO has been caught... and proven to be alive and well... coincidentally, on the birthday of the man who started it all.

Recorded before a packed house in the Go Go capital of the world the sound and picture quality are only rivaled by the music and the DVD represents the diversity of go go, from the the Chuck Brown Jazz/Funk school (his horn section in particular is phenomenal) to 3 generations of go go bands that picked up on what Chuck Started... from the old School (including EU and Trouble's Big Tony) to the New School - - 911, who have one foot in the new school of urban contemp/hip hop, but when fired up, sound a lot like Trouble Funk...

- - One of the first Go Go albums I ever heard was LIVE AT CAPITAL CENTER. - - Go Go had actually been proclaimed dead after the movie GOOD TO GO failed to launch the music into the world outside DC... This DVD is proof that while a lot of people might not know what Go Go is.... 1) It's influence is unquestionable. 2) DC's got a secret they ain't letting go of.

Let's hope this DVD is just a hint at the shape of things to come !

Summary: Get Your Go Go On
Review: This is one great DVD. If you love Go Go nothing else needs to be said. If you don't know about Chuck or Go Go, this is a great starting place. Just as James Brown is the Godfather of Soul and George Clinton is the Godfather of P-Funk, Chuck Brown is indeed the Godfather of Go Go, that unique music that is funk plus percussion. This 2 DVD set was captured at Washington DC's famous 9:30 Club and includes performances of EU, 911, Little Benny, Big Tony Fisher of Trouble Funk and other established and up and coming Go Go groups all paying homage to the man that has become the symbol of Go Go all over the world Chuck Brown. The occasion is a birthday celebration for Chuck and also a celebration of the still thriving DC Go Go music scene. If you have even one funky bone in your body you will love this DVD! Do do yourself a favor and pick this one up with a quickness.

Summary: Go-Go Godfather
Review: This is quite possibly the best concert CD I've seen. I just bought it the other day and was blown away by Chuck and some of the young guns of Go-Go. Go-Go has been around for many years and since I am not from the D.C area I have never seen a live show. This DVD is as close as you can get to "being there". To me Chuck is a legend on par with bigger name national and international stars like James Brown when it comes to putting on a great show.
